MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
The first days of the trecena prepare us for a Transformation we choose for ourselves. Though our growth is part of a Divine Plan, we always have the choice in how we direct our energy. There are many different ways to learn the same thing.
The Higher Intention of this trecena is to be Empowered as Creators, and by walking in Balance with our own Center, Recreate a world of Our Choosing.¹ 5 Eagle/MEN is positioned at Tone 5 to Empower a Spiritual Climb. The totem Eagle is regarded as a Divine Intermediary by its capability of flight to reach heights in close proximity to the Creator. We will be empowered by seeing what the Creator sees.
The Intention we seek for our Self is our own expression of a Divine Intention. No limits have been placed on our choices. The world can be transformed by what we make of it. Our earliest signs of growth is a greater awareness of the conflict between our Ego and our Higher Self. Our ego sees through a fearful illusion. Our Higher Self can see beyond the unknown of the moment to the unlimited possibilities of the future. Eagle empowers us by lifting us to a vantage point of Higher Vision. We’re not limited by what we could see from the ground.
We are being empowered to see something from the Higher Perspective of a Divine Source that Knows the Truth of our Unlimited Possibility. The 7th uinal at the center of the Tzolk’in is the only 20-day cycle without a Portal Day. Portal Days present us with a thinning of the veil, so we can see beyond our 3 dimensional existence. Without this advantage, we are Challenged and Strengthened to fly on our own.
As the visibility of our Power is veiled, we must learn to Believe in the Truth of Spiritual Power we defined for our Self. A Strengthening of our Faith will always present us with a Challenge. In our “dark nights of the soul” we reach the limit of our Faith, and seek new Light at the end of our tunnel.
5 Eagle/MEN gives us our own Power of Higher Vision. Today we may come to a realization that helps us see through our own Veil of Illusion. In the darkness, we are more likely to be fearful of what we can’t see. Monkey/CHUEN offered 5 Eagle as our guide to help Manifest an Intention of Re-creation. Eagle lifts us up so we can see something new for our Self. This vision will fuel our growth through the rest of a 6-day cycle that will help us transform our Experience of the World.
Blue is the Direction of the West, the place of our personal experiences. The 7th uinal is establishing balance by bringing our “I Am” into correspondence with the world we Chose to Create. Our faith may be tested, experiencing the extremes in our Self. In the place of Unity, the Shadow and Higher Self can work together to serve a High Purpose. Together they can help us see something that would empower a personal transformation.
As our Shadow presents its Illusion, we can overcome it by acknowledging it as our Ego. Guided to follow the ways of the Monkey, we would inspect our thoughts with curious interest. We can turn to Eagle to reach the Vision of our Higher Self. By unraveling the thoughts that motivated old behavior, we can consciously choose how replace them in integrity of our Truth.
Reflecting on the Core Days, these are our first experiences as a Recreated Being. The first time we try something new we recognize our weakness. With Time our feelings of inadequacy can be replaced by Faith in our Higher Self.
Eagle/MEN guides us with “the energy of high hopes and anticipations, dreams and visions, cosmic consciousness and commitment.” Remembering we are created with the “highest hopes” of our Creator, we can commit ourselves to a pattern of movement that would follow a natural course toward the Dream we hold dear.
To all my relations, when we need the Power to Go On, may we Re-Member the Vision that can be seen by our Higher Self. We have Wings that can carry us to the Heights of Spirit. As we are Challenged and Strengthened may we raise our self up to See a Higher Truth for our Selves.
in lak’ech, i am another you

¹ The new year, 5 Wind/IK, is an Empowerment of Spirit; the 7th Uinal holds the intention of Balance; and, the trecena of Monkey/CHUEN weaves the tapestry of our life experience.
21 DAYS of CEREMONY: 1 Monkey/CHUEN marked 21 days to the K’iche Maya New Year celebrated on 8 B’atz (8 Monkey/CHUEN). Observing 21 days of prayer and sacred ceremony is a traditional preparation for the observance of the Tzolk’in calendar New Year, which is also the Initiation of the Mayan Daykeepers.
CORE DAYS: Kins 121-140 represent the 7th Uinal of Balance, the Core Days of the Tzolk’in as observed by Yucatec tradition. We complete the last 10 days of the Core Days under the Monkey/CHUEN trecena, moving to the 8th Uinal of Justice on 11 Crocodile/IMIX.

5 Eagle/MEN (Cherokee, Eagle/UWO’HATLI)
Galactic Tone 5: Empowerment. At the center of the cube we find Five. Five is an intelligent, organizing force which manages communications and materials, knowledge and application. Fives are natural net workers who gather what is needed. These persons can probe directly to the core of any situation making them excellent investigators.
Eagle/MEN: Intermediary between Heaven and Earth. Due to the Eagles superior point of view and keen intelligence, they achieve material abundance and good fortune. A messenger gifted with patience and a deep sense of value, Eagle brings hope and trust on the wings of Spirit. Eagle persons are very detail oriented and technically inclined. Compassionate service to others sustains prosperity for Eagle personas as the flapping of wings would sustain their bird brothers. If Eagle becomes viciously competitive or possessive, greed and jealousy cause a fall from the heights. Eagles, being blessed with freedom of movement, should be aware of escapism. Eagles may be tempted to just fly away from troubles by using indulgences.
Cherokee, Eagle/UWO’HATLI: Eagle’s symbol is Mars the Spirit Warrior. He is a minion of Grandfather Moon. Eagles were the warrior society, the braves the protectors of the nation. Women were included. There was no discrimination which is reflected in the language: third person singular is divided into animate, human and animate, not human instead of he and she. The energy of high hopes and anticipations, dreams and visions, cosmic consciousness and commitment. On earth, a provider of excellence, leader, husbandry, care-taking of others, financial security and inheritance.
