MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
Tone 4 brings the Intention of Stability, representing the cube, the most stable of all forms. Tone 4 offers a framework, foundation, and orientation for moving toward our Intention.
The Star/LAMAT trecena guides the last cycle of Ascension. The purpose of our final phase of Spiritual Growth, is to See our Ascended Consciousness through the perspective of a personal experience.
The cycles of “Light” and “Dark” represent the Duality of our Human means of comprehension. In the “Light” we are inspired by a new concept of Truth. The Truth is only a theory until we experience it for our Self. The “Dark” cycle is the application that manifests the Wisdom of Experience.
Like computer LED lights that go on and off, first we receive the new data, then we process it for discernment. 4 Monkey/CHUEN establishes a framework for processing through the Higher Mind of Divine Consciousness.
Monkey/CHUEN is the Master of All Art. CHUEN is known as the “Weaver of Time.” The glyph illustrates “time rolled up” on the Monkey’s head. CHUEN is the Divine Inspiration that arranges the threads of the tapestry of our Life into a thing of Beauty. CHUEN has the Artist’s eye for Beauty. CHUEN knows the Beauty created by Contrast, Color, and the Value of Light. CHUEN sees the Beauty in the Details.
The Master Artists are those that know how to Create Light. I love the example reflected in Rembrandt’s self-portrait. You have to look very closely to see the small touches that reflect Life in the eyes. Our attention is drawn there without our awareness of the smallness of the details. We only notice the life-like Expression.
The Cherokee Raccoon, like the Monkey, loves Beauty and is known to collect shiny things. The Raccoon is among the tricksters, like the coyote, who can teach us something by looking at the “lighter” side. The Monkey and the Raccoon both possess a sense of humor and guide a way of Creating that doesn’t take things so seriously.
The Tzolk’in always seems to reflect what we need to think about just when we need to think about it. I’ve been taking this trecena very seriously. It feels like such an important opportunity for growth, my thoughts have been hard at work trying to hold the Consciousness of what I’m “supposed to be doing” and “how I’m supposed to be doing it.” The first challenge of any creation is the Human Mind of Reason. We expect rules from our Human perspective of Duality – things being right or wrong, black or white.
The last thing Monkey worries about are the rules. The Monkey is likely to break them just to see what happens. Monkey is Free of any emotional attachment, driven only by a thirst for new knowledge and experience.
Our perspective on life is totally changed when we don’t take everything so personally. The Monkey and the Raccoon Love inspecting the details. Beauty in the Moment is what captures their attention. The Monkey is known as one that doesn’t finish what it starts. Monkey moves on to next shiny thing that most captures its attention.
Monkey Creates for the Love of Creating, just like the Dog/OC Loves for the Sake of Loving. Neither hold an expectation of the outcome. Either way, they’ve created the Experience of Loving and Creating. Human expects everything new to be hard. Monkey and the Dog make Creating and Loving look easy.
Human always expects that learning something new will be hard. We want it to turn out a certain way even when we don’t have any experience. We start out with a picture in mind of what our art must reflect to be of meaningful value.
CHUEN embraces both the Dark and Light. The Artist’s eye sees the Beauty created from the combinations. Our “Art” is the story of our Life with all the threads woven together.
Beauty. How does Human perceive it? Beauty is not solely a combination of colors, but a thought that captures our attention and touches our Spirit.
Monkey wholly invests itself in the creation of the moment, valuing every experience just the same. Human is willing to toss aside so many experiences as unworthy. The Raccoon would be following behind, picking up the pieces, knowing that with a little water it will look shiny and new. If we looked for the place where Raccoon lives, we’re likely to find a pile of treasure that we threw away.
CHUEN sees the Unlimited Potential of Darkness to be transformed into a Creation of Light. CHUEN sees Darkness as an Opportunity for Creation, the way Dog looks for Opportunities to Love.
Some works of art are more beautiful than others. It depends on the “eye of the artist” and the “eye of the beholder.” Interestingly, the same artwork can generate a different perception for everyone who sees it. The artwork saved as my “permanent collection” are pieces created by my children. They hold the Beauty of a Time and Place of Experience.
As the Master of Time, CHUEN reminds us of our own Special Gift of Time Travel. Only Human holds the Consciousness to experience Time in the Past, Present, and Future. We can go back to see Beauty we didn’t see before, and we can Create the Beauty we will see in our future. Beauty is the Muse of CHUEN. Why worrying about finishing everything now, when something new has captured our attention? We can go back and finish it later.
Our Human Rules of Reason say we must complete everything we start. We take unfinished creations very personally, almost equal to total failure. We don’t give ourselves the Freedom to move on when we discover there’s something else we’d rather do. Who made the rule?
Monkey reminds us to follow our Passion wherever it leads. Passion is the Muse of Creation. When our passion is shifted to something new, that’s the best object of our Affection. Sometimes, setting an artwork aside allows time for a new Inspiration.
Why do we choose rules that limit possibilities? Is that what we think everyone else is doing? Or does someone else expect us to finish?
When we create spontaneously from Inspiration, Spirit will always speak through our art. I began painting without any formal training. My first rule was that true art came from the brush, so it was cheating to draw any outlines. When I realized “the rule” it had clearly been drawn out of thin air. It “could be” a rule to a certain kind of artist, but it was not an absolute rule as I had imagined. Consciousness is the only way to know our own Operating System.
CHUEN guides an open framework for Creation. Instead of doing what we think we have to do, we can make up our own rules as we go along. We can choose what they will be by Divine Inspiration. Our Heart will tell us what to do.
We have a Sponsor and Patron that sees all our creations as a Human Masterpiece. Every one would be hung on the Creator’s refrigerator. Our lives are a thing of Beauty to the Creator who always sees the beauty of the Expression.
4 Monkey/CHUEN can establish our stability through the Truth of our Freedom to Be. This is a day when we might pay attention to the rules and boundaries in play. We can redefine our own boundaries by rules we choose on purpose. Our new rule can be to follow whatever our Heart Desires. Our unfinished works will leave room for imagination.
Monkey Loves the Chaos of Creation. Monkey can lead us to a play in the mystical process of Creation. We can be creative and color outside the lines. CHUEN can free us up for the next bright idea.
My most Loved discoveries of transformation are the rules that have fallen away. I’ve always struggled with seasonal depression. The Summer Solstice was never a celebration of Summer, but the first sign of a darkness to come. I perceived it as an inevitable experience. Something changed in me during this round of the Tzolk’in.
It’s only been since 2015 that I’ve overcome my longest and darkest depression that lasted a decade. Depression was once a word I always imagined written in capital letters – “DEPRESSION.” The first 260-day round pulled me out of it, though I wondered what the next Fall would bring. This last detail of a stronghold was forgotten this year. Getting up in the darkness didn’t bother me at all. It was hard to believe. From this Miracle I could Love Every Season on Mother Earth.
I never considered that asking for Divine Help would return the Divine Justice of such Beauty. It was more than I could imagine, clearly manifested by the Hand of the Creator. God’s Dreams for us are so much Higher than our own. Our unfinished works should always be offered into the Creator’s Hands.
To all my relations, may we Love the Freedom of Creating an Expression of Beauty that is all our own. May we make our passion the only “rule of art.” May we consider every Miracle of our creation an unfinished work that can be turned into a Masterpiece by the Creator’s Hand. May we Love all the Colors the same. I would never have Known the Miracle, except for the darkness. Loving the Seasons is a life-changing realization of Beauty.
May we look at the smallest blessings of Life, knowing the Creator can Multiply to Abundance its life-changing Beauty. May we think of “ALMIGHTY CREATOR” as the only words worthy to Always be written in ALL CAPS. May we Focus on the Truth that every Creation Inspired by Love will always become a Masterpiece in the Hands of the SUPREME CREATOR, reflecting Beauty beyond our Human mind to imagine.

4 Monkey/CHUEN (Cherokee, Raccoon/KVH’LI)
Galactic Tone 4: Stability; the cube is most stable of all forms and establishes volume by definition of height, length, depth and breadth; 4 directions establish orientation. The energy of 4 sets the parameters, which establish the freedoms and barriers needed to create a game, work, or relationship.
Monkey/CHUEN: Monkey is known to the Maya as the Weaver or Weaver of Time. Monkey takes ideas as threads of vines and weaves them into the fabric of our reality. New patterns or inventions are also woven into our lives by Monkey. Amiable, intelligent, generous and a jack of all trades, Monkey’s innocent curiosity leads to artistic expression and constructive solutions. Many Monkeys become highly respected merchants or speakers. They love performing practical jokes and crave attention, so much so that they may over-act or play the fool to get the spotlight. Monkeys have a short attention span and find it difficult to stay with anything long enough to master it.
Cherokee, Raccoon/KVH’LI: Star Symbol: Algol, a star in Perseus. Restless energy yearning for long-lost love. Algol was named DEMON STAR or MISCHIEVOUS ONE by the Ancients because it winks and fades at times. Raccoon is full of friendly mischief, eager to swap kisses for candy. Magnetic leaders, full of humor and gaiety. Favorite food is corn, the mainstay of the Cherokee. Very artistic while being the “masked bandit” who steals your heart.
