THE TRECENA OF DEER/MANIK

Greetings Kin,

The Next 13-Days…

We begin a new trecena of “Light” that will Inspire a Dream to fulfill our Life’s Mission and Purpose. Deer/MANIK, also known as Hand, is a symbol of Human’s role as the Creator’s Hand in the world.

The MANIK glyph illustrates the hand that grasps the Ether of Spirit between the forefinger and the thumb. The thumb reflects the strength of the Human Will, the digit of our Authority. The forefinger (the pointer) represents a discernment of Direction. The Circle is the “eye of the Deer” that represents the Vigilance of the Deer. By standing in its own Truth Deer/MANIK upholds the pillars in the realm of Spirit.

Deer/MANIK is the Day Sign that holds every Spiritual Tool. MANIK helps us to see our Human limitations so that a Spiritual Tool is created to meet every need. As a Day Sign of the West, MANIK will call our Consciousness to our Experience of the Unknown. The more we are willing to see our weakness, the more we will be blessed with Spiritual Tools.

Deer/MANIK’s most used tool is Vigilance. Deer stands silently in its own Truth, observing the landscape in all 4 directions. MANIK is said to uphold the Pillars of Consciousness in every direction of our life. Following the path of the Deer, we will learn many ways that we can Stand in our Own Truth, and uphold the Pillars of Divine Consciousness for the Whole.

GLOBAL BURNER DAY: 4 Dog/OC
There are 4 Global Burner Days in the 260-day round of the Tzolk’in, a burner for each of the Seasons. Burner Days represent a release of residual energies… a clearing and purification. The Mayan priest performed the Sacred Fires that would draw the community back together into Right Relationship. On the days leading up to a Burner Day, we can experience the stress of too much energy. 4 Dog/OC holds potential for a release on the Tone 4 of Stability. PORTAL DAYS: Element of Ether
Portal days thin the veil to Spiritual Dimensions and elevate our Awareness to our own Spiritual Gifts of Intuition and Knowing. 13 Storm/CAUAC is the one Portal Day in the Deer/MANIK trecena. The Lightning of CAUAC connects Heaven and Earth, Body and Soul. A Portal will magnify a connection to “Lightning Energy” at our Ascension to a Higher Purpose.

PEAK DAYS: Peak Experience, Peak Performance

• 6 Road/EB – momentum for dynamic developments on the Road of our Destiny
• 7 Reed/BEN – balancing the Light Above and the Light Below
• 8 Jaguar/IX – a transformation through a new Awakening of our Spiritual Gifts
• 9 Eagle/MEN – a transformation completed through a Spiritual Gift of Higher Vision

At our Ascension on 13 Transformer/CIMI we were given a Sign of a Major Life Change. We used our Consciousness of a Divine Creator to look into our future, to see it in the Light of a Divine Promise. The Supreme Creator who Loves us holds the Integrity of Truth.

We are Divine Children of the Creator, designed to grow up in the Image of the Creator. The first two trecena’s of the Tzolk’in introduced us to the faculties of Consciousness and the Wisdom of an Experience. We were tuned in for Divine Discernment, to Know our Truth and to identify the Guidance we receive from Above.

Deer/MANIK introduces us to our Mission and Purpose. MANIK is the Day Sign of the Mayan priest. Our Mission is to be the Guiding Hand of the Creator in the world Below. MANIK teaches us how to hold the Integrity of our own Truth, and to be a Living Demonstration of Communion with the Creator.

The Deer holds the Gift of Harmonic Resonance. We aren’t meant to head out on a roundup mission. The Deer leads by attraction. Seeing a Demonstration of the Creator’s Love others will naturally follow along. To lead this path, we must stand in our Highest Integrity.

The Mayan priest is the Spiritual Leader, the shaman who carries out the Rituals and Sacred Ceremonies on behalf of the community. MANIK creates a Shared-Opportunity for a Divine Communion. MANIK knows that as we are all drawn toward the same Center of Love, we stand closer to each other. We are naturally drawn together in Right Relationship. We exist in Peace and Harmony with one another when we are drawn together by a Divine Intention.

Deer/MANIK’s most important Service is Remembering. The Mayan priest watches for Divine Signs and the Holy Days marked on the calendar, the days we were intended to be drawn together. Carrying out these rituals and ceremonies, others are naturally drawn to follow.

The Deer’s most used Spiritual Gift is the Vigilance of Consciousness. In order to Stand in the Truth of our Own Integrity, we have to be Vigilantly Conscious of our thoughts. The Elders call it, “tracking the mind.” If we are to be a good leader, we have to guard our words and movement so we wouldn’t lead anyone astray.

When one Chooses to take on the Mission of the priest, like a herd of Deer, all eyes will be trained on us. When we move, others are likely to move in the same direction. The role of the Deer is to uphold the pillars of our realm of Spirit, maintaining the foundation of our Higher Ground. The Deer keeps things on track.

This Mission was our Meaning and Purpose, to be of Service to One Another, to help one another Remember through our own Demonstration. It’s not a Mission that Human can carry out alone. Our Strength will be found by grasping the Thread of Ether that completes a circuit to the Divine Power of the Creator. The Deer can’t complete its Mission by being a perfect example. No one naturally gravitates toward a path of straight and narrow. But everyone gravitates toward a Demonstration of Unconditional Love.

So, we know that Human will fail. We forget. We are often afraid to stand in our own Truth. It makes us vulnerable. We can’t do it by defending our ground. That’s what Human is first inclined to do when someone challenges the Truth of our Integrity. It seems necessary to convince others of the same Truth we see.

The problem with this approach is that we interrupt a Divine Communion of Truth that each of us were meant to Know directly through our own relationship with the Creator. We learned our Truth, exactly when and how we needed to know it. Knowing we can Know our Self, is Integral to the Deer’s Mission.

When we Know our own Truth, we don’t have to defend it. In fact, our direct conversations with the Creator might be impossible to explain in Human words. The greatest illustration is how this Communion leads us to Move from our Divine Nature.

Deer/MANIK offers the Spiritual Tools we need for the Mission. MANIK is said to have kept every Spiritual Tool its ever used. The shadow side of MANIK can be too many tools. When we have too many tools, we create more things to remember. We can become a jack of all trades, and a master of none.

I have all kinds of Spiritual Tools I’ve collected over the years – books, crystals, stones, and sacred objects. I could never engage all of them at once. Some pieces are more important because I’ve invested time in using them and feel connected to their energy. It’s the same with my Spiritual Path. I draw from a variety of teachings. The one tool that has tied them all together is the Tzolk’in, offering a Meaning and a Purpose for each day.

It doesn’t matter what you choose, but choose the Divine Source of Inspiration that makes the Connection to the Heart. Invest yourself in a Faith you will Master. Only by identifying Your Path, will you be in sync with the Flow of Initiation. We receive an Initiation of Spirit with each new Ascension of Consciousness.

The Tzolk’in helps us mark the days in the future and the past so we can always have a milestone that helps us to discern “What was the meaning and purpose?” The Elders taught us to use the calendar to look up important events in our life, and to observe them through the context of the Kin and Galactic Week (trecena).

The Mission of Deer/MANIK calls us to be clear in our direction to maintain our Integrity. MANIK holds the power to push away negativity. In the Bible, James (1:8) says that when our loyalty is divided between God and the world, we’re unstable in everything we do, calling it “double-minded.” This speaks directly to our Human Nature and our Divine Nature, our lower consciousness and our Higher Consciousness.

To push away negativity, we have to push away the thoughts that are generated by our lower Human consciousness. We have to pay attention with vigilance to our thoughts to carry this out. It might seem impossible to just turn away from our negative thoughts. But, this is the Mission that lies ahead. Our Single-Minded Mission for this trecena is to push away negative thoughts that would invariably express themselves through our words and behavior. We will build the Inner Strength to do it, through an Effort of Vigilant Consciousness, grasping hold of a thread to Divine Thoughts.

The Elders taught us to not claim them as our own thoughts, but merely negative thought forms or vibrations passing by. They will keep moving on as we turn them away as unattached to who we are.

Because MANIK resides in the West, holding the Element of Water, we can expect it to touch our emotions. Water, holding the Ether of Spirit, is the Sign of a Communion that will touch our Heart. It will relate to our own path of the Unknown. In order to hold the Vigilant Consciousness of the Creator’s Power, Deer intends to give us a Tool to address our vulnerability. MANIK will raise consciousness to our own limitation so we are given the Tool custom-made to overcome any stronghold of fear that could stand in our way. Deer can help us accept our limitations without seeing them as “failures.” Instead we can see them as the limit we reached, giving everything we had to give. Our own breakdown will be the place where the Divinity of the Creator, and real Miracles will be seen… when the Creator sets us back on our feet. This is the most Divine Demonstration.

Today’s Forecast…

We are starting all over again at Tone 1. The Divine Wave that carried the Momentum of our last Ascension has crashed to the shore. We’re back “at go” preparing for a new climb of Spiritual Growth. Tone 1 represents a big shift in energy as everything stops to begin again. It’s the lowest energy day of the 13-day cycle.

This is a trecena of “Light.” We’re prepared to take in the New Light for our Spirit, a Divine Inspiration that will Move Us toward a new Intention of Creation. I’m lazy. I like “Light” days. All we have to do is Be Present. Tone 1 almost forces us to be present. As a low-energy day, it can be difficult to be productive. We might feel like we “should” be doing something more. Though, we are called to Be Here Now, for a Communion of Love that will serve as the Guiding Light of our Creation.

This is a day to pay attention to our fears of the Unknown. We are being called to a Divine Mission and a Commitment. Our most natural fears will be all the ways we see we could fail as a “good example.”

A friend once told me that the reason they never committed themselves to a path of Spirit was all the things they would have to give up doing. They only saw the path of the “straight and narrow.” This is how the path looks before we’ve grasped the Thread that connects us to a source of Divine Consciousness and Unconditional Love. We only see the threads that tie us to the world… our ambition, our “fun,” and our Human Nature to always want more. From a Human perspective, it looks like joining a convent, giving up all our worldly pleasures. We can only know when we’ve grasped the Creator’s Love how the things of the world cease to matter.

I’m a firm believer that the “straight and narrow” is guided by the Creator. We won’t accomplish this from our Human Nature. Our thoughts could be turned in a million directions, if we were set to the task of personal perfection. I’ve found that when I’m following something I love, I lose interest in worldly habits. And, I also see that there is ALWAYS some worldly habit ready to capture the attention of my Consciousness. Self-perfection would have to be a never-ending mission of its own, trying to change what we are learning to Believe is already Perfect. That’s what Unconditional Love means to us. We don’t have to be, we only have to be Willing To Be. Think what that means. All we have to do is really want to be something greater than we are, for the Creator to have the permission to Make it So. If we find ourselves lost in one of our bad habits, it doesn’t mean that we have failed. It doesn’t mean the Creator has failed. It’s a sign that in the matter of Divine Timing, we’re learning something else that’s more important now. Even our limitations have their own Divine Place in the plan.

A friend who once offered her guidance and support used to say that her best talent was executing perfectly a demonstration of a bad example. All our examples can be used for a Divine Purpose by the Creator. It’s just as important to stand in the Truth of our Limitations as it is to stand in the Truth of our Power.

Our Human dilemma is an illusion of Powerlessness, a feeling that somehow we are not enough. There’s too much broken. I remember when I believed I was too damaged to ever get my life back on track. No example of perfection would have done me any good. I would only see how poorly I measured up. We are inclined to follow something else that was broken, and found a way.

We are being inspired to guard our thoughts and guide our own way through Vigilant Consciousness in all directions. All directions means, East (Inspiration), South (Relationships), West (Unknown Future), and North (Wisdom). We’re called to hold in our own thoughts the Single Mind of our Divine Spirit, applying the Spiritual Tool of Love to all the directions of our Experience. The Divine Answers will always be right in front of us.

Imagine yourself standing at the center of the Medicine Wheel. You are in need of some Divine Direction. Does it have to do with your relationships? Or the Unknown? If you move into the position of the Medicine Wheel that relates to your issue, the answer will always be in the direction in front of you. For example, if you fear the Unknown (West), your Answer is in the Divine Inspiration (East) that led you there. Turn back to the direction of your Divine Inspiration. If you are having trouble with a Relationship, stand in the South and look North toward the Direction of Wisdom. Seek Wise counsel and draw upon the Wisdom of your own Experience. You will know the Wise thing to do.

This is how Deer upholds the Pillars and Foundation of our Higher Ground in Spirit, by Remembering to draw upon its own Tools of Divine Consciousness. The only way we can fail is to pretend we will never fall. Our Highest Demonstration is a Source of Love that will Lift us Up when we fall. The Message of our Mission is Unconditional Love.

There is a Meaning and Purpose for the Mission that holds the Divine Intention of Harmony and Equity. The Blessing of Service holds an Equal Reward for the Giver and the Receiver. The Creator Knows our Heart. More important than all our own Creations is the longing to know we mattered. We all hope to make some contribution that will be remembered when we’re gone. Our lives don’t feel complete without knowing we actually made a difference to someone. The Deer offers this Blessing through a Mission of Service. As we help others, we’ll fulfill our own Divine Reason for Being.

To all my relations, may we Be Here Now with the Creator. May we grasp the thread that connects us to the Power of Divinity. May we be Vigilant of the thoughts of Love shared with us, as the Consciousness we will attempt to hold as our guiding thoughts. May we prepare ourselves for a climb of pushing away the negative thoughts of our “double-mind.” We don’t have to own them, only be conscious of them. May we offer our Gratitude and Appreciation for the Faith that will be turned into Believing it is possible. May we look into our future to the Promise ahead. Our Ascension waits on 13 Storm/CAUAC. A single thread of Ether will be transformed into the Unbridled Force of Lightning will magnify all the particles of our Being to the Creator’s Mind of Love. Our ending is a Renewal and Regeneration of Spirit, connected to the Divine Consciousness of the Omega, the All-in-One. May we face the chaos of our change holding Consciousness of the Creator’s Promise, that the Meaning and Purpose of our Mission will fulfill our Divine Destiny. May we give thanks for a Divine Reason to Be.

SPIRITUAL TOOL: Gratitude is the Gift of Magic that Jaguar/IX shared. Human Gratitude can turn Faith into Believing. Days leading up to a Global Burner were observed as days to Count our Blessings. This will help us recognize quickly when negative thoughts pass by. Through Gratitude we’ll Remember the provisions made for us and see the evidence of Miracles in our Life. To uphold the pillars of our Relationships we can express Gratitude for each other, sharing the Meaning and Purpose they’ve fulfilled in our life.

1 Deer/MANIK (Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi)

Galactic Tone 1: Unity. One is the beginning of all things, the first, the whole and the all in one. One’s are assertive and self-guided and give a good push to whatever project they are associated with. One persons work best when meeting a challenge. Do not expect One-persons to be attentive to details or to put the finishing touches on things.

Deer/MANIK (Hand): Deer are spirit tools. Silence itself is a spiritual experience for Deer. For Deer life is a pilgrimage. Deer are dominant persons who defend the people and will make sacrifices for others. The spirit of Deer upholds the pillars of the four directions. With the power inherent in the number four, Deer pushes away bad influences or negative energies. Skill and quality of work are very important to Deer. They are presented with tools for every task in life and it is with these that they are able to rise above limitations. Deer has a habit of keeping every tool it has ever used. This leads to clutter and indecision, loss and procrastination. When confronted with promises not kept, Deer becomes stubborn, manipulative and evasive.

Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi: Symbolized by Constellation Galagina, the Stag, known as Taurus, the Bull. It does not include the Pleiades and Hyades clusters which in Cherokee are viewed as separate. To feed, gatherers of food and supplies, they enjoy rituals, ceremonials, feasts, the souls of hospitality, sociability. Freedom versus security issues often inspire leadership and unique solutions.  Combined with artistic and inspiring energies in harmony with lunar cycles, they nourish the clans. Totem-Deer:  A priest or shaman, a powerful person in general, to overwhelm an individual with one’s personal power, divination; inclined to become a teacher, healer, guru, civic leader, or politician.  Ability to create harmonic resonance.
