MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
Peak Tone 7 completes our first climb of Spiritual Growth. At the top of the pyramid we’re given a 20/20, 360 view to see “all that is” and “all that is not.” Tone 7 is the place of Balance, the application of the “great law” of Creation, “As Above, So Below.”
How we guide our thoughts Above, will determine a discernment of Truth Below. Our thoughts manifest what we see in the world. With Consciousness, we have the power to direct thoughts by our own Intentions.
Deer/MANIK reflects the Way of Discernment that will be our Human path of Divinity. MANIK is the sign of the Mayan priest. MANIK holds ALL the Spiritual Tools of Divine Discernment.
The glyph illustrates 2 Intentions of Movement that will always lead to our Divine Destiny. The circle represents the eye of the Deer. The Deer is a nahaul of Vigilant Consciousness. In a herd of Deer, one will always serve as the leader who keeps a vigilant watch. The rest keep an eye on the Deer. From peripheral vision, they will know when to move. The glyph illustrates a Hand, another name for MANIK. The forefinger and thumb grasp a thread of Ether that connects a Divine Circuit of Power. MANIK holds the power of Harmonic Resonance, connecting with an Unseen Force of electromagnetic energy, others are drawn into sympathy with the Vibration of Love.
Deer symbolizes the stability of 4 legs. It’s said that MANIK has one leg planted in each of the 4 directions to uphold the Pillars of our Dreams. Deer stands on Faith in its own Truth without any need to defend its ground. Deer stands on a Higher Ground from within.
Master Number 77 and May 20/2020: Deer/MANIK holds position 7 and Kin numbers that end in 7 all the way across the Tzolk’in round. The Deer’s way always leads us to the place where we see clearly, “all that is” and “all that is not” a Divine Way to Love. Unconditional Love offered the Sacred Right to Choose. When the choice is up to us, we can choose the Tool that stands up for us, that helps us remember ways that are an Expression of Love, without enforcing our way on another as the Only Way. The Elders said, there are MANY ways to accomplish the same thing. We have to choose what works for us, that we can FEEL as our Truth.
Deer resides in the West, the place of the Unknown Future. Holding the Element of Water that holds the Ether of Spirit, Deer/MANIK speaks through the language of the Heart, and the Feelings of CHICCHAN. The Power of our Own Spark of CHICCHAN can draw others into sympathy.
The Mayan priest is not a preacher. The Maya followed the Divine thoughts of their Ascended Ancestors, though they have no religious doctrine. The Mayan priest served as a demonstration of Faith, calling others through the Laws of Attraction. The duty of the Mayan priest is to carry on – to Count the Days and observe the Sacred Ceremonies and Light the Sacred Fires on behalf of the Whole. As others saw the Call for Divine Intervention, they were inclined to follow. The Service of the Mayan priest was about Remembering what we Know and Feel in our Heart.
To carry on the Way of the Mayan priest requires vigilant consciousness to stand in the Integrity of Truth. None of us can be a perfect example as long as we exist in Duality. More important than perfection is the Humility to Kneel before an altar, where we can see the Divinity of our Intention – and the Truth of our Heart’s Longing to be pleasing to a Divine Creator. On our Knees our hearts are One with the Love that places no conditions on the success or failure of a Divine Intention to Love.
If we haven’t failed, we haven’t reached high enough. Our failure can be the proof to our Self, that we gave everything we had to give to a Divine End. At an altar we can remember that When Human Fails, a Divine Power is waiting to Intervene.
Deer/MANIK is the Giver of Spiritual Tools. Brought into our consciousness by the Mayan priest are all the Tools of Spirit we are given to accomplish our end. The Deer’s Mission is a Divine Strategy to keep our thoughts on course to their end. The Deer’s only shadow comes from keeping every Spiritual Tool its ever used. We have to continually seek new and higher strategies. Yet, our greatest Power is that Vigilant Focus. Our most basic tool is focusing through One path we call our own.
Observing other ways of Spirit has helped me to understand why I believe what I believe, and also to see that we are all following a path toward that same destination of Love. Like the 8 Precepts of Buddhism, they gave me a new way to understand the Intentions of 10 commandments in a way to see New Truth and a Higher Perspective. We can always learn something from Divine Ways and all the Paths that are a Mission to Love.
Though, sometimes if we have too many things going, we miss an order and a continuum of a rhythm and pattern of thought. There are Times and Places on every path that are marked for Initiation… and the path leads to it. I’ve learned I can also have too many sacred objects – never assigned a specific purpose or intention, the way of building relationship and a Conscious Association as a specific tool. From the Pachakuti Mesa tradition I learned that for any object to serve as a Sacred Tool we must invest the Time to create a relationship of thought that associates the Intention and Purpose, including Remembering to Ask Permission, and to Give Thanks and Appreciation for an alignment of Divine Purpose. You can create relationship by remembering where it came from, and returning a blessing to all “like things” that were chosen for a Divine Purpose in your life. The center piece of the Mesa altar is a Sacred Object to represent our Self, and around it the sacred objects to symbolize each of the 4 directions. The next piece we added was a stone of protection. It was the first piece outside of those that represented our Self and the All Around of our Life. I chose a black basalt stone and held it for a time – it’s a very hard stone, solid to hold onto. Once a stone is consecrated and placed at the altar, every time you go back your thoughts will identify with that Intention, and each time the memory will become stronger of the prayers for Divine Protection. If you are just beginning an altar, it may begin with a candle and a stone that will be you in the center. You can grow to remember that an Unseen Force of You is there at the altar in a place of Vigilant Consciousness – you were there in Communion with the Creator, even when you forget. You might Know that God Remembers you’ve intended a Mission of Love.
Of ALL MANIK’s tools, the most Divine is the Tool that holds a Provision for every human limitation. When none of our other Spiritual Tools appear to be working, we can rely on the Tool of ALL PROVISION. It only makes sense that the Creator would always leave One Way Open as a Light that would shine through every darkness. MANIK is said to hold the power to push away negative thoughts. The One Divine Tool of Provision for every limitation, WILL push away ANY fear.
Tone 7 hold the Intention of a Divine Discernment through a Reflection between the Above and the Below. Given the perfect Balance of all things, everything our Consciousness learns from one thing can be applied to another. The top of the pyramids were built Above the canopy, seen as a threshold – human’s pinnacle view of all that is Below, that like a reflecting pool, illustrates a Mirror image of a Divine Truth Above.
At the top of the calendar pyramid, El Castillo, is the Holy Altar in the Temple to Kulkulkan, the Feathered Serpent of CHICHAN – the Descending Light. In the first inner room is Chac mool, the seated figure that holds an altar at the center of its being. Chac mool illustrates the Light as Breath that enters through our physical being at our solar plexus and rises to open our Conscious thoughts, our Divine Eye of Spirit. The second inner room is guarded by the Jaguar, the shape-shifter who can cross the dimensions of Spirit. The Jaguar’s magic is invisibility and gratitude. Gratitude is the Jaguar’s “earth magic.”
At the Highest Altar we are prepared for a Leap of Faith. Through a Reflection of Gratitude, our own Faith will be transformed into Believing. We will be made to stand on the Truth we Know from Above. We could see things differently. Instead of that descent back to another Human beginning, we could leap through the reflection above onto stairs that reach higher beyond the veil. We stand in the Balance, measured by an Intention to Love that WILL stand as our Offering of Faith to Believe.
The IMIX trecena offered us a climb that would reflect our Way of Living in the world below, a Divine Human Way. The Intention that could lead us through our darkness is to be an Invisible Light of Faith and Hope for the Whole. We don’t attempt to be Seen as the Leader. The effort is to be invisible to shine all the Light on the Path that is the Way to the Light. We wouldn’t have to be perfect. If we learn nothing else from failure than to turn back to the altar of Divine Light, we’ve learned everything we Need to Begin the Mission. When we get there, we’ll remember that whenever we reach the limit of Human Faith, we have reached the threshold of a Miracle.
This is how we can believe through the chaos of Major Life Change. If the illusions of the world appear beyond our power, we could know the Divine Effect. Whenever we see our own limitation, it could be our Sign that a Promise for Divine Intervention must be near.
The Mayan priest doesn’t define it’s Way as the way for others. It reminds others that the solution is at an altar, no matter how they get there. More important than the choice of a way to get there, is grasping the Truth of a Divine Communion with the Creator that will be there for every Divine Intention. ANY religion that upholds the Truth of a Divine Creator of Love, any way that is followed for the purpose of a personal relationship, is destined for the Blessing of Knowing the Truth of Divine Love. When we are kneeling in humility to Divinity, seeking relationship, a Divine Creator promises that we will always be Seen and Know the Light of a Divine Love. We were Created for the Meaning and Purpose of a Divine Relationship.
To all my relations, may we Know the Truth that a Divine Light has been waiting for us to complete our first climb to a New and Higher Consciousness of the Creator’s Love. A Divine Mother showed us how to walk to an altar where all Truth could be Seen through a Divine Light. Whenever we fail in the future, we’ll know where to go to realize a Promise of Divine Intervention – a Provision of Unconditional Love for every limitation.
Today may our Heart Know the Truth as an In-pouring of a Holy Blessing, a baptism of our Spirit. May we remember the Name we were given as the Scion, the Firstborn, the One and Only, each One of Humanity standing as the first in line to a Divine Inheritance of Love.
May we grasp the Light that will always lead us to happiness, and take a Leap of Faith. May we offer our Gratitude for a Divine Agency that will intervene to carry our Dream to the Higher Ground of Believing. May we give thanks for so many beautiful ways that Human has created to reach the Ends of Love, and the Freedom to create our own Path of Beauty, as all those before have done.

A DAILY PRACTICE: The most basic beginning for every day is lighting a candle and the smudge of sage and sweetgrass. The Elders on the traditional path taught us to use the Sage first for purification, followed by the sweet smell of sweetgrass – we draw beauty and love into the empty places that were cleared away. I morning meditation can be as simple as the Offering of our limitations into Divine Hands, and a thought to remember the Truth that a Divine Cause will always end with the Divine Effect of Love. As much as anything else, our own movement to carry it out is an investment of Divine Energy we won’t forget and a Light is there to shine the Truth.

7 Deer/MANIK (Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi)
Galactic Tone 7: Reflective. Seven stands as a mirror to divide light and dark and to reflect all that is and is not. Seven is associated with the source of creation and the flow of Divine Will. With a keen sense of ethics, Seven establishes purpose to current and future goals.
Deer/MANIK (Hand): Deer are spirit tools. Silence itself is a spiritual experience for Deer. For Deer life is a pilgrimage. Deer are dominant persons who defend the people and will make sacrifices for others. The spirit of Deer upholds the pillars of the four directions. With the power inherent in the number four, Deer pushes away bad influences or negative energies. Skill and quality of work are very important to Deer. They are presented with tools for every task in life and it is with these that they are able to rise above limitations. Deer has a habit of keeping every tool it has ever used. This leads to clutter and indecision, loss and procrastination. When confronted with promises not kept, Deer becomes stubborn, manipulative and evasive.
Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi: Symbolized by Constellation Galagina, the Stag, known as Taurus, the Bull. It does not include the Pleiades and Hyades clusters which in Cherokee are viewed as separate. To feed, gatherers of food and supplies, they enjoy rituals, ceremonials, feasts, the souls of hospitality, sociability. Freedom versus security issues often inspire leadership and unique solutions. Combined with artistic and inspiring energies in harmony with lunar cycles, they nourish the clans. Totem-Deer: A priest or shaman, a powerful person in general, to overwhelm an individual with one’s personal power, divination; inclined to become a teacher, healer, guru, civic leader, or politician. Ability to create harmonic resonance.

My gift for a New Tzolk’in Round…
Visit the 13-Day Trecena Guide for daily aspects and events of the Crocodile/IMIX trecena.
My gift for this Tzolk’in round is linked there, a Tzolk’in Field Guide that has as much about the basic aspects of each day as I could think to put into it. The directions and the elements are aspects of Universal Laws that can be known in MANY ways, through many kinds of practice. My aim with the dates for each trecena, included for the next few years, was an intention that we could have everything for a day in one place at hand, if we didn’t have a computer.
How have you changed? What do you want to do?
I love to hear from you. It’s interesting to hear how we all experience the energy in different ways. We all have something to share that can help us remember and SEE if it’s happening the same with us too!
