The Full Thunder Moon aka Full Buck Moon, July 10-11, 2025

Full Thunder Moon aka Full Buck Moon, July 10-11, 2025

This moon cycle began with the Super New Moon in its closest position to Earth (perigee) and ends with the Earth and its Moon in its farthest position from the Sun (aphelion). Traditionally, each full Moon name was applied to the entire lunar month in which it occurred, not solely to the full Moon. This moon cycle began on the New Moon, June 25, 2025, in the zodiac sign Cancer. The Full Moon ends the cycle in the sign of Capricorn, though the effects carry on through the Last Quarter, July 18, 2025.

The July 2025 Full Moon occurs less than a week after Earth reached aphelion — the point in its orbit that is most distant from the Sun — making it the farthest full moon from the sun in 2025.

  • Aphelion is the point of the Earth’s orbit that is farthest away from the Sun. It always happens in early July, about 2 weeks after the June solstice,
  • Perihelion is the point of the Earth’s orbit that is nearest to the Sun. This always happens in early January, about 2 weeks after the December Solstice.

The Full Thunder Moon of July – MoonGiant.com

July’s full moon is called the Full Thunder Moon, after the frequent thunderstorms that roll in during early summer. Thunderstorms are more likely to form in humid environments during summer because of the moist, hot air rising from the ground to the higher, colder parts of our atmosphere. The Full Thunder Moon is, therefore, a warning sign for a surprisingly dangerous time of the year.

The Full Buck Moon – Old Farmer’s Almanac

The full Moon in July is called the Buck Moon because the antlers of male deer (bucks) are in full-growth mode at this time. Bucks shed and regrow their antlers each year, producing a larger and more impressive set as the years go by.

Several other names for this month’s Moon also reference animals, including Feather Moulting Moon (Cree) and Salmon Moon, a Tlingit term indicating when fish returned to the area and were ready to be harvested.

Full Moon in Capricorn, Astrological Meaning – YogaJournal

The full Moon in Capricorn arrives as an anchor amid Cancer season’s emotional waters. Although our feelings can sometimes overwhelm us, this Moon offers a grounded and steady foundation where we can process and understand these emotional depths.

Capricorn connects us with our life’s work, which isn’t necessarily a career or a job title. Your life’s work could be raising children, tending the garden, writing poetry, or cultivating a spiritual practice. As the full Moon illuminates, it asks you to explore what constitutes meaningful work in your life. What activities align with your soul’s mission? What efforts make you feel purposeful at the deepest level?

The full Moon in Capricorn is an invitation to focus on what truly matters, to release what doesn’t serve your highest good, and to recommit your attention to the path that makes your soul come alive. Your focus is your power. In our world, countless things are designed to steal and grab your attention. When you unconsciously give your attention away, you give away your power. This full Moon helps you reclaim that power by helping you decide what deserves your focus.

Shooting Stars June-September 2025 – StarWalk

Ten meteor showers are coming from June Solstice to September Equinox, including the renowned Perseids and prolific Southern Delta-Aquariids that will come along with Alpha Capricornids, meaning we’ll get a double meteor shower!

July 10 2025, the July Pegasids reach their peak on the night of the Full Moon, so their scarce meteors will be obscured by the bright moonlight.

July 10: July Pegasids
Designation: 175 JPE
Meteors per hour: 3
Moon illumination: 98%
Active: July 4–14
Constellation: Pegasus

Description: The July Pegasids is a weak meteor shower with a radiant located near the star Markab (Alpha Pegasi). The parent body of this meteor shower is probably the comet C/1979 Y1 (Bradfield).

NOTE: Pegasus is said to have served Zeus, carrying his thunderbolts, and to have created the Hippocrene spring with a strike of his hoof. Hippocrene is a fountain or spring on Mount Helicon, renowned as a source of poetic inspiration. (Google Pegasus Mythology)

Mayan Calendar Time

The Reed/BEN trecena is a Time of Watchfulness and Vigilance to Dwell in a Sanctuary within where we are connected to the Creator for Divine Communion of Spirit through 2 channels of Light Above. Cancer is a Water Sign, associated with our emotions, closely tied to the domestics of “home”. Reed/BEN holds the Intention of calling us home, just as thunder and lightning move us to take shelter in the storm. Today’s 11 AKBAL is the Cherokee symbol of the Hearth of Home, a sacred Fire that burns beyond the stars, tended by all the Saints, Archangels, our Guardian Angel as Legions of Light.

The Full Moon in Capricorn highlights the aspects of a well-grounded, practical, and reliable nature. Capricorn, in astrology, the 10th sign of the zodiac, considered as governing the period from about December 22 to about January 19. One explanation of the fishtail with which the goat is often represented is found in the Greek myth of Pan, who, to avoid the monster Typhon, jumped into the water just as he was changing into animal shape. The half above water assumed the shape of a goat while the lower half, the tail, assumed the shape of a fish. (Source: Britannica)

Before us lies a Choice between one extreme end and another. Capricorn, falling between December 22nd and January 19th, marks the Time of the Perihelion, Earth’s closest position to the Sun, as well as the Solstice and the Day of Jesus birth.

The Full Thunder Moon is “a warning sign for a surprisingly dangerous time of the year.” The Full Buck Moon, when the Deer grows its antlers, is a Mayan symbol of the Divine Antennae of the Mayan priest.  Deer/MANIK is the symbol of a Human hand dedicated to the Creator’s Highest Cause. The Mayan priest is Vigilant, carrying out a dedicated daily practice to Count the Days, and look to the Signs for the meaning and purpose of Time.

This is not a Time for lukewarm Faith. In the Year of Jubilee, we’re doubly invested for a double blessing. We can either be struck by a lightning bolt of Truth or we can Dwell where the Living Water springs forth as the Divine Inspiration for our Heart’s Desire.

Revelation 3:16 KJV
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

BLESS THE LORD OH MY SOUL
Everything in me bless his Holy Name all the Day Long.

11 Night/AKBAL (Cherokee, Hearth/O’YA) – Day 11 of 13 of the 1 Reed/BEN trecena

Descriptions by Ian Xel Lungold (12 Sun/AHAU), wisdom and Tzolk’in calculator preserved on MayanMajix.com

Galactic Tone 11: Resolution; 11 assists every new thing to find its place in the universe in the process of ‘fitting in.’ some modifications must occur. Eleven is the energy of dynamic actions facilitating change, simplification and improvement.

Night/Akbal: Bringers of the Dawn. Dreamers who bring the new sun to clarify and illuminate the road of life. Thus the insecurities and doubts born of darkness of the sub-conscious mind are dispelled. These persons travel the Void. a place where nothing yet exists but all potential dwells, the womb of creation. From this void, Night persons bring forth new solutions and artistic inspiration. Night’s voyages of dreams build confidence and happiness with a sense of well being. If night does not bravely journey into the void they may find themselves wandering the darkness of self doubt and insecurity.

A GOOD DAY TO: Spend some time contemplating the stars.

Cherokee, Hearth/O’YA: Hearth’s symbol is the fire pit in the Center, velvet black as the night. The triangle in Orion. The M42 nebula (home of the Central race from the WingMakers) in the center of the triangle of Orion is the fire in the Hearth, also matching the Mayan. The Hearth is the Torchbearer who holds the light and warmth throughout the night. Belief is so strong that the surrounding elements become entrained to their rhythm and all resistance falls away. With respect and honor of intuition combined with knowledge this energy creates the magic of the center in this dimension. AKBAL-Night-Totem-OWL: Guardian of the Night Sun. Energies for the opening of mystic secrets, seeing through the masks of deception, trickery. High ability of discernment. Portals open to other worlds and dimensions for your learning and spiritual growth. Magical abilities are possible.
