Friends at Big Bear Valley announced that the Funding Goal to preserve the Eagle’s habitat were met July 24, 2026.
Sandy Steers has been watching over Jackie and Shadow’s nest since Friends at Big Bear Valley was established. She left this place on 2/22/2026 for a perch Above. She must be smiling down today with gratitude for everyone who joined in the Cause.
Let’s not forget the part played by the Eagles. Jackie and Shadow, and their collective family — Spirit, Sunny, Gizmo, Sandy and Luna were the Inspiration that is preserving the habitat for all living things in their neighborhood.
The Coronal Hole has closed, though Sunspot AR4493 is coming back to life.
INCREASING CHANCE OF SOLAR FLARES: The magnetic field of big sunspot 4493 is complexifying again. After some simplification yesterday, it has once again developed a unstable delta-configuration that poses a threat for strong solar flares. NOAA forecasters estimate a 55% chance of M-class flares and a 10% chance of X-flares on July 24th.
The Guardian of the Night/AKBAL trecena is 13 Eagle/MEN, the promise of the end from the beginning. May we hold Faith for Jackie and her climb of recovery.
Spirit the bald eagle at Calm Zoo donated blood to help save Jackie, the beloved Big Bear Valley eagle who is fighting for her life after an attack. She received a blood transfusion from Spirit the bald eagle donates blood to help injured Jackie. See the News Video from 23ABC News on YouTube.
Is it a coincidence, or a Sign of God’s mysterious ways that Jackie may be saved by the blood of an Eagle that bears the name as her first begotten? Spirit at the CALM Zoo is not Jackie’s offspring. Spirit is a long-time resident adult eagle at the California Living Museum (CALM) in Bakersfield.

SOMETHING FLARE-Y THIS WAY COMES: A new and active sunspot is emerging over the sun’s eastern limb. It announced itself on July 4th with an X1.3-class solar flare:
To celebrate America’s 250th birthday on July 4, 2026, the largest fleet of the world’s most magnificent tall ships and gray hull ships will sail into New York Harbor, pass in Presidential review, and salute the Statue of Liberty.
After their grand arrival, international fleets will be docked for a week along New York City’s piers for spectators to tour and explore.

STRONG GEOMAGNETIC STORM–NOW! A strong G3-class geomagnetic storm is underway as Earth passes through the wake of a CME that struck on July 3rd. Observers in more than 30 US states are reporting auroras–some mixed with 4th of July fireworks.

Sandy and Luna, 07/03/2026 – Jackie and Shadow’s nest with a view of the rising Sun and the Big Bear Valley Solar Observatory
The Eagles favorite view looks toward the East where the Sun rises. Sandy and Luna may have fledged 2 weeks earlier than sisters Sunny and Gizmo in the last brood. Sandy was accidentally knocked off her perch by little brother Luna. Then Luna had to spend the night alone and fledged the next day.
The timing may have been turned to the highest good. They both made their way back home where they can use the safety of the nest as their base of operations. Eating fish on a branch is a little tricky. They only have to call on Jackie for home delivery.
They have the best accommodations (with room service). They know they can fly and make their way back, so they are free to come and go.
