A New Day… A New Egg…
Friends of Big Bear Valley have been anticipating a new egg. Jackie and Shadow have been spending time together in the nest making preparations. The new video from the Eagle’s nest cam shares the labor of Love and the moment that Jackie lays her new egg February 24, 2026, 14:35 PST. Jackie whistles while she works.
Forecasts for Big Bear Valley look like Spring weather ahead. Last season she endured days buried in the snow keeping her eggs warm. This appears to be Divine Timing to replace two eggs that were broken weeks before. The full report from FBBV is included with the video.
Sandy Steers’ final mission was to save their habitat and home. Their future depends on a funding deadline in July 2026. Details of Sandy’s labor of love and the link for donations is offered below… a worthy memorial.
This afternoon, Jackie laid the first egg of the second clutch. She spent much of the day at the nest and pancaked for longer periods of time. During one of those pancake sessions, her wings began to spread/droop revealing more of the upper part of her white tail. Her eyes also looked very sleepy. These are the first signs she will likely be laying an egg.
As labor progressed, she stood up to a squatting position, she let out a couple of squeals, and her tail flapped up and down. She roused her feathers and soon after, more tea kettle whistles came. If you watch closely, you can see her body tense up as she is pushing the egg out.
Jackie generally lays two to three eggs per clutch, and they have been laid three days apart. If she is going to lay a second egg, we will start watching for the above signs on Friday. A bit later, Shadow flew in with half a coot for Jackie. He laid it down, waited, looking at Jackie, maybe wondering why she isn’t getting up to eat… she is usually on the food quickly!
Eventually Shadow ate the coot, all of it! Maybe at that point he should have been suspicious that she didn’t want to eat, after all, Jackie is always hungry. Once Shadow turned around to feak his beak, Jackie stood up and revealed the egg. Shadow took a look and took a closer look.
He may have thought at that point, Oh my, she laid an egg and I ate her dinner! He didn’t stay long, but he returned later with a bit of fluff for the egg. He waited around, maybe hoping to get a turn on the egg, but Jackie wasn’t moving any time soon. Shadow headed out to roost for the night, and Jackie is getting some much-needed sleep.
Rest well Jackie & Shadow, tomorrow will bring a new adventure!

“PRAY WITHOUT CEASING” – THE HOLY SPIRIT WATCHES THE HOURS WE SLEEP
The next time you’re Called to Pray, refer to the 8 Watches by the Time of Day. The Bible refers to Watchers from Above (‘iyr in Hebrew) in Daniel 4:13, 17, 23. We’re called to our prayers by high-ranking angelic beings sent from heaven to observe and execute divine decrees. You may find the reason you were called to pray by the watch of the Day.
THE EIGHT WATCHES
Night Watch
- First Watch: 6 pm – 9 pm – Contemplation and laying foundations in prayer.
- Second Watch: 9 pm – 12 am – Intercessory prayer for protection of ourselves and those around us
- Third Watch: 12 am – 3 am – Spiritual warfare (We are covered by the blood of Jesus.)
- Fourth Watch: 3 am – 6 am – Prophetic prayer because you are commanding your morning with prophetic decrees and declaring God’s word
Day Watch
- Fifth Watch: 6 am – 9 am – Petitions. Ask for strength and surrender. Ask for the Holy Spirit to help you before you start your day
- Sixth Watch: 9 am – 12 pm – Thanksgiving prayer
- Seventh Watch : 12 pm – 3 pm – This is the seventh watch of rest. 7 Biblically represents that. This is a time to seek God in the secret place
- Eighth Watch: 3 pm – 6 pm – This is the eight and final watch of the night and a time for prayer for revival and renewal. Symbolically, Christ died at 3 pm.

Galactic Tone 8: Justice. Harmony and balance are the intent of Eight. Eights carefully weigh all evidence to reach a balance of justice. Eight is the power of organization demonstrated in the statement, “As above, so below”. From simplicity to infinity, the energy of Eight organizes all levels of creation. Some Eights are “Neat Freaks”.
Jaguar/IX: Born with a deep love of the Mother Earth, Jaguar or shaman is directly tied to the source of all Earth magic. They possess great power of intellect and strength or character through integrity. Jaguar energy is feminine in nature and is the ruling spirit of jungles, plains, and mountains. The spirit of Jaguar inhabits the Mayan temples and is called on to assist in spiritual as well as in material ways. Jaguar is also the god/goddess of gratefulness. Patience born of strength and skill can turn to pounce of quick decision and action. Both bold and stealthful, Jaguars do not often attack directly and communications from them usually contain some mystery. In the absence of integrity, Jaguars power corrupts becoming a search for wealth and fame.
A GOOD DAY TO: Commune and give thanks to Mother Earth.
Cherokee, Panther/SAHO’NI: Panther is symbolized by comets, meteors, shooting stars, fireballs, and magicians. The Jaguar’s “earth magic” is gratitude. Meteors appearing around the middle of November are Heralds of the Coming of the Light. Conducive to pray for grandmothers, mothers, daughters, sisters and wives day. For wisdom at 4 Balances, cunning and protection of Mother Nature. To thank the Earth for sustenance. Ix is the native cunning, enterprising, vigorous, bold and realistic.
