QUIET GIANT SUNSPOT: Big sunspots usually produce big solar flares. That’s why the eerie quiet of sunspot 4079 is so strange. Despite being more than half the size of Carrington’s sunspot, the today’s behemoth has produced only a handful of puny C-class flares:
Is this the calm before the storm? Or just calm?
A clue may lie in the heart of the sunspot, which is bisected by a canyon of light. The split is shown here in a multiwavelength animation from Yvan Trembley of Versailles, France:
Solar physicists call this a “light bridge.” The nature of light bridges is not fully understood. Often they herald the break-up of a sunspot, but not always. Some research suggests that magnetic fields at the base of a light bridge are busy cross-crossing and reconnecting–the same explosive process that sparks powerful solar flares.
Does this mean the primary core of sunspot 4079 will explode? Or quietly fall apart? No one can say. However, the appearance of a light bridge usually means that something is about to happen.

THE SOLAR WIND IS BLOWING AGAIN: Over the weekend, solar wind speeds topped 700 km/s (1.6 million mph), sparking hours of minor G1-class geomagnetic storms. It could happen again today. After subsiding on May 4th, solar wind speeds are picking up again on May 5th, exceeding 700 km/s. High-latitude sky watchers should remain alert for auroras.

NOTE: Sunspot 4079 has reached the halfway point of its rotation across the face of the sun. Tomorrow it could be within range to deliver a glancing blow to earth. Within 2 days it should be well within the “danger zone” for earth-directed eruptions.

11 Flint/ETZNAB represents the Light of Truth delivered from Above like a “crystal sword cast down along the path of a lightning strike.” It represents the static energy before a hidden Truth is revealed that generates the dynamic energy for change. The 5:5:25 portal represented by the 5th day, in the 5th month of a 25 year repeats the (5) symbol of empowerment for change. Tone 11 repeats the thought, representing the Highest Truth from Above, a wake-up call and code of activation. Master Number 11 is a symbol of the Source and Substance of Divine Inspiration.
Flint/ETZNAB is the stressful build up before the lightning of a Storm/CAUAC that finds its path to the heart of those who reach in Faith to the Highest One. Flint’s truth cuts to the heart of a matter and wipes the slate clean of stagnant thoughts and feelings that must be expressed to experience a breakthrough. Related to the Element of Air, Flint relates to faculties of discernment (thoughts). Today an unexpected Truth that was hidden or covered up is revealed, and we are restored to balance as a question or shadow of a doubt is swept away. The Star/LAMAT trecena completes the Tzolk’in round, multiplying to abundance whatever we have focused on as the highest object of our affection. The challenge is to focus on what we want, and turn away from the thoughts of doubt and fear. We are empowered by self reflection in a private communion with the Creator. This is a day when we can be tempted to “speak our mind.” Everyone is affected. It’s best to take the time to think about it instead of reacting to our emotions. Words we speak will not be forgotten. Speak words of Faith and Gratitude that the Creator knows its Time for the Truth to be revealed.
By the Christian calendar, the Truth revealed is the Empowerment of the Holy Spirit, the sacred exchange for those who Fear the Lord and abide in Faith through the darkness and the light.
5 is the symbol of Empowerment, Liberation, and the Freedom to Be in synchronicity with the celebration of Cinco de Mayo. The 25 is repeated in the 2025 Year of Jubilee – a year of open doors and double blessings. The Star/LAMAT trecena is a cycle of “pure luck” – good or bad, depending our thoughts.

Galactic Tone 11: Resolution; 11 assists every new thing to find its place in the universe in the process of ‘fitting in.’ some modifications must occur. Eleven is the energy of dynamic actions facilitating change, simplification and improvement.
Flint/ETZNAB: Mirror of reality. As a struck flint, these persons are the divine sparks of intelligence. Flint’s innate abilities are utilized to discriminate emotions from fact. Flint persons stand tireless to protect, defend, or cure others by personal sacrifice. By courageously wielding the sword of truth, falsehoods are cut away. Flints, it was said, can receive information on inter-personal troubles or evil plots of others by reflecting in an obsidian mirror. Their valiant service as warriors of the truth must be impeccable or they will experience sufferings of accidents, misunderstandings and gossip.
