Lupus and Vela: Astronomers yet to find simultaneous novas

SPACEWEATHER.COM NEWS: 06/30/2025

“EXTREMELY RARE”–TWO NAKED-EYE NOVA: A person could go a lifetime without seeing a star explode with their own eyes. Right now, people in the southern hemisphere can see two stars exploding at the same time. The first (V462 Lupi) appeared on June 12th in the constellation Lupus, and the second (V572 Velorum) on June 25th in Vela. They’re both brighter than 6th magnitude, the threshold for naked-eye visibility.

“This is without question an extremely rare event, if not an historical one,” says astronomer Stephen O’Meara, who has been scouring historical records for the last time this happened. “I have yet to find an occurrence of two simultaneous nova appearing at the same time.”

“I thought I had found a pair in 1936 (V630 Sgr and V368 Aql),” he says. “But I looked at their light curves, and it turns out they were not at maximum brightness at the same time.”

These appear to be classical novas. First documented by Chinese astronomers some 2000 years ago, the explosions occur in binary star systems. White dwarf stars steal gas from a bloated partner until the stolen fuel ignites in a sudden thermonuclear blast. It’s less dramatic than a supernova, but still an awesome blast.

Nova V462 Lupi is currently near magnitude +5.9, while V572 Velorum, fading from a peak near +4.8, is the brighter of the two. Southern astronomers, this may not happen again for a loooong time. Submit your photos here.

A CME IS COMING: But it’s not a big one. A minor CME is expected to strike Earth during the late hours of July 1st, according to a NASA model. The impact could spark G1-class geomagnetic storms with high-latitude auroras on July 2nd.

Mayan Calendar Time and Synchronicity

2 Jaguar/IX is a communion of 2 Spirits as One. In the 2025 Year of Jubilee, new doors open and blessings are doubled. The Full Thunder Moon cycle culminates on a Supermoon, July 10-11, 2025, ending on 13 Serpent/CHICCHAN. CHICCHAN represents a Force that ignites Life and Creation as the Fire of Spirit the Maya call “lightning in the blood.” CHICCHAN is the Force of Knowing by Feeling and an awakening of Spiritual Gifts – compared to the Yod, a fateful touch by the finger of God.

If T CrB novas in Corona Borealis while the these two novas are still visible, 3 novas would be an epic event. Lupus represents the sacrifice of a Dog, the Mayan symbol of Unconditional Love.

Vela, “The Sails”, was part of a much larger constellation known as Argo Navis, the ship Argo. Argo was the vessel that Jason and the Argonauts sailed on during their quest for the Golden Fleece. In the mid-eighteenth century French astronomer Nicolas-Louis de La Caille divided this super constellation into three parts; Carina, Puppis and Vela. He also created a fourth constellation, Pyxis, using stars from part of this vast group. (Argo the movie was about a master plan of escape and freedom from captivity.)

The Thunder Full Moon Supermoon is a Higher Tide, and a good time to set sail to a distant horizon.  The Golden Fleece was a symbol of authority and kingship that was stolen. Returning what was stolen is God’s Promise of Divine Justice.

The Reed/BEN trecena represents the guiding Light for Home and 2 in Divine Trinity, as 1. Look for signs coming in pairs and doubles. On 13 Serpent/CHICCHAN we may know what they mean.

If T CrB novas in Corona Borealis while the these two novas are still visible, 3 novas would be an epic event.

Galactic Tone 2: Mysterious as the question ‘to be or not to be?” Two is the recognition of the separation of self from all else and the desire to be rejoined. Walking a balance while making choices of all kinds, light/dark, male/female, good/bad, Yin/Yang, is the energy of this number. Experiencing the differences between one and another is the use and purpose of this number.

Jaguar/IX: Born with a deep love of the Mother Earth, Jaguar or shaman is directly tied to the source of all Earth magic. They possess great power of intellect and strength or character through integrity. Jaguar energy is feminine in nature and is the ruling spirit of jungles, plains, and mountains. The spirit of Jaguar inhabits the Mayan temples and is called on to assist in spiritual as well as in material ways. Jaguar is also the god/goddess of gratefulness. Patience born of strength and skill can turn to pounce of quick decision and action. Both bold and stealthful, Jaguars do not often attack directly and communications from them usually contain some mystery. In the absence of integrity, Jaguars power corrupts becoming a search for wealth and fame.

A GOOD DAY TO: Commune and give thanks to Mother Nature.

Cherokee, Panther/SAHO’NI: Panther is symbolized by comets, meteors, shooting stars, fireballs, and magicians.  Meteors appearing around the middle of November are Heralds of the Coming of the Light, the Cherokee New Year. Panther is the Shadow of the Sphinx, Herald of the Dawn, guardian of the night when the sun is traveling through the underworld. Panthers have unlimited imaginations, visualizations, and are spellbinding speakers. The Cherokee Totem Jaguar is the guardian of the portals to other dimensions; shamanic abilities will open; multi-dimensional magic; healer, leader, way shower energy when used for spiritual growth.  Abuse would be for using this power for control or negative purposes; must find a powerful balance. Ix: The Kab’awil represents the heart of the planet, the female reproductive tract, the face of a jaguar and points east on the world map. Ix: woman, tiger. Conducive to pray for grandmothers, mothers, daughters, sisters and wives day. Balances, cunning and protection of Mother Nature. To thank the Earth for sustenance.
