SPACEWEATHER: Artemis II to Send Images from the Farside of the Moon

How Artemis II will fly around the Moon (Astronomy Magazine)

SPACEWEATHER.COM NEWS: 04/06/2026

TODAYARTEMIS II FLIES BY THE FARSIDE : Artemis II is making a historic pass over the Moon’s farside today, April 6th, giving astronauts a view no human has seen since Apollo. Communications with Earth will go silent for ~40 minutes during the farside transit. When contact resumes, the crew will beam high-resolution images back to Earth–including rare views of a solar eclipse behind the Moon.

COMET MAPS WAS OBLITERATED (UPDATED): The solar system has one less comet. On April 4th, Comet MAPS (C/2026 A1) flew through the sun’s atmosphere only 160,000 km above the sun’s surface. The comet went in, but only a cloud of debris came out:

SOHO coronagraphs captured the death dive, which was invisible from Earth. In the movie, above, there’s a sudden brightening around 0300 UTC, That was probably the comet’s nucleus exploding due to thermal stress.

While the comet was behind the coronagraph’s occulting disk, the fragmented nucleus was vaporized, leaving only a stream of dusty debris to exit on the other side.

The emerging dust cloud is not amorphous. On the contrary, it is organized into a spray of narrow structures called “striae.” These are rare narrow bands of light dust observed in the tails of certain high-production-rate comets. (Exploding is a good way to turn a comet into a “high producer.”)

Right: A short SOHO coronagraph movie centered on the emerging striae.

Astronomers had hoped for a different ending. Comet MAPS was discovered last January farther from the sun than any sungrazer in history. It looked like it might be unusually big–perhaps big enough to survive and even become visible in broad daylight. Instead, RIP, Comet MAPS.

Galactic Tone 9: Patience. The energy of Nine is one of the getting a better perspective of the bigger picture. With the energy of Nine plans or patterns begin to come to completion. Nine requires patience and perseverance that is found in the bigger picture, otherwise there is great suffering from the lack of insight. The completion of cycles of action is all-important to Nine.

Jaguar/IX: Born with a deep love of the Mother Earth, Jaguar or shaman is directly tied to the source of all Earth magic. They possess great power of intellect and strength or character through integrity. Jaguar energy is feminine in nature and is the ruling spirit of jungles, plains, and mountains. The spirit of Jaguar inhabits the Mayan temples and is called on to assist in spiritual as well as in material ways. Jaguar is also the god/goddess of gratefulness.

A GOOD DAY TO: Commune with and give thanks to Mother Nature.

Panther is the Shadow of the Sphinx, Herald of the Dawn, guardian of the night when the sun is traveling through the underworld. Panthers have unlimited imaginations, visualizations, and are spellbinding speakers. The Cherokee Totem Jaguar is the guardian of the portals to other dimensions; Divine abilities will open; multi-dimensional magic; healer, leader, way shower energy when used for spiritual growth.  Conducive to pray for grandmothers, mothers, daughters, sisters and wives day.
