SOLAR ECLIPSE IMAGES AVAILABLE NOW: Today’s solar eclipse is over, and the photos are flooding in to our gallery. Sky watchers in Europe saw a very deep partial eclipse and totality, while some in the USA witnessed a shallow partial eclipse.
On the island of Mallorca, Elias Chasiotis watched a warped crescent sun sink into the Mediterranean:
“The setting eclipsed sun was distorted by multiple mirages (Fata Morgana),” says Chasiotis. “It was very rewarding!”
The first images of totality with the Spanish landscape in the foreground are arriving now. It was the weirdest sunset in many years. Browse the gallery for all the latest images.

GREAT PERSEIDS TONIGHT: Why is this year’s Perseid meteor shower so good? Two words: New. Moon. When the shower peaks on the night of Aug. 12-13, there won’t be a single photon of moonlight to spoil the show.
The shower is already underway. NASA all-sky cameras have detected more than a dozen fireballs every night this week. This morning, Troy Bryan saw this one with his own eyes over Scottsbluff, Nebraska:
“After the fireball passed by, we could see its debris twisting in the upper atmospheric winds (inset),” says Bryan.
When the shower peaks tonight, meteor rates will surge with as many as 100 sightings every hour ranging from faint streaks to exploding fireballs.
The source of the shower is giant comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle. Its nucleus is 26 km wide–more than twice the size of the object that wiped out the dinosaurs. Every 133 years it swings through the inner solar system, laying down a fresh ribbon of dust for Earth to plow through each August.

Solar Eclipses mark an end and the beginning of a new cycle of the Sun’s Light. The heavens appear to be celebrating in Divine Trinity. So is the Lion’s Gate closing today. We have officially been transported to the other side of everything that’s gone before.
Solar Eclipses have become a Collective Experience. So are many collectively grieving the passing of Jackie. Many are sharing their love for her on YouTube. As the portal closes on the past, I’m drawn to share one more tribute. Collective experiences of Humanity magnify the effects of what we share as one. Blessings to everyone for Brighter Days and a future held in God’s Hands.

Galactic Tone 7: Reflective. Seven stands as a mirror to divide light and dark and to reflect all that is and is not. Seven is associated with the source of creation and the flow of divine will. With a keen sense of ethics, Seven establishes purpose to current and future goals.
Wind/IK: Breath of Spirit, breath of life. Winds embody the power of dissemination and planting of good seeds or ideas. Dreamers and planners with powerful imaginations, Wind persons make great orators and they spread the word of spiritual inspiration as it is carried by the wind. Wind is the power behind the movement of natural cycles such as weather, erosion, and cultural change. As the wind, these persons are extremely changeable and adaptable. They may appear inconsistent or fickle to others. Wind can be destructive to self and others by putting on airs. When Winds strut and boast, expanding on facts and accomplishments, they are building the dark clouds of trouble that may become hurricanes.

Cherokee, Whirlwind/AGALU’GA: Whirlwind’s symbol is a double spiral helix in rising smoke. Wind brings energy for an Inquiring mind, learning and wisdom. In Cherokee, the constellations are represented by 12 birds (dancers), the 13th bird is the Whirlwind, the lead dancer. This reflects the whirling of life. Wind is the breath of the Universe (matching the Mayan symbol) channel of communication and carries the Sacred Smoke to the Great Spirit
