THIS ERUPTION WILL PROBABLY MISS EARTH: Sunspot AR3691 erupted today (1411 UT), producing an M4.8-class solar flare and hurling a gorgeous plume of hot plasma into space.

X-FLARE AFTER X-FLARE AFTER X-FLARE: Exploding like popcorn, sunspot AR3664 (a.k.a. AR3697) produced three X-flares on May 31st and June 1st. The latest, a long-duration X1-class event, hurled a halo CME almost directly toward Earth.
Parade of Planets
Around June 3, 2024, six planets — Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune — will align in the early morning sky. This large planetary alignment sounds exciting but not all the planets will be equally easy to see.
