Filament Eruptions

ANOTHER CME IS COMING (MAYBE TWO): Yesterday, two magnetic filaments (right) erupted on the sun. Both produced CMEs, one aimed at Earth, the other off-target. A direct hit + a possible glancing blow on Aug. 12th could produce high-latitude auroras mixed with Perseid meteors. 

The NASA Model from the NOAA Dashboard offers the animated view of the eruption and the strike expected on August 12, 2026. Auroras may be added to the best stargazing night of the year.
