SPACEWEATHER: 85% Chance M-Class Solar Flares; 35% Chance X-Class Flares

Potential for Magnetic Reconnection

CHANCE OF FLARES TODAY: NOAA forecasters say there is an 85% chance of M-class solar flares and a 35% chance of X-flares on Nov. 9th. The most likely source is new sunspot AR3889, which has an unstable ‘beta-gamma-delta’ magnetic field. Any flares will be geoeffective as the sunspot is turning to face Earth. 

NOTE: Based on yesterday’s news, Magnetic Reconnection between 3 Sunspots is also possible. AR3889, AR3886, and AR3883 could generate an explosion event if they are magnetically connected to one another.
