The Latest Supernova Discovery: You could discover the next!

Ledakan Supernova SN 2023ixf – Our Newest Discovery in Space

SINDONEWS.COM: 28 MAY 2023

JAKARTA – The large supernova explosion SN 2023ixf was caught by a sophisticated telescope in Rome, Italy. Unfortunately, for the territory of Indonesia, this rare natural phenomenon cannot be witnessed. However, the massive explosion that occurred on Friday, May 26 can be watched online via YouTube. “Supernova SN 2023ixf, is one of the largest and smartest seen in a decade,” wrote Space, quoted Sunday (28/5/2023).

The largest telescopes are capable to record live video, offering astronomers around the world the view online in real time. Since both professional and amateur astronomers can buy time to share the live view from many locations around the world, amateurs are just as capable to be the first to observe new discoveries. It is not uncommon for amateurs who buy time on the observatory telescopes in Arizona to earn the credit as the first discoverers of stars. With professionals and amateurs sharing the same views, the credit is simply a matter of who happens to see it first. (That has to be disheartening for someone who spends all their time looking at the stars. Though, discovery is the Highest intention for sharing the views.) There’s a vast expanse to focus on from a single view.

Supernova SN 2023ixf was found in the M101 pinwheel galaxy, positioned as the “star” on Orion’s shoulder, and the closest Supernova discovered since the 1600’s. The event happened long ago. The Light to see what happened is just coming into focus for astro telescopes who send the images to Earth. So, this is just the beginning of what we will see as time goes by. Supernovas can expand the light of a star thousands of times their original width and brightness.

SPACE.COM, Updated 28 Days AgoThe supernova, designated SN 2023ixf, is one of the largest and brightest seen for a decade. The exploding star was first spotted in an image taken by experienced supernova hunter Koichi Itagaki, from Yamagata, Japan, on Friday, May 19, 2023. This initial observation was followed up by the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) telescopes in California, which confirmed the discovery on Saturday (May 20).

The proximity of SN 2023ixf and the fact that it has been brightening from its initial magnitude has made the supernova a popular target for amateur astronomers with backyard telescopes that can see it as a small speck of light. This new supernova is located in the galaxy Messier 101 (or M101), also known as the Pinwheel Galaxy, home to the asterism known as the Big Dipper, a popular observational target for rookie astronomers.

You can share the view of the event recorded in May 2023 to experience star gazing through an observatory telescope! The possibility still exists to find something else that happened while astronomers were focused on Supernova SN 2023ixf.

Between 4:55 and 4:59 UTC on 2023-05-22, Hubble was looking at SN2023IXF, a Ext Star, with Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS/CCD) for Mr. Erez Zimmerman.

You don’t have to travel Route 66, have a car, or buy gas to see through a big telescope!

Another video on YouTube by The Virtual Telescope Project shares the view along with the features and functionality of using a virtual telescope!
Visit The Virtual Telescope Project website to learn more about buying time for a live telescope view.

Before getting your telescope time, please check both description and conditions of the service

Before you read how to get your telescope time, we want to remind again that we are not running a commercial activity. The Virtual Telescope offers almost all its activities for free, mainly through online, public live sessions. But the system has several costs to cover and to live we welcome your support.

So, by getting personal telescope time you can contribute to the future of the Virtual Telescope.

We can’t learn one thing new, without discovering one thing new about a million other things that are the same or different. It’s good exercise for critical thinking (ie. if this is true, then…). You can learn one thing from every YouTube video, about something equal or opposite that you could do! (The exercise is on my list.)

That’s what CIB is all about, an application of truth you discover that you can apply to everything else. Learning something new beats crying over yesterday, and the past you can’t change.

PS. I never  met a corrupt astronomer, though  I’m sure they exist. Most are focused on the Big Picture.

5 Wisdom/CIB (Cherokee, Owl U’GUKU’) – Day 5 of 13 of the 1 Road/EB Trecena

Descriptions by Ian Xel Lungold, 12 Sun/AHAU,  from MayanMajix.com

Galactic Tone 5: Empowerment. At the center of the cube we find Five. Five is an intelligent, organizing force which manages communications and materials, knowledge and application. Fives are natural net workers who gather what is needed. These persons can probe directly to the core of any situation making them excellent investigators.

Wisdom/CIB: The old ones. Wisdom of the ancients. Wisdom persons are aligned with the ancient memories that wait in the stone of temples and sacred sites all over the world. Wisdom people grow luck like a crop using a balance of prudence and tenacity. The tremendous inner strength of this sign enables silent introspection to discover areas of oneself that contain wisdom more valuable than any trove of archaeological treasure. Wisdom persons are valiant defenders of family and community. They may become hardened to life and sentiment turned cold. In these cases, they need much forgiveness for their uncaring errors. Periodically connecting with nature and or visiting sacred sites will bring great stability to wisdom persons.

CIB IS A GOOD DAY TO: Sit on a rock. Take a Wise step after you think about it. One will lead to another.

Cherokee, Owl U’GUKU’ : Symbol is the Owl is Arcturus, the brightest Star in the Constellation Bootes. The Cherokee Bear constellation (Ursa Major) includes the Big Dipper plus four stars in Bootes.  Owl is a hunter, who stands for the wisdom and ability of all great hunters, the cunning of a fox, the tenacity of a bulldog and strength of a bear. Energy for deep thinkers, strong-willed, rigid convictions, bold and authoritative.  Owl is the Mystic Ferryman who guides Earthlings on the return path to the stars holding the torch aloft.
