AURORAS AND THE ‘DEVIL COMET’: If you want to photograph a beautiful comet, this is the week to do it. For the next 7+ days, “devil comet” 12P/Pons-Brooks will pop out of the twilight after sunset, its magnificent tail pointing up into the night sky. Michal Kaluzny sends this picture from the Solheimajokull glacier lagoon in Iceland.
“Fortunately, the auroras weren’t too strong, allowing for the delicate tail of the comet to be exposed,” says Kaluzny. Also in Iceland, Wioleta Gorecka photographed the comet emerging from a bright green curtain of Northern Lights.
You don’t need to be in Iceland to photograph this comet. It’s visible around the world, shining like a 5th magnitude star in the constellation Aries. Technically, it’s bright enough to see with the naked eye, but in practice you’ll need binoculars or a small telescope to pull it out of the western twilight. Cameras with night sky settings should have no trouble recording the comet’s tail in wide-angle landscape shots. Point your optics here.

SOLAR RADIATION STORM WATCH–CANCELED: Departing sunspot AR3615 erupted on March 30th (2116 UT), producing an M9.4-class solar flare only percentage points below category X. At first it seemed that the explosion would cause a solar radiation storm. AR3615 is magnetically well-connected to Earth via the Parker Spiral. Debris from the blast should have spiraled back to our planet. However, that didn’t happen, so the radiation storm watch is canceled.

1 Flint/ETZNAB (Cherokee, Flint/DAWI’SGALA) – Day 1 of 13 in the 1 Flint/ETZNAB cycle of Truth from Above
Descriptions by Ian Xel Lungold (12 Sun/AHAU), wisdom preserved on MayanMajix.com
Galactic Tone 1: Unity. One is the beginning of all things, the first, the whole and the all in one. One’s are assertive and self-guided and give a good push to whatever project they are associated with. One persons work best when meeting a challenge. Do not expect One-persons to be attentive to details or to put the finishing touches on things.
Flint/ETZNAB: Mirror of reality. As a struck flint, these persons are the divine sparks of intelligence. Flint’s innate abilities are utilized to discriminate emotions from fact. Flint persons stand tireless to protect, defend, or cure others by personal sacrifice. By courageously wielding the sword of truth, falsehoods are cut away. Flints, it was said, can receive information on inter-personal troubles or evil plots of others by reflecting in an obsidian mirror. Their valiant service as warriors of the truth must be impeccable or they will experience sufferings of accidents, misunderstandings and gossip.
A GOOD DAY TO: Spend time in reflection and introspection.
Cherokee, Flint/DAWI’SGALA: Opener of the Way, a creator, innovator, stretches the mind to outside limits of capabilities. Changes the static to the dynamic. Brings about change, often through separation and destruction. Beams the Stellar Ray of Truth to Earth as a crystal sword cast down along the path of a lightning flash. Flint is the transformer that brings things to a head and wipes the slate clean.
