X-CLASS SOLAR FLARE: Emerging sunspot AR3869 erupted this morning (Oct. 24th @ 0357 UTC), producing a slow X3.3-class solar flare. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the hour-long flash:
Extreme ultraviolet radiation from the flare ionized the top of Earth’s atmosphere. This, in turn, caused a shortwave radio blackout over Australia and Southeast Asia. Ham radio operators may have noticed loss of signal at frequencies below 30 MHz for as much as an hour after the flare.
This explosion almost certainly produced a CME. The US Air Force is reporting a Type II solar radio burst, a natural signal that comes from shockwaves at the leading edge of CMEs. Characteristics of the burst suggest a CME traveling 1.3 million mph. Stay tuned for updates.
LARGE SUNSPOTS ARE TURNING TOWARD EARTH: An impressive group of large sunspots is emerging over the sun’s southeastern limb. The group’s detailed magnetic configuration is not yet known. However, we know it’s explosive. A powerful X3.3-class solar flare just exploded from the sunpot group’s magnetic canopy.
A BIG DEVELOPMENT IN SPACE WEATHER FORECASTING: Imagine a giant CME heading straight for Earth, but no one knew it was coming. Space weather forecasters have long worried about such a scenario. Our best early warning system for CMEs is a coronagraph onboard the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO), which was launched in Dec. 1995. How long can such an ancient spacecraft be expected to last?
We can stop worrying. Yesterday, NOAA unveiled its replacement, the CCOR-1 solar coronagraph onboard the new GOES-19 satellite:
Using an occulting disk (the dark blue circle at the center of the video) to block the glare of the sun, CCOR-1 delivers uninterrupted monitoring of CMEs with a new image every 15 minutes. GOES-19 is currently undergoing post-launch testing and checkout of its instruments, including the coronagraph. In spring 2025, NOAA will begin using CCOR-1 for regular CME forecasts.
SOHO, meanwhile, will continue monitoring the sun as it has done for almost 30 years. This incredible spacecraft has discovered more than 5000 sungrazing comets and helped forecasters predict hundreds of strong geomagnetic storms. Long may it live!
Mayan Time
Serpent/CHICCHAN is the Source of the Light of Divine Illumination. CHICCHAN holds the Position 5 of Empowerment in the 20 aspects of the Mayan calendar that define the Omega, Sun/AHAU, the all-in-one and symbol of the Supreme Lord of Creation. CHICCHAN is the Feeling that comes with a Divine Revelation, the Kundalini energy that involuntarily grabs our heart to send chills up our spine, creates goosebumps, and stands hair on end when it reaches the Crown. CHICCHAN represent the Power that moves us to tears, or creates the sense of Fight or Flight. CHICCHAN is the “Feeling of Knowing” the Maya call the Sixth Sense of the Heart that empowers all our Spiritual Gifts.

13 Serpent/Chicchan (Cherokee, Serpent/DO’TSI) – Ascension, Day 13 of the 1 Reed/BEN trecena
Descriptions by Ian Xel Lungold (12 Sun/AHAU), wisdom and Tzolk’in FREE CALCULATOR preserved on MayanMajix.com
Galactic Tone 13: Ascension; Thirteen assists us to go to the next higher step, propels us to try something new or to try again. Thirteen energy takes us over the next mountain just to see what is there. Thirteen carries the last success to the newest effort. Thirteen is a number associated with the Ascended Masters, creation, expansion, and manifestation.
Serpent/CHICCHAN: Movement and the creation of time. Sensual and dramatic, this sun sign embodies intense instinctual wisdom and creates a connection from Earth bound, to Heavenly aspirations. By sincere service to others, Serpent opens and expands its heart. Serpent aligns authority and the truth to bring justice that is quick and sure. Serpents are very adaptable, even fluid until trapped in a corner, and then they explode. Serpents, venomous temper poisons itself as well as others by creating resentful, suppressive and even destructive attitudes.
A GOOD DAY TO: Ask for flexibility and fluidity.
Cherokee, Serpent/DO’TSI: Serpent’s symbol is Constellation Serpens. Serpent people are Sky people who come to earth periodically as Educators. As above-So below, on Earth the Serpent is the roots of the tree of knowledge. Serpent power is vital energy, the moving force, the instinct and desire for creativity, the trigger that sets off the action. It lights the fuse that magnifies and explodes the life force itself. Knowledge, combining science, technology and psychology, plus spirituality are seeded on the planet.
