Signs of Light
SPACEWEATHER.COM NEWS: 01/07/2025
A BRIGHT COMET IS FALLING TOWARD THE SUN: Next week, Comet ATLAS (C/2024 G3) could outshine the planet Venus. It’s falling toward the sun for a 0.09 AU close encounter on Jan. 13th. “If, by some miracle, the comet survives the intense thermal stress, it could become visible to the naked eye for observers in the southern hemisphere,” says Lionel Majzik, who took this picture using a remote-controlled telescope in Chile on Dec. 31st:
“At the time, the comet was only about 6 degrees above the horizon,” he says. “The image clearly shows a fan-like, prominent dust tail.”
Three days after Majzik’s photo, Comet ATLAS experienced an outburst, abruptly brightening by 2 magnitudes. Many astronomers feared it might be breaking apart. However, Nick James of the British Astronomical Association thinks it might be okay.
“The sudden jump in brightness on Jan. 2nd, first reported by Terry Lovejoy, was significant,” says James. “This could have been an early sign of disintegration, but the rise has been sustained and the comet is still brightening. It looks as if this outburst has not been fatal.”
Indeed, James himself photographed the comet apparently intact on Jan 4th:

“This is a dawn photo from Rio Hurtado, Chile,” says James. “The comet was only 16 degrees from the sun.”
Jan 13th is the big day. If current trends hold, the comet could brighten to magnitude -5 as it approaches the sun deep inside the orbit of Mercury. “It might even be visible in the daytime sky, but observing with the sun only 5 degrees away is dangerous and should only be attempted with great care.”
SOHO coronagraphs will pick up the comet starting Jan. 11th. That will give us a preview of what to expect two days later when solar heating is maxed. Until then, read “Prospects for C/2024 G3 (ATLAS)” by Nick James for observing tips–and stay tuned!
CHANCE OF STRONG FLARES: Don’t be surprised if there’s an X-class solar flare today. Active sunspot AR3947 has a ‘beta-gamma-delta’ magnetic field that harbors energy for strong explosions. Indeed, it has already produced three X-flares since Jan. 3rd. NOAA estimates a 25% chance of another one today.

COMPARISON TO 1859 CARRINGTON EVENT

The Carrington Event was a massive solar storm that occurred on September 1–2, 1859 and is considered the largest solar storm ever recorded; occurring during solar cycle 10 (this is solar cycle 25). Auroras were sighted globally and it caused sparking and fires in telegraph stations. Wikipedia
NOTE: Flares were measured under a different rating system in 1859. The Carrington Event is estimated to have been an X45 solar flare.
Mayan Time and Gregorian Time Today vs 1859
January 7, 2025, 10 Sun/AHAU is a Manifestation of Light from the Source and Substance of Divine Inspiration. September 2, 1959 was 3 Star/LAMAT, movement of the 2nd brightest Star (Venus), the symbol of the Scion. Following are the headlines of 1859, a time of Major Chaos and Change, especially following the event. They reflect a major division of issues between commerce and humanity. Comets are Signs related to Jaguar/IX, the symbol of the Holy Spirit. IX holds Position 14, 7+7, reflected in the 7th Day of January and the completion of the 7th uinal of the Tzolk’in. (The active sunspot 3947 repeats the number 7.)

THE PRESIDENT OF THE DAY, AND AFTER:
James Buchanan, the 15th President of the United States (1857-1861), served immediately prior to the American Civil War. (The divide was fueled by a Supreme Court decision of an opposite nature. He was the only confirmed bachelor president, born of a wealthy family of influence. His history also notes association with Russia. He was followed by Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president. It was the same fight and the same division of human rights, animal rights, and conflicts between Science and Religion.
TRECENA OF MONKEY/CHUEN: DAWN OF A BEAUTIFUL CREATION
MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
10 Sun/AHAU, Cherokee, Flower/GUN’TSI EK, Destiny Kin 140, Position 20
January 7, 2025, 01/07/2025; Last Round: April 22, 2024, 04/22/2024
Cherokee, Flower/GUN’TSI EK: Symbol is the Sun, place of abode of Great Spirit. The Sun creates, nurtures, and is the super communicator, the way station that relays messages and energy from other stars in the galaxy; provides energy for channeling information from the Ancestors; speaking the Living Language of Light, which ignites the consciousness in others. Gold is the color of courage and opportunity of wealth. Creative arts, master craftsman expressing divinity and wisdom through their creations. The face of the flower follows the Sun gathering the fire of creativity, illuminating harmony and balance, resonating peace and continuity within the human spirit. This is the Sign of the Chalice of the Infinite, Caldron of Creation.
TRECENA OF MONKEY/CHUEN: THE DAWN OF OUR CREATION
My gift for the Tzolk’in round is the “Tzolk’in Field Guide: A Daily Practice for Personal Discernment.” Volume 1 covers the first two seasons of the Tzolk’in round. The “Field Guide” is available to download from a link on the 13-day Trecena Guide Page.
Tracking your thoughts during one 13-day trecena, you will see the synchronicity of Time, and an ascension as the answer to a prayer you hold as an Intention of thought from the beginning.
The Monkey/CHUEN trecena is the beginning of Season 3, found in Volume 2.
NOTE: If you see repeating numbers, SacredScribes is a resource to check the meaning of Angel Numbers.
CORE DAYS: The 7th Uinal of the Tzolk’in represent the center column of 20-days, which carry the Intention of Balancing. In the Center we are returned to Unity with the whole as our sense of duality comes into balance. The Maya believed this to be the axis mundi – the center of the world that connects Heaven and Earth, where the four directions meet; where communication from lower realms may ascend to higher ones and blessings from higher realms may descend to lower ones and be disseminated to all. The Core Days may be experienced as a time of personal mystery as we recreate ourselves in the image of the Highest One.
10 Sun/AHAU (Cherokee, Flower/GUN’TSI EK) – Day 10 of 13 of the 1 Monkey/CHUEN trecena
Descriptions by Ian Xel Lungold (12 Sun/AHAU), wisdom preserved on MayanMajix.com
Galactic Tone 10: Manifestation. What were once intentions or ideas, hopes or fears become physically present with the energy of Ten. What is focused upon with attention and intention becomes real with Ten. Ten is a powerful energy that carries a great responsibility.
Sun/AHAU: Day of the ancestors and connection to their guidance. The divine face of the sun – lord, musician, singer, dancer, and marksman. Suns are artistic, heroic athletes, visionaries with wise judgment who lead and defend the people. So much is expected from themselves and by other people that unfulfilled expectations are a certainty. An accumulation of these disappointments may lead Sun to evade responsibilities, not accept corrections and even build resentment and disdain towards others. Suns should simplify their lives to be able to rise and shine with unconditional love once again.
A GOOD DAY TO: Ask for wisdom and the continued honored memory of our ancestors.
