NEW MOON: Aug 23, 2025, a Black Moon begins the Cycle of the Full Corn Moon

The Full Corn Moon is a Blood Moon, a Supermoon, and Total Lunar Eclipse

Don’t be surprised if you see the September 7, 2025 Full Moon noted as the Harvest Moon. The Harvest Full Moon is determined by the Full Moon that is closest to the Fall Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere. The equinox marks the exact moment when the Center of the Sun crosses the plane of Earth’s equator. In 2025 the equinox occurs on September 22, at 19:19 (7:19PM) UTC, 14:19 (2:19PM) CDT (Mayan Time).

In 2025 the September 7-8 Full Moon and the October 6-7 Full Moon are near equal in their proximity to the equinox. (See the Astronomy Page for the illustration, along with complete details of the Total Lunar Eclipse.)

It’s clearly a Full Corn Moon in most time zones, but could be counted as a Harvest Moon in places where it appears on September 8, 2025. Either answer could be wrong or right. I don’t know how often this happens, but all Heavenly Signs mean something. The Full Corn Moon holds Intentions related to the whole field of Corn being brought to Harvest. Right or wrong, God provides for a Harvest in Harmony and Equity for the whole.

4 Star/LAMAT represents the Stability of the Unconditional Love of the Sion, symbolized by Venus now appearing as the Morning Star… trailing behind the Sun at such a great distance that it appears before the Sunrise.

Before the appearance of the New Moon, the planets will be on parade. They could all be seen at once yesterday.

They remain together today, though they won’t all be seen at once. The parade can be a Sign of a Collective Witness of the Light at the same time. Today’s New Moon begins a cycle of a Full Moon we may not all see the same.

THE NEW MOON

The New Moon rises on August 23, 2025, 6:06AM UTC (1:06AM CDT).

A “Black Moon” is a New Moon that is not officially defined, but is understood as either the second New Moon in a calendar month or the third New Moon in a season with four New Moons. Unlike the full moon, a Black Moon is invisible because the sunlit side of the moon faces away from Earth. This creates a darker night sky, offering ideal conditions for stargazing. (Source: NPR, The Black Moon)

As a “sight unseen” the Black Moon concedes its Light to the other stars in the sky. It will create the perfect darksky conditions to see an aurora or any other unexpected astronomical events… like the long-awaited nova of star T CrB in Corona Borealis, the Northern Crown.  The Serpent/CHICCHAN trecena marks a Time of Divine Illumination delivered by the Feathered Serpent as the Light that descends the stairs of the Calendar Pyramid of Chichen Itza. All things happen in God’s divine order for Time.

A black moon (New Moon) symbolizes spiritual renewal, shadow work, intuition, and release, representing a powerful, dark, or void energy ideal for self-reflection, setting intentions, and manifestation. While it is a rare astronomical event without visible light, its spiritual significance lies in its invitation to connect with deeper, unseen energies and to release what no longer serves you. Pagan traditions consider it a potent time for rituals, spiritual practices, and harnessing the amplified energy for change and transformation. By God’s tradition, it’s ALWAYS Time for that. Serpent/CHICCHAN is a cycle of Time that reveals the Power of the Light Within.

The new moon on August 23, 2025, is in the sign of Virgo. A New York Post article calls it “Our Best Shot to start over”  by the precision of a brand New Moon at 0°23 Virgo. Virgo is the sign of the sacred power of potential, and 0 is the degree from which all things are possible, pure future, no past, making this one of the most potent new moons of the year. Virgo is synonymous with ritual purification, and the energy of this new moon is preparatory; it’s sweeping the temple floor, anointing the body, ironing the robes, and dipping the candles.

Virgo is known for focusing on practical details, self-care, and setting realistic, and intentional goals.

THE FULL MOON

The blood moon is created by the Full Moon and Total Lunar Eclipse on September 7. It’s also a Supermoon that will appear larger as the Moon in perigee is in its closest position to Earth. A blood moon is the dramatic red glow of the moon during a total lunar eclipse.

It happens when Earth’s shadow completely covers the full moon, filtering sunlight through our atmosphere and turning the lunar surface deep red or coppery brown. Because the moon’s orbit is slightly tilted, most full moons don’t line up perfectly. But when they do, the result is a striking blood moon eclipse, a phenomenon that has fascinated skywatchers for centuries. (Soure: Space.com, What is a Blood Moon?)

In the Bible, a blood moon symbolizes divine judgment and a powerful sign that the Day of the Lord is drawing near, as described in the prophecies of Joel, Acts, and Revelation. It is interpreted as a cosmic sign of a future time of God’s justice, signaling a significant spiritual and prophetic event leading to the establishment of His kingdom. (Google)

Joel 2:30-31 NIV
30 I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
31 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

Revelation 6:12-14 NIV – The Opening of the Sixth Seal
12 I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, 13 and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. 14 The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.

It will take more than one Sign for us to believe the Day of the Lord is near. We’ve seen black moons and blood moons before. We might think twice if we saw several MORE signs at once.

If September 7 is a Sign of the Day of the Lord, practical Virgo would guide us to use this New Moon and the  next 15 days to the Full Moon to prepare for it. It’s up to us to look for the Signs. Either way, it’s a good time to “clean up our act” and stand like the Deer in the Integrity of the Truth.

The Bible tells us to “not make a show of it.” It’s a private matter we carry out before the Lord. We’re only ordered to share the Truth that “The Day of the Lord is near – and we never know the Time. No matter what happens, or whatever we’ve done, the Lord answer our prayer for salvation, and everything will be okay.”

September 7 is 6 Night/AKBAL. Night/AKBAL represents the Bringers of the Dawn. Dreamers who bring the New Sun to clarify and illuminate the Road of Life. Doubts born of darkness are dispelled by a light beyond the veil.

Corn Moon: Full Moon in September 2025

(Source: Old Farmer’s Almanac)

The Full Moon will be below the horizon when it peaks on September 7, so be sure to watch for it after sunset.

This time of year—late summer into early fall—corresponds with the time of harvesting corn in much of the northern United States. For this reason, a number of Native American peoples traditionally used some variation of the name “Corn Moon” to refer to the Moon of either August or September.

Examples include Corn Maker Moon (Western Abenaki) and Corn Harvest Moon (Dakota). Other Moon names for this month highlight how September is the transitional period between summer and fall:

  • Autumn Moon (Cree)
  • Falling Leaves Moon (Ojibwe)
  • Leaves Turning Moon (Anishinaabe)
  • Moon of Brown Leaves (Lakota)
  • Yellow Leaf Moon (Assiniboine)

The behavior of animals is also a common theme, with Child Moon (Tlingit) referring to the time when young animals are weaned, and Mating Moon and Rutting Moon (both Cree) describing the time of year when certain animals, like moose, elk, and deer, are looking to mate.

The equinox traditionally marks the time when the leaves turn. We could watch to see if the leaves turn early this year before the equinox on September 22.

FULL MOON LUNAR ECLIPSE IN PISCES

Eclipses mark the end of a cycle, a lesson learned that’s over and done. Pisces is a Water Sign that represents our Faith in Spirit.

September 7, 2025, is a powerful time for a Lunar Eclipse in Pisces, marking the start of eclipse season (at the beginning of the aurora season). Pisces supports themes of release and healing, and brings clarity into focus.

Pisces:
Surrender to what is.

Let go of what was.
Have faith in what will be.

When you were born, you were born exactly when you were supposed to be. At the right time in history, in the right culture, everything. All to express your true self, and, more importantly, to further your soul’s course. You were born at the divinely appointed time.

THE TRECENA OF SERPENT/CHICCHAN: AWAKENING THE GIFTS OF SPIRIT

The “Tzolk’in Field Guide” is my gift to download that includes the Count of Days with the aspects for each Destiny Kin and highlights for a personal practice with each trecena. It’s designed as a companion for daily practice.

It only takes 13 days to see how Faith is always raised to Knowing the Truth of Answered Prayers. You only have to track your thoughts. Record the matters on your mind in a journal to see how your perspective is changed by a Divine Order of Thoughts.

Visit the 13-Day Trecena Guide. to download a free copy. Volume 1 covers the first two seasons of the Tzolk’in, and Volume 2 covers the 3rd and 4th to the end of the Tzolk’in round.

Serpent/CHICCHAN is the 3nd trecena of the 2nd season of the Tzolk’in round, found in Volume 1. There’s something more to see when you discern the meaning of Time for yourself. The meaning of time is revealed by the thoughts on your mind.

NOTE: Tone 1 reflects the 1st Light of Divine Inspiration as the “legend” of this chapter of Time. If you forget where you are, return to Tone 1 to see the “First Light” of Divine Inspiration. You can use the Tzolk’in calculator to gain insight on any date in the future or the past.

3 Deer/MANIK (Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi) – Day 3 of 13 in the trecena of 1 Serpent CHICCHAN

Galactic Tone 3: Action. Three is basic movement and communication, which begins as a vibration. Three energy is very eloquent in all types of self-expression. Communication is how Three establishes a point of agreement between any point “A” and any point “B”. Three persons are rhythmic to the core and are often restless, as motion is their nature. By working closely with the energy of Three, any person becomes more able to predict motions of all kinds.

Deer/MANIK (Hand): Deer are spirit tools. Silence itself is a spiritual experience for Deer. For Deer life is a pilgrimage. Deer are dominant persons who defend the people and will make sacrifices for others. The spirit of Deer upholds the pillars of the four directions. With the power inherent in the number four, Deer pushes away bad influences or negative energies. Skill and quality of work are very important to Deer. They are presented with tools for every task in life and it is with these that they are able to rise above limitations. Deer has a habit of keeping every tool it has ever used. This leads to clutter and indecision, loss and procrastination. When confronted with promises not kept, Deer becomes stubborn, manipulative and evasive.

A GOOD DAY TO: Be of Service to Others.

Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi: Symbolized by Constellation Galagina, the Stag, known as Taurus, the Bull. It does not include the Pleiades and Hyades clusters which in Cherokee are viewed as separate. To feed, gatherers of food and supplies, they enjoy rituals, ceremonials, feasts, the souls of hospitality, sociability. Freedom versus security issues often inspire leadership and unique solutions.  Combined with artistic and inspiring energies in harmony with lunar cycles, they nourish the clans. Totem-Deer:  A priest or shaman, a powerful person in general, to overwhelm an individual with one’s personal power, divination; inclined to become a teacher, healer, guru, civic leader, or politician.  Ability to create harmonic resonance.

[Text in italics was the primary source of inspiration for my journal. These are the sources that started my journey and they are the reference for interpretation each day. By providing the original text, I hope to offer a way to see what inspired my thoughts and by including all the aspects – allow for something more to inspire you. Mayan descriptions are those written by Ian Lungold. Cherokee descriptions came from multiple sources.
