Galileo’s Illusion: Light Shines Brighter in Darkness

SPACEWEATHER.COM NEWS: 07/12/2026

GALILEO’S OPTICAL ILLUSION: Last month, sky watchers around the world observed a magnificent conjunction between Venus and Jupiter in the evening sky. Little did they know, it was part illusion: Galileo’s Illusion. Paolo Palma of Roma, Italy, photographed the effect:

“The conjunction on June 11th was visible to the naked eye, but only those who observed them through a telescope would have noticed a most peculiar detail,” says Palma. “Whilst to the naked eye Venus appeared many times LARGER than Jupiter, through a telescope its apparent diameter turned out to be significantly SMALLER than that of the gas giant!”

“So who is lying: the telescope or our eyes?” he asks.

The liar turns out to be the human eye, as Galileo discovered 400 years ago: “I have often seen Jupiter and Venus together […] and Venus appeared to be as much as eight or even ten times larger than Jupiter when viewed with the naked eye; but when observed through the telescope, Jupiter’s disc was actually four or more times larger than that of Venus.”

Galileo himself figured out why: Bright objects against a dark background sprout luminous halos in the human eye, making them appear bigger than they really are. Venus was much brighter than Jupiter, so its false halo was much larger. This is why it is sometimes called the “Irradiation Illusion.”

Irradiation Illusion: Wikipedia

Example of the Irradiation Illusion

The irradiation illusion is an illusion of visual perception in which a light area of the visual field looks larger than an otherwise identical dark area. It was named by Hermann von Helmholtz around 1867;[1] but the illusion was familiar to scientists long before then; Galileo mentions it in his 1632 book Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems.[2] It arises partly from scattering of light inside the eye. This has the effect of enlarging the image of a light area on the retina.

GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH (G1): NOAA forecasters say that minor G1-class geomagnetic storms are possible on July 12th when a CME might graze Earth’s magnetic field. NASA models suggest a more direct hit, but G1 is probably still the correct forecast for this lightweight CME.

Mayan Calendar Time and Synchronicity

The New Moon, July 14, 2026, will offer the Darkest Nights to see the Stars. The New Moon begins the Lunar Phase of the Full Thunder Moon, the month known as the peak time for Lightning and Thunder.

Monkey/CHUEN in Position 11 is the Master Number that symbolizes the Source and Substance of the Light of Divine Inspiration. An Illumination of Divine Wisdom is the Light of the Word fulfilled, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Tone 2 raises the Question, “to be or not to be”. By all the Signs offered from Above, the Light of the Father and the Son, dispels the Darkness of our doubts and fears of the Unknown Future – a choice on a scale of death and eternal life.

Our eyes are opened to the Truth of unlimited possibilities by the Hand of God who completes every Dream that is inspired by the Light of the Supreme Lord of Creation. We’re guided to the Truth of the Light of the Holy Spirit that dwells within.

We are guided to set our Intentions from “the beginning” to Dwell in the Light, so that in God’s Time, Faith will be turned to Believing that “we and the Father are One”.

John 14:20 NIV
20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.

The Word is fulfilled when we apply the Power to the end of God’s Will to bless the lives of the whole.

2 Monkey Chuen (Cherokee, Raccoon/KVH’LI ) – Day 2 of 13 of the 1 Dog/OC trecena

Descriptions by Ian Xel Lungold (12 Sun/AHAU), wisdom and FREE Tzolk’in Calculator preserved on MayanMajix.com

Galactic Tone 2: Duality; Mysterious as the question “to be or not to be?” Two is the recognition of the separation of self from all else and the desire to be rejoined. Walking a balance while making choices of all kinds, light/dark, male/female, good/bad, Yin/Yang, is the energy of this number. Experiencing the differences between one and another is the use and purpose of this number.

Monkey/CHUEN: Monkey is known to the May as the Weaver or Weaver of Time. Monkey takes ideas as threads of vines and weaves them into the fabric of our reality. New patterns or inventions are also woven into our lives by Monkey. Amiable, intelligent, generous and jack of all trades, Monkey’s innocent curiosity leads to artistic expression and constructive solutions. It is also considered to be one of the most fortunate and lucky day signs.

A GOOD DAY TO: Begin anything new in your life.

Cherokee, Raccoon/KVH’LI: The Racoon Symbol is Algol, a star in Perseus. Restless energy yearning for long-lost love. Algol was named DEMON STAR or MISCHIEVOUS ONE by the Ancients because it winks and fades at times. Raccoons are full of friendly mischief, eager to swap kisses for candy. Magnetic leaders, full of humor and gaiety. Favorite food is corn, the mainstay of the Cherokee. Very artistic while being the “masked bandit” who steals your heart.

[Text in italics was the primary source of inspiration for my journal. These are the sources that started my journey and they are the reference for interpretation each day. By providing the original text, I hope to offer a way to see what inspired my thoughts and by including all the aspects – allow for something more to inspire you. Mayan descriptions are those written by Ian Lungold. Cherokee descriptions came from multiple sources.
