MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” – Lao Tzu
Greetings Kin,
On Galactic Tone 13 we arrive at a new vista. From the new perspective of our ascension Serpent/CHICCHAN ignites us by revealing the success of our latest efforts.
In the day-to-day our changes may seem like minor adjustments, though the consistency of our incremental movements forward has far more impact on the road to our destiny than any occasional monumental effort.
Like watching children grow, the closer one is to the action the more difficult it is to see the changes as they are happening. We place significance on our milestones because they reveal the evidence of transformation. 13 Serpent/CHICCHAN marks such a milestone.
THE TRECENA OF REED/BEN – DIVINE CORRESPONDENCE
13 Serpent/Chicchan (Cherokee, Serpent/DO’TSI)
Galactic Tone 13: Ascension; Thirteen assists us to go to the next higher step, propels us to try something new or to try again. Thirteen energy takes us over the next mountain just to see what is there. Thirteen carries the last success to the newest effort. Thirteen is a number associated with the Ascended Masters, creation, expansion, and manifestation.
Serpent/CHICCHAN: Movement and the creation of time. Sensual and dramatic, this sun sign embodies intense instinctual wisdom and creates a connection from Earth bound, to Heavenly aspirations. By sincere service to others, Serpent opens and expands its heart. Serpent aligns authority and the truth to bring justice that is quick and sure. Serpents are very adaptable, even fluid until trapped in a corner, and then they explode. Serpents, venomous temper poisons itself as well as others by creating resentful, suppressive and even destructive attitudes.
Cherokee, Serpent/DO’TSI: Serpent’s symbol is Constellation Serpens. Serpent people are Sky people who come to earth periodically as Educators. As above-So below, on Earth the Serpent is the roots of the tree of knowledge. Serpent power is vital energy, the moving force, the instinct and desire for creativity, the trigger that sets off the action. It lights the fuse that magnifies and explodes the life force itself. Knowledge, combining science, technology and psychology, plus spirituality are seeded on the planet.
DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
Divine Correspondence – a God sighting journey
13 Serpent/CHICCHAN (Kin 65) is a milestone that marks the end of the first “season” of the Tzolk’in round. There are 4 seasons of 65 days (one for each direction), guarded by the 4 Day Signs of Serpent/Chicchan (Igniting), Dog/Oc (Loving), Eagle/Men (Corresponding), and Sun/Ahau (Actualizing). Tone 13 of each of these Day Signs marks the end of a season. 13 Chicchan guards a season of birth, regeneration, and the awakening of our sixth sense, which the Maya refer to as “lightening in the blood.”
The next season, guarded by Dog/OC, expands our capacity for Unconditional Love. We are preparing to embark on the season’s first trecena of Transformer/CIMI… a 13-day cycle that highlights major transformation through a new application of effort.
Today is a day to celebrate our accomplishments. Looking at my own progress, it wasn’t that long ago (February) that I was getting up at 3AM to write this post, based on an arbitrary rule that it had to be written after midnight. Just learning to pay attention to my thoughts brought a major improvement to my ability to follow my dream.
Looking back for evidence of your own transformation produces the spark that ignites your next effort. Fluid, flexible, and quick is the energy of Serpent/Chicchan that stokes the energy of our own creative life force. Serpent is known for delivering a revelation accompanied by a physical sensation in the body – a knowing, sixth sense, and lightening in the blood.
To all my relations, may we be ignited by the our own realization of becoming. May our eyes be opened to see that we are our own closest evidence of our correspondence with God. As we enter the season for Unconditional Love, may we reach beyond the limit of our own fear to Love Every Thing Unconditionally.

Hello! I just wanted to swing by and let you know you were nominated for the Liebster Award on my blog!
That’s so kind of you! I’m sorry I can’t participate, but I’ll return the favor and feature you on one of my doggy days soon. Again, thank you for thinking of me. 🙂
Oh it’s ok! You’re welcome!
Hello from a 8 Serpent! 🙂 Your blog is amazing! But I’m so disappointed not finding my combination 🙁 Pls pls pls can you also write 8 Serpent?
Hi 8 Serpent! Of COURSE I’ll write for you, only you’ll have to hang around until Kin 125… only 55 more days! 🙂 Thanks for the kind words! Hope you’ll stick around.
Pls pls pls 🙂 How you describe things are amazing and very much to the point!
You make me smile. 🙂
😀 Thanks a lot for the good news! 😉 Looking forward to read it.. 🙂
Thank you Duru! You have an interesting Kin that lands in the core days of the calendar (center column on the Tzolk’in), a time of spiritual transformation that brings intuition. 8 Chicchan is celebrated by the Maya as one of the Holy Days honoring spiritual strength. 🙂 in lak’ech, Debra
Wow Debra! So interesting.. It seems to be matching my western astrology north node placement as well! And it’s beautiful to know that it’s one of the Holy Days! Thank you sooo much offering these valuable info. Can’t wait to hear more and more..! 😉

This is an awesome calendar resource with approval by Don Alejandro Cirilo Perez Oxlaj, that has all the holy days, plus day sign descriptions – Spanish and Kichee names, so Serpent/Chicchan is listed under Kaan. I used Google translate – I’m still learning the Kichee names.
Wow again and again dear Debra! 🙂 I got it half and the rest will be the help of my mom. Interesting source..Thanks! <3
YAY!
Dear Debra hi again 🙂 What do you think about the difference between “Dreamspell Calender” and Tzolkin? I’m asking in order to have an understanding about whether I’m a “8 Serpent” (according to Tzolkin) or a 10 Storm/Cauac (according to Dreamspell)? Or maybe both are true in terms of our soul prints and everyone can consider two of the different signs being true for themselves? Here’s the link about the “Dreamspell” one: http://www.starroot.com/cgi/daycalc.pl
Hi Duru – There’s some controversy around it not coordinating with the real mayan calendar. You can see what Don Alejandro (mayan spiritual leader) has to say about it here http://mayanmajix.com/art_mc.html#4 I followed it myself for a while, before knowing any of the back story, but ended up wanting to come back to this calendar anyway. It’s a calendar and many people who followed Arguelles still follow it. Thanks for the question. in lak’ech
The alejandro link didn’t work for me, but here’s a similar article from Carl Caleman, a recognized Mayan scholar.

Thanks a lot! 🙂
I’ve been thinking about you because my mind has so been on Chicchan. What I see of that energy in you is the spirit you exude. I know another 8 chicchan who is an artist and his stuff jumps off the page – some indescribable something. I could imagine that is something you might project through your art/theatre.
Oh that’s so sweet of you 🙂 Thanks for kind consideration.. Interesting cause I’m an artist as well. I did theatre first and now on the screen side of acting and I sing and write poetry -supposedly well, as they claim 😀 – What kind of art your other 8 chicchan is doing I wonder?
Art is like bring Spirit to light. The art is photography that carries across an an uncanny feeling of being there. So whatever the art, somehow Chicchan has a way to bring Spirit through it that touches other. And Chicchan is also this energy in the body – so, holds that power of physical response to it, like goosebumps, hair raising, etc. Able to touch someone through Spirit. 🙂
Beautifully said. And yes I can understand that looking especially at the reactions that people have after reading my poems 🙂 I hope I grew more and more in the positive direction in terms of touching the souls by spirit.
