MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
On Tone 4 of Stability, Transformer/CIMI helps us establish our sense of balance through change. 4 brings the dimension of the cube, the most stable of all forms. The glyph symbolizing Death reminds us that something dies when something new is born. CIMI is a leader of change that helps us maintain a balance one step at a time.
Our Dreams hold the power of change. Tone 4 of the Night/AKBAL trecena is about seeking Divine Inspiration that motivates change. We all likely have many behaviors we might wish to change. We don’t have to look at ourselves and decide what to tackle first. As Spirit leads us to the Passion of our Dream, the changes needed will become the preferred way of doing things.
I wasn’t happy with the amount of TV I was watching before I started this journal. I live alone and came to associate its noise as a companion. I turned on this noise as I prepared for work in the morning and left it running in the background. Though I noticed the frustration it caused, I couldn’t seem to turn it off… whether I watched the news, a TV preacher asking for donations by credit card, or upbeat chatter about the thing Everyone must buy next. No wonder my life felt hopeless, when part of every day was watching the most horrible things people do to one another.
When I started the journal, change happened effortlessly overnight. I suddenly had something more important to do. First, I didn’t have the time to turn the TV on. Now, writing is the thing I prefer doing. Burning candles, sage and sweetgrass has become the comforting companion. Change becomes a natural part of our transformation when we have a Dream. Our Dream will lead the process of change. We don’t have to change before seeking our Dream.
CIMI signals that major life change is already in progress. Our fear of change can be transformed when we learn to recognize chaos as an in-between place of transformation. Learning to walk is a process of getting comfortable with change. Every movement forward includes the place of imbalance between steps. The major work of learning to walk is gaining the courage to fall forward. Watching my grandson, I see him stabilize his balance for a moment as he prepares to enter the imbalance of the next step. As he overcame the fear of imbalance, he began walking as falling forward became automatic. We walk wherever we are drawn to go.
In order to evolve into the Highest Expression of our Being, we must embrace a flow of balance and imbalance. Instead of praying for change, we pray for the Dream that inspires the change. CIMI can help by “drawing” us to change instead of “pushing” us to change. And, AKBAL offers comfort as our “Light in the Darkness” of change.
To all my relations, may we not cast aside Dreaming our Dream based on a fear of the change we can see would be necessary, but remember that when we find the thing we truly Love, the Dream will lead the change. Something dies when something new is born.

THE TRECENA OF NIGHT/AKBAL
4 Transformer/CIMI (Cherokee, TAKATO’KA)
Galactic Tone 4: Stability. Four is the cube the most stable of all forms, and the establishment of volume by definition. The four directions give orientation to any form as the height, length, depth and breadth give shape to any form. The energy of Four sets the parameters, which establish the freedoms and barriers needed to create a game, work, or relationship.
Transformer/CIMI: Cycle of life, death, and rebirth. Transformer persons achieve goals and emotional wealth. Transformer people can become highly respected business persons. They have the ability to help others through any and all transitions with tranquility due to their spiritual strength and guidance. Communities often benefit from Transformers discipline and organization skills. They strengthen the life of pregnant women and guide them through the transitions of maternity. Establishing contact with the ancestors activates innate psychic abilities, gifts to be used as tools to assist others. Transformers can have the ability to send evil intentions telepathically, this is their undoing. From these acts they lose power, easily fall into a victim role and begin to manipulate with a vengeance. A good day to tie all loose ends.
Cherokee, Twins/ TAKATO’KA: Twins symbolize the Female Sun and Male Moon, whose union keeps the world going round. Cherokee myth has the Morning Star heralding the Sun, Venus, also being the Evening Star as representing the TWINS. The energy brings major changes all throughout life, riding the tsunamis of earthquake and upheaval, making their own waves wherever they go. They undergo powerful transformations, alternating like a flashing neon sign. The challenge is to master Balance while experiencing Chaos leading to re-birth and abundance through infinity.
NEW DAY KEEPERS: My sacred intention for the new Tzolk’in round is to offer more personal support to those who may want to learn more about ways to draw personal meaning from the calendar. I will be offering an Introductory Guided Course for Day Keepers in the near future. Contact me if this is something you would be interested in! Also, if you’d just like help identifying your Day Sign, I’m more than happy to help. Blessings, in lak’ech Debra (firstname.lastname@example.org)
