MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
As we move into Peak Energy of the Sun/AHAU trecena Tone 6 helps us to establish the rhythm and pace for our climb. 6 compares our movement in the material world to the art of dance or to a great athlete in motion. “Six facilitates dynamic developments in all aspects of life.”
The Serpent, or snake, is one of the oldest and widespread symbols of fertility and the Creative Life Force held within Every Thing. The Snake’s Power of Rebirth, Transformation, and Renewal of Life are seen in its ability to shed its old skin. 5 Seed/KAN helped release us from our karmic debt, and now Serpent/CHICCHAN prepares us for Dynamic Growth by offering a new freedom of movement.
The Snake makes its Way in the World by relying on its Sense of Vibration. Snake’s ability to detect the vibrations of movement connected to the Earth serves as the catalyst for its own swift and decisive action.
CHICCHAN draws our awareness to the Vibration of our own Life Force. Known as the Day Sign that brings “lightning in the blood,” CHICCHAN serves as a catalyst to ignite our “Sixth Sense” of Inner Knowing.
For many, the Gift of Intuition may be most commonly remembered as a time they sensed unseen danger or perceived the energy of interaction when they first walked into a room. CHICCHAN triggers our Instincts to become the bearings for our Direction, Timing, and Movement.
The Highest Day Sign of the Tzolk’in, Sun/AHAU, is guiding us toward an Ascension on the Road to our Destiny (13 Road/EB). Our path from Point A to Point B can be made straight by following our Inner Guidance.
Today offers the potential of a psychic experience of Intuition, Telepathy, or a Sense of Inner Knowing. A Universe Within holds the Ether and Consciousness of Spirit. This is a day to pay attention to our Physical Senses. The Power of these Forces is Magnified as we learn to pay attention.
Though at some time we have all experienced our Sixth Sense, its existence can remain hidden by our lack of acknowledgement. We may have passed off such experiences as coincidental, or otherwise failed to recognize the Truth of their Existence and Merit. ALL our Spiritual Gifts lie dormant in this same way… waiting to be brought into Service.
We hold the Power to Command our Inner Resources. The first movement of this trecena, 3 Wind/IK, raised our Awareness to the Power of Sacred Breath and our ability to “call into being.” The Cherokee describe Serpent’s power as vital energy, the moving force, the instinct and desire for creativity, and the trigger that sets off the action. The recognition and acknowledgement of our Intuitive Senses is the catalyst for them to Grow.
How can we Raise our Our Own Consciousness to this Evidence of Spirit? I remember when my first teacher on the Medicine Path, Joseph Rael “Beautiful Painted Arrow,” was asked how he became capable of such tangible shamanic experiences. His simple answer was, “I just obey.”
To all my relations, may we look for the Signs and Wonders in our Life. May we acknowledge and respond to our Inner Callings – even when we are guided in the smallest ways. CHICCHAN is the catalyst that turns the Light On. May we acknowledge the Truth of what we See. And, as we walk with the Highest Day Sign of the Tzolk’in, Sun/AHAU, may we follow as Spiritual Warriors, armed by Love and ready to take action in Divine Service.

6 Serpent/CHICCHAN (Cherokee, Serpent Do’tsi)
Galactic Tone 6: Six is responsiveness and the art of negotiation. It is the movement of volume through space that creates time. This energy in action is like the art of dance or a great athlete in motion. Six facilitates dynamic developments in all aspects of life.
Serpent/CHICCHAN: Movement and the creation of time. Sensual and dramatic, this sun sign embodies intense instinctual wisdom and creates a connection from Earth bound, to Heavenly aspirations. By sincere service to others, Serpent opens and expands its heart. Serpent aligns authority and the truth to bring justice that is quick and sure. Serpents are very adaptable, even fluid until trapped in a corner, and then they explode. Serpents, venomous temper poisons itself as well as others by creating resentful, suppressive and even destructive attitudes.
Cherokee, Serpent/DO’TSI: Serpent’s symbol is Constellation Serpens. Serpent people are Sky people who come to earth periodically as Educators. As above-So below, on Earth the Serpent is the roots of the tree of knowledge. Serpent power is vital energy, the moving force, the instinct and desire for creativity, the trigger that sets off the action. It lights the fuse that magnifies and explodes the life force itself. Knowledge, combining science, technology and psychology, plus spirituality are seeded on the planet.
