MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
Offering the Wisdom of Forgiveness, CIB released us from the negative emotions that prevent us from seeing beyond ourselves. Tone 5 introduces an Intelligent and Organizing Force that helps us manage a New Way forward by the ability to gather what is needed.
This is a day when we receive an energy of momentum to fuel our upward climb. Earth/CABAN draws our awareness to the gift of the Natural World that blesses us with everything we need to live our lives in a good way.
Earth/CABAN empowers us to move forward from a vision of where we are at this moment and what may lie ahead. We are offered the Power of a Direction that calls us forward from within.
Earth/CABAN is the Day Sign of perpetual motion. Together, we exist within a Sacred Flow of Movement in Divine Correspondence with all of Creation. Under the trecena of Reed/BEN, we are guided to see that even the smallest creatures would long for us to know we are all brothers and sisters of One Family.
The Cherokee Day Sign the Heron is symbolic as a creature of perpetual movement and regeneration. Compared to the immortal Phoenix who rises from its own ashes, the Heron represents our Oneness in the perpetual process of rebirth and regeneration.
The correspondent Aztec Day Sign, Ollin, translates simply as “movement.” The Ollin is the symbol seen in the center of the Aztec Calendar and reflects 20 unique movements of the passage of time on the calendar. The Aztecs define days led by Ollin as auspicious for the “active principle” and unlucky for the “passive principle.” Our well-being and happiness depend on our forever pressing on. Each moment we are alive is worthy of a Celebration, for with each new day we’re offered an opportunity to become something new. Who we may become depends not on who we were before.
Given a new Sense of Purpose, we can move beyond the Fear that keeps us stuck where we are. We can discover a calling important enough to overcome the illusion of the safety or comfort of just standing by.
Earth/CABAN empowers us through a motivation. We are called to look outside of ourselves to the needs of someone else. This is the movement that gives our life meaning and purpose. When we are able to focus on the needs of the world, we recognize our own inequities are trivial by comparison. We’re in position to see how Truly Blessed We Are, and all we have to give.
To all my relations, may we open our hearts to hear an inner calling. May we seek Divine Agency to open our eyes to someone outside of ourselves in need of a reason to keep going. May we reach beyond our Fear of Limitation to take on the Sacred Intention to Be the Blessing. “Here I Am, Lord. Send Me.”

5 Earth/CABAN (Cherokee, Heron/GUWI’SGUWI)
Galactic Tone 5: Empowerment. At the center of the cube we find Five. Five is an intelligent, organizing force which manages communications and materials, knowledge and application. Fives are natural net workers who gather what is needed. These persons can probe directly to the core of any situation making them excellent investigators.
Earth/Caban: Earth/Caban: Keeper of the garden of Earth. Profound synchronistic connections to Earth’s natural cycles and energies provide power of creations and memories of ancient wisdom. Earth persons help dispel bad intentions, habits and ideas. This makes them very good counselors and masters of all arts. Studious and intelligent, Earth persons endeavor to bring a flow of natural order to all aspects of life. Being connected to the dynamic forces of nature, Earth persons need much liberty to facilitate their expression of migration or the sending of long distance communications such as the whales, elephants, birds and many other creatures. Sometimes Earth’s delicate sensitivities are upset resulting in quakes of emotion even the display of volcanic temper.
Cherokee, Heron/GUWI’SGUWI: Sign of movement, of perpetual motion, recycling, regeneration; environmentalists fighting for the underdog. Heron is mentally alert, rational, yet opinionated; has a great faith in people and in the divine plan, holding the magic of ministry, medicine, marketing and matchmaking; healing abilities, especially with crystals; negotiation and mediation energy. Heron is symbolized by Deneb, located in the Northern Cross beside the Milky Way. “The Northern Cross is the Tree of Life, Beside the Milky Way River & Perched atop is Guwi’ sguwi, the Cherokee Heron Spirit Bird, comparable to the Egyptian Phoenix. One Myth has it that a Beautiful Young Maiden (the Heron Spirit Bird) fell from the Tree of Life in the Sky Vault, & Found no Place to Land on the Primordial Sea. Turtle came to the Surface of the Water & gave her a Place to Land. She nested & Laid her Cosmic Egg, From which came all Life on Earth.” (Cherokee Astrology: Animal, Medicine in the Stars, Raven Hail)
