MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
Peak Tone 9 completes a Transformation through the Intention of Patience to see the bigger picture. Tone 9 is all about completion. It comes with a warning that could be suffering to bear if we don’t look further into a new Truth. There is always something more to learn. Patience is an important Spiritual Tool for Divine Discernment.
Reed/BEN is the Guiding Light for Family and Home that looks to the needs of the children, the next generation. Reed/BEN is a good day to Bless the Home. This a day the Maya also check in on their neighbors to offer a helping hand. Reed/BEN recognizes the Family of the Whole.
The glyph illustrates an altar with channels of Divine Light Above. Below are the mats where Human kneels in Humility. The Reed is a symbol of our channel to the Divine. The Elders relate the Reed to the “hollow bone.” To make an accurate discernment of a Divine communication, requires the “flesh” to be stripped from the bone. Our Human “flesh” represents the influence of the ego. Only in Humility that “we don’t know” are our thoughts cleared to receive a Divine Truth. We have to let go of our attachment to worldly things, to be open to Divine Truth.
Reed/BEN is a Day Sign of very High Expectations, holding strong personal beliefs and integrity. Reed is encouraged to lead others with a garden hose, versus a steel pipe. One bends. Our greatest challenge is to find our own way. Each way will be different. Each way is Meant to be as Different as We Are.
The Elders always say, “There are many ways to accomplish the same thing.” They also say that the traditional ways are Proven and Worthy tools, used by many generations before. They are an offering to help us find a way. In the meantime, we can depend on a path that is already proven. The path of the Medicine Circle teachings accomplish the central objective of Vigilant Consciousness to life in all four directions. We will find our own way through our Transformation of Consciousness. We need to allow one another our own way.
One of my experiences of family, which may be common, is that family wants you to believe exactly what they believe. My family was vested in their own Faith and the Rules that went with it. It was a steel pipe situation. Rules only lay the groundwork for failure when it comes to what we Believe. It’s counter to the Creator’s plan. Who can ever tell us what to believe? We have to figure out what we believe. The only Truth we are ever able to stand on is our own. Thinking is our most Divine Gift. We were intended to think for our Self. I guess we could see it more clearly if we were talking about some distant relative. We’ve never met them or seen them, but we’re told to believe they are the most important of all and Love us the most. How could we believe that? We can only believe Truth that holds the Wisdom of our own Experience. The Creator’s Divine Gift was Free Choice. We can only demonstrate to others the Choices we’ve made to engage a Relationship with the Creator. It’s far more important to demonstrate the place where we each make our own personal connection.
Reed/BEN serves the altar of Family and the extended Family of Community. Serving the Whole is a demonstration of Divine Love. When Human animates the Unconditional Love of the Creator, we shape-shift into our Divine Image. Others, receiving the Blessing of Love, see the effects of a Divine Relationship.
There is something Divine in all the Service we offer to one another. Both sides see a Truth that the well-being of the Whole is important to our own Happiness. Think how wonderful life would be if we all checked in on one another every couple of weeks, just to offer a helping hand. When family stops in with a helping hand, it doesn’t have to be a big production. Family can make quick work of the task and be back out the door. I talked to Dad yesterday. My 91 and 92 year old parents are determined to stay on their own at home. He said my brother had stopped in to take out some trash, and while he was there, set lunch to heat on the stove. He set things right in a few minutes.
My dear friend, Jim, from Whidbey Island stopped by this week. It was a short visit, time to catch up, and he helped me carry some bags of trash to the dumpster. He helped set things right. First, knowing someone was coming by was the motivation I needed to get some things straight. The next morning when I woke up, I’d forgotten how clean the placed looked after his visit. The little things we do for each other are really Very Big things. A family checks in on one another. When they do, we Remember someone Loves us like Family.
A Family celebrates together, and supports one another through life’s ups and downs. We all go through ups and downs. We are encouraged to choose family that can see us in our Best Light. When I first moved to Tucson, my life and family relationships were falling apart. I was broken. One of my early acquaintances met me during one of the lowest points of life. They had no other reference of who I was, so broken I would be from the beginning of this relationship to the end. The only way out of my “broken corner” was to leave the friendship behind. Family was meant be a source of Hope to one another. It’s our own responsibility to choose a “family” that upholds our own family values.
Reed/BEN holds the Element of Fire. BEN holds the energy for Intellectual minds, creation, re-creation, new directions, and breaking the ties that bind. We were never meant to be bound to Rules, and Given a Choice to be bound to the Creator’s Love.
To all my relations, may we Give Thanks for the Blessing of Home and Family. May we know that family is important enough to choose, if we don’t have a close family of our own. May we allow others the Freedom to choose their own way. May we walk side by side in equality, remembering the Creator has a special plan for each one of us. May we never question one another’s Truth, remembering our Truth will change with each Transformation. May we Honor the Time and Place for every path, so we might each know the Joy of creating our own way. May we check in with those we Love, just to let them know we care. May we know there are many paths to a Divine Relationship. May we allow others the Unlimited Opportunity for the Choice that each of us must make for our Self.

9 Reed/BEN (Cherokee, Reed/I’HYA)
Galactic Tone 9: Patience. The energy of Nine is one of the getting a better perspective of the bigger picture. With the energy of Nine plans or patterns begin to come to completion. Nine requires patience and perseverance that is found in the bigger picture, otherwise there is great suffering from the lack of insight. The completion of cycles of action is all-important to Nine.
Reed/BEN: Reed persons are the spiritual essence, protectors and guiding light for family and home. They are competent speakers who will take up a cause. Very tough and analytical, Reeds endeavor to bring peace, harmony and order to all o their relations. Reeds are blessed with great skill at negotiations and consoling which are very often put to the test. Although Reeds need a lot of appreciation, may have marriage or business problems because of inflexible vies and high expectations, which erode affinity. The lesson for Reed is to be like a garden hose, not a steel pipe. Bless or repair your house.
Cherokee, Reed/I’HYA: Symbol-Reed is the Earth, reflection of the Star Chaga of Pollux. Reed made up the Magician Twins who led the journey to bring back to life the daughter of the Sun. The Casket is Gemini. Energy for Intellectual minds, creation, re-creation, new directions, breaking the ties that bind. A trailblazer and leader. From the East, direction of success and happiness, no matter what route is taken, always ending up in the Light.
