7 Deer / MANIK
Greetings Beloved Kin,
The Haab cycle (aka the “vague-year” calendar) is 365 days that approximates the solar year. The Haab is a nineteen month calendar. The Haab is composed of 18 months made of 20 days, and one month, made of 5 days. This 5-day month is called “Wayeb.” Thus, 18 x 20 + 5 = 365 days. Source: The Calendar System, Smithsonian (NMAI)
The last 5 days of the Haab are called the Nameless Days. The Tzolk’in dates carry on, while the Haab Year Bearer steps back for the New Year Bearer that takes its place at the Haab New Year (this year, 03/31/2023). The Maya make the adjustment by beginning the Year on the Zenital Sun in the Time and Place of different regions of the Maya lands. The Mayan count is slightly more accurate than the Gregorian calendar way of adding an extra day for a Leap Year.
Today, the Year Bearer 11 Deer/MANIK moves on for the New Year Bearer, 12 Road/EB that will take its place on March 31, 2023. Next Year the Haab New Year changes to 03/30/2024, when 12 Road/EB will be followed by 13 Earth/CABAN. The Haab year represents a Higher Meaning of Time and Truth that is revealed on a planetary scale of experience.

Algiz – Symbol of the Sage that knows the Highest Meaning and Purpose of our Life – to Save another.
11 Deer/MANIK raised our Consciousness through a Gift of Vigilant Consciousness to claim our Divine Mission in Life. MANIK is also known as Hand. The glyph illustrates Human’s hand that grasps a thread of ether as Light from Above that completes a circuit of Divine Power. MANIK represents the Destiny of the Mayan priest, who Counts the Days on behalf of the whole, and is dedicated to a daily practice to carry out the rituals and sacred ceremonies that are ordered by Time. Tone 11 marked a transformation that tuned us in to a Higher Consciousness of the Truth of the Supreme Lord of Creation. We’re completing a cycle that was intended as a Divine Wake-up Call and a Code of Activation to Stand in the integrity of our own Truth. The Deer stands in silence without the need to Defend the Truth that speaks for itself.
Today, 7 Deer/MANIK marks the beginning of the final month of the Haab, beginning as 0 Wayeb. The Wayeb marks the Time for Human to be guided by our own Wisdom of the Truth. Peak Tone 7 is the end of Human’s climb in the 7 days and 6 nights of Creation. From the top of the pyramid we can see “all that is” and “all that is not.” Number 7 is the symbol that relates to the Truth that we create our own reality. We define our own identity through all the choices we make. No one else is a witness to all the Times we’ve known, except for the One Above. The service of the Mayan priest is the Hand that helps us remember the One Who Answers every prayer. When we kneel at an altar in the Truth of our own limitations, the Creator’s Sacred Exchange is the Consciousness of Atonement. The Creator’s Truth never changes. At every end we see our Self as the Creator sees us to know the Truth of Unconditional Love.
Deer/MANIK resides in the West, the direction of our Unknown Future. Transformer/CIMI offered the “gift of clairvoyance” to see the future will be Beauty beyond our imagination, when our Hand is dedicated in service to the Divine Will of the One Above. Through the Element of Water, the Truth will speak through the Heart. The Element of Water is used by the Mayan priest for initiations, purification, blessings, and holy baptism. Our path is consecrated and blessed for Mission we have been prepared to carry to the New Year. The Holy of Holies lies at the top of the pyramid. We arrive in the place for a Divine Leap of Faith.
The Jaguar is the symbol of a Holy Spirit that guards all the temples and holy sites in the world. The altar to the Jaguar is in the 2nd Inner Room, guarding the Threshold. The Jaguar knows the way to cross using the “earth magic” of Gratitude. The Time is ordered for us to Count our Blessings in the all-around, the Above, and Below to enter into a Divine Sanctuary within.
Deer/MANIK is the “lord of the Day” that offers every Spiritual Tool for the Journey we make on the “hard road” of the realm below. The Tool to manifest our Highest State of Consciousness is the Truth. Wisdom is the application of the Truth that was shared from Above. It’s Time to be Vigilantly Conscious of the Highest Truth we know. MANIK holds the power to push away from negative thoughts, and a Gift of Harmonic Resonance, the Vibration of Love that calls all lower vibrations into sympathy to follow. MANIK’s Highest Truth is the Creator’s Divine Provision for every Human limitation.
MANIK is a symbol of stability with the legs to stand and a foot to plant in each of the 4 directions. A Divine Provision is the Only Truth we have to Remember, the Creator’s Promise of Answered Prayers.
Since we’re in charge, it’s time to see “all that is” and “all that is not” within our Human power to carry out. If we follow the Deer’s dedicated path to an altar, we’ll Remember the Truth that for everything beyond our power to carry out, a Divine Creator will carry out by Divine Intervention. We only have to remember to Ask to Receive. And, when our Intention is to Love on behalf of the Whole, a Divine Creator will step in. Only when we admit our own limits, are our eyes opened to see the Truth of a Miracle.
May we honor our beloved “tata,” Don Alejandro, the High Priest of the Maya. He was chosen as the 13th Generation Mayan priest to share the mysteries of the Mayan calendars with the world in the Time of the the 13th Baktun, the Time that completes an Era of Humanity. Don Alejandro, “Wandering Wolf,” is the High Priest who leads the indigenous tribes of the Maya lands, and throughout the world. From the top of the calendar pyramid we can Count our Blessings for the One who dedicated his life in service of the whole.
The Elders say that the Masters of the Spiritual Path, Know when we remember and send our Love as an offering. May we honor the Masters of every tradition who shared a Divine way to be.
love, in lak’ech

THE TRECENA OF CROCODILE/IMIX: DAWN OF A NEW AWAKENING
7 Deer/MANIK (Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi)
Galactic Tone 7: Reflective. Seven stands as a mirror to divide light and dark and to reflect all that is and is not. Seven is associated with the source of creation and the flow of Divine Will. With a keen sense of ethics, Seven establishes purpose to current and future goals.
Deer/MANIK (Hand): Deer are spirit tools. Silence itself is a spiritual experience for Deer. For Deer life is a pilgrimage. Deer are dominant persons who defend the people and will make sacrifices for others. The spirit of Deer upholds the pillars of the four directions. With the power inherent in the number four, Deer pushes away bad influences or negative energies. Skill and quality of work are very important to Deer. They are presented with tools for every task in life and it is with these that they are able to rise above limitations. Deer has a habit of keeping every tool it has ever used. This leads to clutter and indecision, loss and procrastination. When confronted with promises not kept, Deer becomes stubborn, manipulative and evasive.
Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi: Symbolized by Constellation Galagina, the Stag, known as Taurus, the Bull. It does not include the Pleiades and Hyades clusters which in Cherokee are viewed as separate. To feed, gatherers of food and supplies, they enjoy rituals, ceremonials, feasts, the souls of hospitality, sociability. Freedom versus security issues often inspire leadership and unique solutions. Combined with artistic and inspiring energies in harmony with lunar cycles, they nourish the clans. Totem-Deer: A priest or shaman, a powerful person in general, to overwhelm an individual with one’s personal power, divination; inclined to become a teacher, healer, guru, civic leader, or politician. Ability to create harmonic resonance.
