Olive’s 2nd Clutch, March 21, 2023 – Oceanside, CA

Greetings Beloved Kin,

I don’t care to follow the world news. For the past month, the news I followed has been the web cam of Olive’s 2nd clutch of 2023. It’s amazing how much the chicks grow each day.

Olive has spent the month coming and going, only spending the time it took to deliver the next meal. On April 20, she paid her first long visit to spend time with Lily and River at the nest. They were preparing to fledge. I couldn’t help wondering what was on her mind. She clearly knew the time had come.

One took a test flight on the following day, and both fledged on April 22, 2023.

Olive offered another meal on a branch close to the nest. Maybe the next job is leading them to the places to find their own meals.

Love is beautiful, and bittersweet.
