A Lack of Common Sense?
What happened to the people? Why did they walk away?
That seems to be a prevailing question about castles and monuments to kings. Some were taken over by military invaders and intentionally compromised so they could no longer serve as a fortress of power.
“Slighting” is the act of deliberately damaging a high-status building, especially a castle or fortification, which could include its contents and the surrounding area. The first recorded use of the word slighting to mean a form of destruction was in 1613.
A Common Sense answer applies to most fallen castles. A fundamental answer was offered among the comments on Quora: “Short answer? They are VERY expensive. For the maintenance and even daily operation.”
They may have been cold and drafty, but comfort and convenience was sacrificed for the purpose of defending personal holdings. Castles were built remotely in lofty locations. Owners invested their money in the opulence on the inside, “slighting” those who offered the service of “Home maintenance.”
The fact that castles needed to be defensible, however, made them often bad spots for habitation. Mountaintops are not good for farming. All consumables need to be carted in. Forever. The waste needs to be brought away. Do you want to end your workday with a 45 minute hike up a 30° slope?
The owner of the estate wasn’t making trips to town for provisions. And, they certainly would not be carrying away the human waste. When hope is gone, but for a future of servitude, eventually, we would all walk away. In the end, there was no one left to serve and maintain an opulent lifestyle or to fortify their position of power. Some castles were abandoned with all the opulence left in side. (No one to carry it away.)
Those who built such places and provided the daily services were the strength behind the stronghold from the beginning.
Who do we slight today? Where would we be without those who are willing to do the “work of living?” When there’s nothing left to gain, when the only option is going without, for those who need the power and control over all things, why bother living for the crumbs that fall from their table?
It’s happened before, and as long as history repeats itself, it will happen again.
The Haab Year that came before was 12 Road/EB, “the Grass” by the Aztec calendar. The Time was a prophecy about Human’s perennial Spirit. It was a new beginning where favor turned to the “oppressed” and bad luck was assured for the “oppressor.” The grass that was trampled, beaten down, and left for dead, never fails to rise again for the purpose of Life that was designed to carry on.
The grasses were the first green beings on the planet. They have survived since the beginning. The grasses hold Earth together and prevent erosion. They are the symbol of humility, and the first living creations to take over the land when they rise again.
Lofty places are best left as monuments to Nature. For Humanity to survive, we need our own space, yet live close enough together to lend a helping hand for the highest good of the whole. Every life was intended to serve in dignity. There was no one to accumulate the wealth or carry it home. But for those who carried out the manual labor there was no one to serve their daily meals.
Where I live, the real estate is well-below the prices of the national average. Though, communities flounder. The only plumbers available are hired by the commercial developers. I hope the new properties are built to the highest standards, since there are so few to carry on the ongoing need for home maintenance. All the power lies in the hands of the major landholders, accumulating personal wealth at the expense of the whole.

Galactic Tone 13: Ascension. Thirteen assists us to go to the next higher step, propels us to try something new or to try again. Thirteen energy takes us over the next mountain just to see what is there. Thirteen carries the last success to the newest effort. Thirteen is a number associated with the Ascended Masters, creation, expansion, and manifestation.
Jaguar/IX: Born with a deep love of the Mother Earth, Jaguar or shaman is directly tied to the source of all Earth magic. They possess great power of intellect and strength or character through integrity. Jaguar energy is feminine in nature and is the ruling spirit of jungles, plains, and mountains. The spirit of Jaguar inhabits the Mayan temples and is called on to assist in spiritual as well as in material ways. Jaguar is also the god/goddess of gratefulness. Patience born of strength and skill can turn to pounce of quick decision and action. Both bold and stealth, Jaguars do not often attack directly and communications from them usually contain some mystery. In the absence of integrity, Jaguars power corrupts becoming a search for wealth and fame.
A GOOD DAY TO: Commune and give thanks to Mother Nature.
Cherokee, Panther/SAHO’NI: Panther is symbolized by comets, meteors, shooting stars, fireballs, and magicians. Meteors appearing around the middle of November are Heralds of the Coming of the Light, the Cherokee New Year. Panther is the Shadow of the Sphinx, Herald of the Dawn, guardian of the night when the sun is traveling through the underworld. Panthers have unlimited imaginations, visualizations, and are spellbinding speakers. The Totem Jaguar is the guardian of the portals to other dimensions; shamanic abilities will open; multi-dimensional magic; healer, leader, way shower energy when used for spiritual growth. Abuse would be for using this power for control or negative purposes; must find a powerful balance.

“‘Double’ meteor shower will light up the skies next week.” (LiveScience.com)
Stargazers will soon be able to witness a “double” meteor shower as both the Alpha Capricornids and the Southern Delta Aquariids peak next week. Southern Delta Aquariids will peak July 29 to July 30 — and comet 169P/NEAT, which births the Alpha Capricornids that will peak July 30 to July 31.
The twin-skywatching event is “just an amazing coincidence,” Nicholas Moskovitz, a planetary astronomer at Lowell Observatory in Arizona, told Live Science.
