Full Sturgeon Super Moon, a Seasonal Blue Moon, and Jupiter Square Saturn (August 19, 2024)

A Test of Standing in Integrity

Square Between Jupiter and Saturn

Square angles present a test to our Inner Vision. There is no clear reflection to see the circumference of the “circle within the square.” Our only clear point of reference is the vision from an opposing corner. (Sextile is the perspective for a six-sided view within our circle of Consciousness.) Saturn is the task-master that discerns the Truth in “black and white.” Jupiter is our fun-loving side that will present the challenge. Jupiter presents the comfort and pleasures we want to enjoy right now. Saturn’s focus is on the Wisest Choices for the future.

It’s time to think clearly about the consequences of all the choices we make, when there could be a tendency to find our ease today at the expense of tomorrow. The good news is that when we “fight the good fight” we can climb out of old patterns to claim Higher Ground with far-reaching benefits.

The most important leg we have to stand on is the Higher Self within guided by a Hand Above that knows everything, can do anything, and who promises to share the Means and the Way through and beyond every Human limitation. We can emerge from the experience with inner-strength like we’ve never known before.

Jupiter and Saturn’s square magnifies the intentions of Integrity presented by the Full Sturgeon Moon. It’s a Super Moon and a seasonal Blue Moon. When the moon is closest to Earth (perigee) during a Full Moon it appears larger. We are offered a closer look at the influence of our emotions. This is the third of four full moons that occur between the solstice and equinox, an astronomical season. Astronomers call the third full moon a seasonal blue moon, which is a rare occurrence. when the moon’s orbit is closest (perigee) to Earth at the same time it is full. We can reframe the “negative aspects” of a challenge into a “once-in-a-blue-moon” opportunity. It’s Time to apply our Highest Consciousness to make the Wisest Choices that guarantee we’ll be left standing on Holy Ground. (The Word is the guarantee if we humble our self to the Truth and obey Divine Orders.)

The Sturgeon Full Moon – Old Farmer’s Almanac

August’s Full Moon, the Sturgeon Moon, will peak on Monday, August 19 … and, it’s the first Supermoon of the year!

August’s full Moon will appear on the afternoon of Monday, August 19, reaching peak illumination at 2:26 P.M. Eastern Time. That evening, look toward the southeast after sunset to catch a glimpse of the Sturgeon Moon rising.

The name Sturgeon Moon comes from the giant lake sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain; this native freshwater fish was readily caught during this part of summer and an important food staple for Native Americans who lived in the region. At one time the lake sturgeon was quite abundant in late summer, though they are rarer today.

These prehistoric-looking fish have been traced back to around 136 million years ago, and many people call them “living fossils.”

  • Females require around 20 years to start reproducing, and they can only reproduce every 4 years. However, they can live up to 150 years!
  • Today, there are about 29 species worldwide, including the lake sturgeon found in the Great Lakes. They have evolved in size from the size of a bass to a monster sturgeon as big as a Volkswagen.
  • The lake sturgeon is quite rare today, due to intense overfishing in the 19th century, pollution, and damage to their habitat.

Alternative August Moon Names

Flying Up Moon is a Cree term describing the time when young birds are finally ready to take the leap and learn to fly.

Corn Moon (Algonquin, Ojibwe), Harvest Moon (Dakota), and Ricing Moon (Anishinaabe) signify that this is the time to gather maturing crops. Along the same vein, the Assiniboine people named this period Black Cherries Moon, referring to when chokecherries become ripe.

MoonGiant.com Report on the Full Sturgeon Moon

August’s full moon is called the Full Sturgeon Moon, after the primitive fish that used to be abundant in North America’s lakes and rivers during the summer months. Having remained mostly unchanged since the earliest fossil records, sturgeons are ancient living fossils that can grow up until 3.5 meters long, or as long as two adult humans stacked on top of each other. Nowadays, however, it’s almost impossible to see a sturgeon during the Full Sturgeon Moon. While they used to thrive, sturgeons are now considered the single most critically endangered group of species on earth – and you might be part of the reason why.

Have you ever eaten caviar? Some species of sturgeons are harvested for their roe, which is then processed into caviar. Because of this, wild sturgeons have been exploited to the brink of extinction due to overfishing and illegal poaching. In addition, they are also vulnerable to water pollution, and their breeding grounds are often damaged due to agriculture and lumbering. Though sturgeons are extremely long-lived – the females can live up to be 150 years old – sturgeons might not be around for much longer. They might have survived the dinosaurs, but they might not be able to survive human beings and our hunger for luxurious delicacies like caviar. But there is something even more terrifying than hungry human beings: hungry ghosts.

The plight of the Sturgeon is that the catch for caviar is the fish that should be thrown back for the preservation of a species that only produces roe every 4 years. You can make a lot more money from a product in a small jar that’s easy to ship. The Elders taught us the rules of “picking” – to never harvest from a single plant growing alone, and to only choose from large families with plenty of life to spare. And only then, when we’ve asked permission, offered a sacred exchange, and then only pick the stems that easily give way.  We are the top of the food chain. It’s important to see and acknowledge the exchange of the energy of Life. The Sturgeon’s demise is the result of some very bad picking for no sacred reason, other than a momentary extravagance.

We have a once-in-a-blue-moon chance to reach higher ground through choices that honor the dignity of life, and turn away from the unconscious ways we take advantage of all Life on Mother Earth, including our own.  It’s a perfect time before the Harvest to consider how we can make the most of the blessing without squandering a Divine Resource of Abundance.

It’s just as important to invest our self in obeying our inner guidance system of Divine Discernment. I was presented with an invitation to an event I don’t want to intend, but felt obligated to attend… a “grown-up party” intended as a child’s birthday celebration. I didn’t want to hurt feelings. The feelings I’m hurting are my own. We can ALWAYS change our mind. The idea has been turning my stomach, so not feeling well would be a valid excuse. Other people change their minds at the last minute. We can too, if it restores our sense of Peace and leaves us standing in the integrity of our own True North. The more I’ve thought about it, the more I see the Truth as the better “excuse” to avoid a repeat in the future. “I’m not much of a party person anymore” is good enough without casting a shadow over the choices we’re all free to make.

That may be the theme of our face-off with the Jupiter/Saturn square, and a Full Super Moon/Blue Moon that is offering a major transformation to Higher Ground. We always have the right to say “no.” And, by my way of thinking, “no” is the key intention, no matter how we say it, as long as we comply with the Rules of Right Relationship that doesn’t impose Our Way on another Human Being. We can just say “no,” but it doesn’t hurt to have a backup plan.

It’s time to take charge over our life and bear the responsibilities of standing in integrity. Manage your own transportation. Have a last-minute exit strategy, claim the right to change your mind, and think twice before you invest your hard-earned abundance on a short-term pleasure. It’s a good time to break old habits and behaviors. A new strategy that’s helped me to resist the splurge on fast food has been preparing food that make good left-overs. It makes a difference when there’s fast food in the kitchen that’s good for me. (And, these days, fast food is a luxury that offers little value.) And, I’m making a concerted effort to turn off the lights.

God will change us by the Intentions of our Heart. All we have to do is Ask for help and take one small step in the right direction. Life is an ongoing battle of “Spring Cleaning.” One small effort always leads to something bigger. A rhythm and pattern of behavior,  no matter how small the changes may be, are turned into the Force of Momentum, so that small steps can be turned into Giant Leaps of Faith. God is Good to us. When we hold fast to our Highest Intentions, God will make a way. And, small steps can bring instant relief to unseen fears that linger as potential consequences of the future. If you have to think more than twice about a “luxury” purchase, that’s the clear sign you can live without it. We claim a life of abundance when we claim we have everything we need, and that’s more than enough.

Gratitude is the Magic we can turn to, to remember how blessed we are if we have a roof over our head, a safe place to sleep, and food to survive. When we acknowledge small blessings, our Spirit is blessed when we see a list that goes on forever. One of the traditions of the Hebrew faith that I love is their way of having a prayer for everything. There’s a prayer of gratitude to be offered when they use the bathroom. That’s the first sign than our body is working in divine order. All things want to be seen and acknowledged for their good works. Every living cell of life is Conscious of Love. We can offer a prayer for the good of ALL life on Earth.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-28
16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19 Quench not the Spirit.
20 Despise not prophesyings.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

10 Earth/CABAN (Cherokee, Heron/GUWI’SGUWI)  – Day 10 of 13 of the 1 Star/LAMAT trecena

Descriptions by Ian Xel Lungold (12 Sun/AHAU), wisdom and Tzolk’in calculator preserved on MayanMajix.com

Galactic Tone 10: Manifestation. What were once intentions or ideas, hopes or fears become physically present with the energy of Ten. What is focused upon with attention and intention becomes real with Ten. Ten is a powerful energy that carries a great responsibility.

Earth/Caban: Keeper of the garden of Earth. Profound synchronistic connections to Earth’s natural cycles and energies provide power of creations and memories of ancient wisdom. Earth persons help dispel bad intentions, habits and ideas. This makes them very good counselors and masters of all arts. Studious and intelligent, Earth persons endeavor to bring a flow of natural order to all aspects of life. Being connected to the dynamic forces of nature, Earth persons need much liberty to facilitate their expression of migration or the sending of long distance communications such as the whales, elephants, birds and many other creatures. Sometimes Earth’s delicate sensitivities are upset resulting in quakes of emotion even the display of volcanic temper.

A GOOD DAY TO: Give thanks to Mother Earth for all her gifts.

Cherokee, Heron/GUWI’SGUWI: Sign of movement and perpetual motion, Heron is symbolized by Deneb, located in the Northern Cross beside the Milky Way. “The Northern Cross is the Tree of Life, Beside the Milky Way River & Perched atop is Guwi’ sguwi, the Cherokee Heron Spirit Bird, comparable to the Phoenix that rises from the ashes of the past.

Live with all your heart.
