THE TRECENA OF SERPENT/CHICCHAN: AWAKENING THE GIFTS OF SPIRIT
MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
1 Serpent/CHICCHAN (chik ‘kahn), Cherokee, Serpent/DO’TSI, Destiny Kin: 105, Position 5
May 7, 2026, 05/07/2026; Times Before: 08/20/2025, 12/03/2024, 03/18/2024
Greetings Beloved Kin,
In the First Season of life the Highest Intention is to know everything we are capable to be and do. Our Heart longs for a Divine Meaning and Purpose to be. In the Second Season the Fire of Spirit ignites an all-consuming passion to create the Masterpiece of our Life.
We know that there are an unlimited number of things we can do if we invested the Time to learn. The lingering question is whether we will. Nothing can stop us from reaching the end when we’re ignited by Fire of Spirit. A Divine Father shares an all-consuming Reason to become who we are intended to be.

We overcome Human limitations when our Will is Forged to the Will of God. CHICCHAN is a Fire of Spirit ignites the Force of Creation.
PORTAL 5:5:5
Serpent/CHICCHAN holds the Position 5 of Empowerment. In the 5th month and the 5th uinal, this cycle of CHICCHAN is marked by the symbol 5 in Divine Trinity.
A CYCLE OF LIGHT
The 13 Days cycle of Serpent/CHICCHAN represents an Empowerment by the Light of God’s Divine Inspiration. CHICCHAN holds Position 5, the symbol of Empowerment for Change. God will do for us what we can’t do for our self. CHICCHAN is the Yod, a touch from the Hand of God.
HOLY OBSERVANCE: 8 ROAD/EB
May 14, 2026, 8 Road/EB is the Holy Day of Destiny. The Creator will share who we are becoming and by the Power of the Holy Spirit, to Power and Passion to follow a Dream that manifests a Divine Meaning and Purpose for our Life.
The Feathered Serpent is a symbol of the Source of Enlightenment and Illumination. The snake sees its prey by Feeling the vibrations of movement through Earth. Its eyes sees the warmth of life as a thermal image.
CHICCHAN is the Sense to Feel the presence of God as a Quickening that begins when the Truth grasps our Heart, sends chills up our spine, and blood that rushes to our Crown. We’ve felt it before as “fight or flight”. The same “charge” of Light can move us to carry out God’s Will.
A warning at the beginning…
When God moves us into action we take a back seat. God speaks through us. You may be compelled to speak the Truth without giving it a second thought. Then your face turns red. The Snake teaches us to be fluid and flexible. If you spoke the Truth, don’t take it back. Don’t try to defend or explain it. Leave quietly and let the Truth speak for itself.
Serpent/CHICCHAN is inclined to “speak for us” when we’re backed into a corner. Trust that the Lord knew the Truth when he speaks for you. Trust that the Lord is the One who opens our Eyes and Ears. The Holy Spirit determines what we see and hear. Don’t depend on knowing the right words to say.
By Faith we can call upon the Holy Spirit. We never have to walk away from another human conversation wondering about what we “should have said” when the Holy Spirit speaks for us. We only have to Allow God’s Will to be.
CHICCHAN “lights the fuse that magnifies and explodes the life force itself. Knowledge, combining science, technology and psychology, plus spirituality are seeded on the planet.”
The symbol of Yod is found in many traditions. The image from the Mayan Florentine Codex illustrates the Yod as one who “sees the naked truth”. Gifts are awakened for a Divine Purpose — not to take advantage. The Holy Spirit speaks the plain Truth with the Intention of Love.
The Thoughts for the Day by the Christian Calendar
Thursday of the Fifth Week of Easter, Lectionary: 288
Peter declares that every Human, Jew or Gentile, holds the equal Power of the Word when they are consumed by the Fire of the Holy Spirit.
Reading I, Acts 15:7-21
After much debate had taken place,
Peter got up and said to the Apostles and the presbyters,
“My brothers, you are well aware that from early days
God made his choice among you that through my mouth
the Gentiles would hear the word of the Gospel and believe.
And God, who knows the heart,
bore witness by granting them the Holy Spirit
just as he did us.
He made no distinction between us and them,
for by faith he purified their hearts.
Why, then, are you now putting God to the test
by placing on the shoulders of the disciples
a yoke that neither our ancestors nor we have been able to bear?
On the contrary, we believe that we are saved
through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they.”
The whole assembly fell silent,
and they listened
while Paul and Barnabas described the signs and wonders
God had worked among the Gentiles through them.
Responsorial Psalm
Psalm 96:1-2a, 2b-3, 10
R. Proclaim God’s marvelous deeds to all the nations.
Sing to the LORD a new song;
sing to the LORD, all you lands.
Sing to the LORD; bless his name.
R. Proclaim God’s marvelous deeds to all the nations.
Announce his salvation, day after day.
Tell his glory among the nations;
among all peoples, his wondrous deeds.
R. Proclaim God’s marvelous deeds to all the nations.
Say among the nations: The LORD is king.
He has made the world firm, not to be moved;
he governs the peoples with equity.
R. Proclaim God’s marvelous deeds to all the nations.
Alleluia, John 10:27
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
My sheep hear my voice, says the Lord;
I know them, and they follow me.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel, John 15:9-11
Jesus said to his disciples:
“As the Father loves me, so I also love you.
Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commandments
and remain in his love.
“I have told you this so that
my joy might be in you and
your joy might be complete.”
GUARDIAN OF THE CYCLE: The Promise at the End
We Ascend on May 19, 2026, 13 Earth/CABAN – a Force of Nature that shakes us to the core is the Answer to a Prayer. CABAN is the Clarion Call that begins every Great Migration on Earth. The end from the beginning is a Reason to Live with all our Heart.
LOOK TO THE SIGNS OF TRUTH YOU FEEL. Pay attention to your gut instincts and honor your Feelings. And, give thanks that all things can be turned to a Divine Purpose by the Hand of God.

Matthew 24:42-44 NIV
42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
PRAYERS FROM THE THIRD WATCH – SPIRITUAL WARFARE, GOD’S WILL SHALL BE
The next time you’re drawn to Pray, refer to the 8 Watches by the Time of Day, AFTER. The Bible refers to Watchers from Above (‘iyr in Hebrew) in Daniel 4:13, 17, 23. We’re called to our prayers by high-ranking angelic beings sent from heaven to observe and execute divine decrees. You may find synchronicity in the Time when you look, after your prayers.
THE EIGHT WATCHES
Night Watch
- First Watch: 6 pm – 9 pm – Contemplation and laying foundations in prayer.
- Second Watch: 9 pm – 12 am – Intercessory prayer for protection of ourselves and those around us
- Third Watch: 12 am – 3 am – Spiritual warfare (We are covered by the blood of Jesus.)
- Fourth Watch: 3 am – 6 am – Prophetic prayer because you are commanding your morning with prophetic decrees and declaring God’s word
Day Watch
- Fifth Watch: 6 am – 9 am – Petitions. Ask for strength and surrender. Ask for the Holy Spirit to help you before you start your day
- Sixth Watch: 9 am – 12 pm – Thanksgiving prayer (on behalf of the whole)
- Seventh Watch : 12 pm – 3 pm – This is the seventh watch of rest. 7 Biblically represents that. This is a time to seek God in the secret place
- Eighth Watch: 3 pm – 6 pm – This is the eight and final watch of the night and a time for prayer for revival and renewal. Symbolically, Christ died at 3 pm.
THE TRECENA OF SERPENT/CHICCHAN: AWAKENING THE GIFTS OF SPIRIT

The “Tzolk’in Field Guide” is my gift to download that includes the Count of Days with the aspects for each Destiny Kin and highlights for a personal practice with each trecena. It’s designed as a companion for daily practice.
It only takes 13 days to see how a Divine Intention set at the beginning, always end with the Truth of Answered Prayers. You only have to track your thoughts to stay on course. Often the matters on your mind follow the divine order of Time as the meaning of every Day.
Visit the 13-Day Trecena Guide. to download a free copy. Volume 1 covers the first two seasons of the Tzolk’in, and Volume 2 covers the 3rd and 4th seasons to the end of the Tzolk’in round.
Serpent/CHICCHAN is the 3nd trecena of the 2nd season of the Tzolk’in round, found in Volume 1. There’s something more to see when you discern the meaning of Time for yourself. The meaning of time is revealed by the thoughts on your mind.
NOTE: Tone 1 reflects the 1st Light of Divine Inspiration as the “legend” of this chapter of Time. If you forget where you are, return to Tone 1 to see the “First Light” of Divine Inspiration.
1 Serpent/CHICCHAN, Cherokee, Serpent/DO’TSI – Day 1 of 13 in the trecena of 1 Serpent CHICCHAN
Descriptions by Ian Xel Lungold (12 Sun/AHAU), who’s wisdom and Tzolk’in date calculator is preserved on MayanMajix.com
Galactic Tone 1: Unity. One is the beginning of all things, the first, the whole and the all in one. One’s are assertive and self-guided and give a good push to whatever project they are associated with. One persons work best when meeting a challenge. Do not expect One-persons to be attentive to details or to put the finishing touches on things.
Serpent/CHICCHAN: Movement and the creation of time. Sensual and dramatic, this sun sign embodies intense instinctual wisdom and creates a connection from Earth bound, to Heavenly aspirations. By sincere service to others, Serpent opens and expands its heart. Serpent aligns authority and the truth to bring justice that is quick and sure. Serpents are very adaptable, even fluid until trapped in a corner, and then they explode. Serpents, venomous temper poisons itself as well as others by creating resentful, suppressive and even destructive attitudes.
A GOOD DAY TO: Ask for flexibility and fluidity.
Cherokee, Serpent/DO’TSI: Serpent’s symbol is Constellation Serpens. Serpent people are Sky people who come to earth periodically as Educators. As above-So below, on Earth the Serpent is the roots of the tree of knowledge. Serpent power is vital energy, the moving force, the instinct and desire for creativity, the trigger that sets off the action. It lights the fuse that magnifies and explodes the life force itself. Knowledge, combining science, technology and psychology, plus spirituality are seeded on the planet.
A CHICCHAN DREAM THAT MANIFESTED CREATION:
1 Serpent/CHICCHAN (July 8, 2018) inspired a Pilgrimage to Ek’ Balam, the manifestation of an “impossible” dream. The “first light” was an offering to go for the Day of the Dead festival. Those plans fell apart, but Divine Timing compelled me to find a way when I discovered that October 31, 2018 was 12 Sun/AHAU, Ian Xel Lungold’s Mayan Birthday, 13 years after his passing. That was the first of endless signs that confirmed one Time and Place I was divinely intended to be.
[Text in italics was the primary source of inspiration for my journal. These are the sources that started my journey and they are the reference for interpretation each day. By providing the original text, I hope to offer a way to see what inspired my thoughts and by including all the aspects – allow for something more to inspire you. Mayan descriptions are those written by Ian Lungold. Cherokee descriptions came from multiple sources. Links to sources and other resources of study are offered on the Daykeeper Resources Page. ~Debra]
