“Twisted Plasmoid” – Movie on Spaceweather.com the Past Catches up to the Leading Edge of the explosion

Exploration and New Telescopic Discoveries

Big Bear Valley is an epicenter for new discoveries in Spaceweather, and in the Eagle’s latest call to exploration.

SPACEWEATHER.COM NEWS: 06/12/2025

A HIDDEN WORLD OF SOLAR ACTIVITY: Astronomers at the Big Bear Solar Observatory had a new toy and they *really* wanted to play with it.

Back in 2023, a team led by Dirk Schmidt developed a new adaptive optics system for the Goode Telescope in California’s Big Bear Lake. Theoretically, it should be able to take the best pictures ever of structures in the sun’s atmosphere. When the tech was ready, the team started randomly patrolling the corona to see what they might find. Within minutes they made a discovery.

Twisted Plasmoid

“We became astounded witnesses to a strange, short-lived object,” the team writes in a Nature Astronomy article published May 27th. “We call it a twisted plasmoid.”

The plasmoid is nothing like anyone has seen inside the sun’s atmosphere before. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory was observing at the same time and saw almost nothing. The Big Bear adaptive optics system is so good at correcting the turbulent blur of Earth’s atmosphere, it outperforms space telescopes.

The Discovery Leads Others to Follow

It’s not clear whether this is a significant discovery or just something idiosyncratic and weird. We’ll soon find out. The researchers plan to install the same system on the giant Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope in Hawaii, where adaptive optics could reveal an even greater menagerie.

Let the plasmoid hunt begin!

CO-ROTATING INTERACTION REGION: A G2-class geomanetic storm is possible on June 14th when a co-rotating interaction region (CIR) is expected to hit Earth’s magnetic field. CIRs are transition zones between slow- and fast-moving streams of solar wind. They contain shock waves and enhanced magnetic fields that do a good job sparking auroras.

The Eagles at Big Bear Valley

The latest update from Friends of Big Bear Valley shares Sunny and Gizmo’s next assignment. They received a call before dawn from Shadow and Jackie to get ready to follow their plan for the day. They learned to fly, the next lesson is to explore their habitat. Jackie and Shadow picked their home location well, near a dead tree that stands tall above the others. It’s a landmark that’s easy to see above the forest. It’s a perfect place for them to employ their telescopic vision.

They are seen soaring together. Mom and Dad spend the Day close at hand, bringing extra fish to the nest as their reward. Jackie and Shadow perform some household repairs while they’re at the nest.

Sunny and Gizmo will have to learn to fish, but the first priority is to know the landscape and the way back home.

10 Wisdom/CIB (Cherokee, Owl U’GUKU’) – Day 10 of 13 of the 1 Deer/MANIK trecena

Descriptions by Ian Xel Lungold (12 Sun/AHAU), wisdom and Tzolk’in calculator preserved on MayanMajix.com

Galactic Tone 10: Manifestation. What were once intentions or ideas, hopes or fears become physically present with the energy of Ten. What is focused upon with attention and intention becomes real with Ten. Ten is a powerful energy that carries a great responsibility.

Wisdom/CIB: The old ones. Wisdom of the ancients. Wisdom persons are aligned with the ancient memories that wait in the stone of temples and sacred sites all over the world. Wisdom people grow luck like a crop using a balance of prudence and tenacity. The tremendous inner strength of this sign enables silent introspection to discover areas of oneself that contain wisdom more valuable than any trove of archaeological treasure. Wisdom persons are valiant defenders of family and community. They may become hardened to life and sentiment turned cold. In these cases, they need much forgiveness for their uncaring errors. Periodically connecting with nature and or visiting sacred sites will bring great stability to wisdom persons.

A GOOD DAY TO: Sit on a rock.

Cherokee, Owl U’GUKU’ : Symbol is the Owl is Arcturus, the brightest Star in the Constellation Bootes. The Cherokee Bear constellation (Ursa Major) includes the Big Dipper plus four stars in Bootes.  Owl is a hunter, who stands for the wisdom and ability of all great hunters, the cunning of a fox, the tenacity of a bulldog and strength of a bear. Energy for deep thinkers, strong-willed, rigid convictions, bold and authoritative.  Owl is the Mystic Ferryman who guides Earthlings on the return path to the stars holding the torch aloft.
