Saint Lawrence: A Feast for August (and Flint/ETZNAB)
My path has been blessed by the Communion of Saints. Engaging the Saints is one difference between the Catholic and Protestant Christian traditions. The Christian doctrine considers it the sin of worshiping idols. Catholic tradition views it as Communion with the Body of Christ (ie. Humans that ascend in Spirit become One in the Spirit of Christ).
You can explore the Communion of Saints and the meaning of the traditions in an article, “The Bible Supports Praying to the Saints” by Fr. Mitch Pacwa, published 7/1/1990 published in the Catholic.com Magazine, to discern your own truth. I was raised in the Methodist Church, so it’s all new to me.
The Feast of Saint Lawrence was celebrated August 10. I discovered him “by accident” when a prayer card for Saint Lawrence was included when I ordered a card for Saint Jude (Thaddeus) who became my patron Saint a little over 3 years ago.
He was a “testy” Saint who’s story reminds me of Flint, and standing in his Truth in no uncertain terms. Saint Lawrence or Laurence was one of the seven deacons of the city of Rome under Pope Sixtus II who were martyred in the persecution of the Christians that the Roman emperor Valerian ordered in 258. I never heard of him, but found he is among the most venerated Saints. His remains rest at the Basilica of St Lawrence Outside the Walls, Rome, Italy. Read on to hear his story, how he was martyred, and the Divine Reason why.
“This is the Church’s treasure!” ~ Saint Lawrence

Saint Lawrence was one of seven deacons in charge of giving help to the poor and needy. When a persecution broke out, Pope Sixtus II was condemned to death. As he was led to execution, Lawrence followed him weeping, “Father, where are you going without your deacon?” he said.
“I am not leaving you, my son,” answered the Pope. “In three days you will follow me.” Full of joy, Lawrence gave to the poor the rest of the money he had on hand and even sold expensive vessels to have more to give away.
The Prefect of Rome, a greedy man, thought the Church had a great fortune hidden away. So he ordered Lawrence to bring the Church’s treasure to him. The Saint said he would, in three days. Then he went through the city and gathered together all the poor and sick people supported by the Church. When he showed them to the Prefect, he said, “This is the Church’s treasure!”
In great anger, the Prefect condemned Lawrence to a slow, cruel death. The Saint was tied on top of an iron grill over a slow fire that roasted his flesh little by little. But Lawrence was burning with so much love of God that he almost did not feel the flames.
In fact, God gave him so much strength and joy that he even joked. “Turn me over,” he said to the judge. “I’m done on this side!” Just before he died, Lawrence said, “It’s cooked enough now.” Then he prayed that the city of Rome might be converted to Jesus and that the Catholic Faith might spread all over the world. After that, he went to receive the martyr’s reward.
Saint Lawrence is a testament to the Power of the Holy Spirit, and what God will do for those who dare stand for one another. He survived a Trial by Fire to ascend in Spirit to become One in the Body of Christ.
Saint Lawrence is depicted in his deacon’s robe (dalmatic) along with the grid-iron upon which he was roasted in the Name of the Lord. God’s ways are mysterious, and there is no end to what he will do for those who Love and Serve as a Hand of God in the Lord’s Highest Mission.
God goes before us, and after. When we claim Christ’s Salvation, God will see us through in ways beyond our imagination.
The Communion with the Saints isn’t worshiping the Saint, but the Holy Spirit of Christ that dwelled within them on Earth as it is in Heaven. He deserves to be remembered for his Passionate Truth, and his Divine sense humor.
“Turn me over. I’m done on this side.”
Saint Lawrence is a blessing to my Spirit, as are all the Saints and Apostles who spoke Truth and nothing but the Truth to power at the cost of his life.
Thank you, Saint Lawrence. I won’t forget what you did for me and all the Children of God.
(I’ll be sharing more about the Saints in hopes that their sacrifices express what the Holy Spirit can do.)
love, in lak’ech,
Debra
MAYAN CALENDAR SYNCHRONICITY: Saint Lawrence was born December 31, 225 AD, Huesca, Spain, Destiny Kin 3 Crocodile/IMIX, a Day that represents the Communion with God’s Spirit, and Tone 3, a Day we are moved by the Holy Spirit to begin a Divine Creation inspired from Above. (I used Ian Xel Lungold’s Tzolk’in calculator, entering the year 0225 to accommodate the required 4-digits. AD is likely as far back as it can go.)
PRAYERS FROM THE SIXTH WATCH

The LORD is our Divine Witness who sees and hears everything, and Knows the Truth.
Matthew 24:42-44 NIV
42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

The “Tzolk’in Field Guide” is my gift to download that includes the Count of Days with the aspects for each Destiny Kin and highlights for a personal practice with each trecena. It’s designed as a companion for daily practice.
It only takes 13 days to see how Faith is always raised to Knowing the Truth of Answered Prayers. You only have to track your thoughts. Record the matters on your mind in a journal to see how your perspective is changed by a Divine Order of Thoughts.
Visit the 13-Day Trecena Guide. to download a free copy. Volume 1 covers the first two seasons of the Tzolk’in, and Volume 2 covers the 3rd and 4th to the end of the Tzolk’in round.
Road/EB is the 2nd trecena of the 2nd season of the Tzolk’in round, found in Volume 1. There’s something more to see when you discern the meaning of Time for yourself. The meaning of time is revealed by the thoughts on your mind.
NOTE: Tone 1 reflects the 1st Light of Divine Inspiration as the “legend” of this chapter of Time. If you forget where you are, return to Tone 1 to see the “First Light” of Divine Inspiration for this climb of Faith.

Descriptions by Ian Xel Lungold, 12 Sun/AHAU. His wisdom and Free Tzolk’in calculator is preserved on MayanMajix.com
Galactic Tone 7: Reflective. Seven stands as a mirror to divide light and dark and to reflect all that is and is not. Seven is associated with the source of creation and the flow of Divine Will. With a keen sense of ethics, Seven establishes purpose to current and future goals.
Flint/ETZNAB: Mirror of reality. As a struck flint, these persons are the divine sparks of intelligence. Flint’s innate abilities are utilized to discriminate emotions from fact. Flint persons stand tireless to protect, defend, or cure others by personal sacrifice. By courageously wielding the sword of truth, falsehoods are cut away. Flints, it was said, can receive information on inter-personal troubles or evil plots of others by reflecting in an obsidian mirror. Their valiant service as warriors of the truth must be impeccable or they will experience sufferings of accidents, misunderstandings and gossip.
A GOOD TO: Spend time in reflection and introspection.
Cherokee, Flint/DAWI’SGALA: Opener of the Way, a creator, innovator, stretches the mind to outside limits of capabilities. Changes the static to the dynamic. Brings about change, often through separation and destruction. Beams the Stellar Ray of Truth to Earth as a crystal sword cast down along the path of a lightning flash. Flint is the transformer that brings things to a head and wipes the slate clean.

I went to Catholic High School for my senior year and I did not understand anything about the religion at the time. In the last few years though, I actually find a great deal of comfort in learning about and communing with Saints, realizing the ones that have been there all along helping me stay strong, etc. I appreciate this post! Thank you!
I no longer belong to a church, but if I ever do, I think that’s where I would go. much love, Debra
