SPACEWEATHER: Last Glimpse of Titan’s Shadow, CIR May Have Arrived

Titan’s Final Transit of Saturn Until 2040

SPACEWEATHER.COM NEWS: 08/19/2025

LAST CHANCE TO SEE TITAN’S SHADOW: Time is running out to witness a rare spectacle on Saturn. Since May, amateur astronomers have been spotting the shadow of Titan–Saturn’s strangely Earthlike moon–as it glides across the ringed planet’s cloudtops.

“I am very happy to have recorded this very RARE event on Aug. 3rd,” says Philip Smith of Manorville, NY.

The next opportunity comes on Aug. 19th, and it will be one of the final transits of the series. After the season ends in October, observers will have to wait until the 2040s for another chance.

Shadow transits like these occur only during Saturn’s equinoxes, when sunlight strikes the planet’s rings and moons edge-on. Among Saturn’s menagerie of 274 known satellites, Titan’s shadow stands out as immense, jet black, and visible even in modest backyard telescopes.

Gregory Shanos of Longboat Key, FL, has photographed six transits in the current cycle:

“Note how the shadow begins just above the rings in May and gets higher on the disk with each successive transit,” he says. The Aug. 19th transit will be the highest yet, with a visibly elongated disk stretching toward Saturn’s pole.

Every transit lasts hours. Titan’s shadow marches slowly across Saturn’s globe rather than flashing by in an instant, giving observers plenty of time to experiment with photo settings and soak in the view through the eyepiece.

The Aug. 19th event begins at 05:52 UT (01:52 am EDT) and ends about four hours later. Saturn will be high in the southern sky, shining at magnitude +0.6 in the constellation Piscessky map.

Enjoy the show–it won’t be back for nearly two decades.

THE ‘CIR’ MIGHT HAVE ARRIVED: Solar wind data suggest that a co-rotating interaction region (CIR) might have hit Earth around 1200 UTC on Aug. 18th. The impact did not immediately produce a geomagnetic storm, however, minor storms may yet develop as Earth moves deeper into the CME-like sandwich of solar wind streams. HIgh-latitude sky watchers should remain alert for auroras on Aug. 19th.

Mayan Calendar Time and Synchronicity

Titan’s path ends as we ascend the trecena of Human’s Road to Destiny. Saturn moon could force us to take a hard look at emotions that have ruled us. August 18, 2025, 12 Night/AKBAL is a Day of Understanding that holds the potential for a Spiritual Breakthrough by way of a “Dark Night of the Soul.” Tomorrow, we Ascend the Road trecena on 13 Seed/KAN. Seed/KAN represents the Truth of God’s Intention that was written in the Seed of a New Life that ascended at the end of the last Tzolk’in round,  May 7, 2025, 13 Sun/AHAU. The Year 1 Wind/IK began March 30, 2025, with the Power to change the landscape of our Life, and to fulfill the Word of God’s Creation. 1 Wind/IK is Destiny Kin 222, a symbol of the Power to manifest a Creation in Divine Trinity with the One Above.

Saturn’s conjunction with Neptune is also a rare event, given the length of their orbital paths. This YouTube podcast notes the major geopolitical and economic events that have coincided with this 36 year occurrence. For example, 1989 saw the fall of the Berlin Wall, and before that in 1953 marked the death of Stalin, the end of the Korean War, and the 1953 Iranian coup d’état that ousted Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh and restored the Shah to power. 1953 was also the year of Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. THIS year saw the coronation of a Pope Leo XIV, major changes in USA government, and a global competition to conquer new frontiers in space with SpaceX and China initiatives underway to launch mega-constellations of satellites. It’s a good time to step back to take in the big picture and consider what it means in terms of changes in the future.

We may be feeling the effects in our emotional body and in our Spirit. The CIR could deliver waves of exhaustion. At least we were prepared for it by the recent scientific news of the impact that geomagnetic storms have on the Human heart, as increased stress and higher blood pressure. Have you experienced waves good feelings overcome by unexpected spells of total exhaustion? Perhaps it’s a Spiritual Battle we can’t see. The guidance for this Time is Vigilant prayers and a dedicated daily spiritual practice to Remember who Rules the Universe.

It’s an important Time to call upon the King of the Universe and to pray for one another. (That’s how Job overcame his trials to step into a new life.) If we’re tired, imagine how tired the evil forces may be, who don’t have God on their side.

12 Night/AKBAL (Cherokee, Hearth/O’YA) – Day 12  of 13 of the 1 Road/EB Trecena

Descriptions by Ian Xel Lungold, 12 Sun/AHAU, who’s wisdom and Tzolk’in calculator is preserved on MayanMajix.com

Galactic Tone 12: Understanding. This number’s energy is a gift of great capability of retrospection. It is this ability that allows Twelve to connect disassociated parts into a (new) functioning whole. The energy of Twelve is that which presents a new piece of understood information or accumulated experience to be applied.

Night/Akbal: Bringers of the Dawn. Dreamers who bring the new sun to clarify and illuminate the road of life. Thus the insecurities and doubts born of darkness of the sub-conscious mind are dispelled. These persons travel the Void… a place where nothing yet exists but all potential dwells, the womb of creation. From this void, Night persons bring forth new solutions and artistic inspiration. Night’s voyages of dreams build confidence and happiness with a sense of well being. If night does not bravely journey into the void they may find themselves wandering the darkness of self doubt and insecurity.

A GOOD DAY TO: Spend some Time contemplating the Stars.

Cherokee, Hearth/O’YA: Hearth’s symbol is the fire pit in the Center, velvet black as the night. The triangle in Orion. The M42 nebula (home of the Central race from the WingMakers) in the center of the triangle of Orion is the fire in the Hearth, also matching the Mayan. The Hearth is the Torchbearer who holds the light and warmth throughout the night. Belief is so strong that the surrounding elements become entrained to their rhythm and all resistance falls away. With respect and honor of intuition combined with knowledge this energy creates the magic of the center in this dimension.
