Human’s Fascination with Fear and Death

Death is a fascinating topic. By Human Nature we’re curious about the Unknown. Fascination is a state of being greatly interested in or delighted by something that has the power to attract and hold your attention. Adam and Eve were cast out of the Garden when an evil serpent used curiosity and fascination with a promise to know everything God knows.

Definition: Fascination
(noun, ie. a person, place or thing)
The state of being intensely interested (as by awe or terror)
Synonyms: captivation. enchantment, spell, trance.

Not everything is worthy of knowing. Adam and Even only knew the Light, before. After the apple, they knew the Truth of evil and the consequences of Death to their Heaven on Earth.

Nearly everyone I knew growing up celebrated Halloween. I used to think that Christians who characterized the practice as evil were “sticks in the mud.” I’ll remember 2025 as the year I lost my fascination.

 

In the USA a large majority of Americans celebrate Halloween. A 2023 study estimated participation rates of 73%. (Source: “More Americans Fall Under Halloween’s Spell” US News and World Report, Oct. 27, 2023) “The amount of money spent on Halloween candy this year is expected to reach $3.6 billion, up from $3.1 billion last year, according to a survey by the National Retail Federation.” It’s not a global holiday. Is Halloween “a thing” in your Time and Place?

To celebrate children of all ages dressed up as ghouls, monsters, witches and ghosts. In more recent days, girls dress up as miniature princesses. Few dress up as children. I remember Halloween parties for grownups as an opportunity to dress in a provocative costume that would be beyond the norms of everyday. When I was a child we were set free to roam unchaperoned through “smalltown” Kansas. That ended when treats were tainted with drugs and razor blades were buried in apples. One of the popular games at Halloween parties was bobbing for apples, a death-defying challenge of capturing a floating apple that requires the player to stick their face or head underwater.

Children come home with a cache of candy, insuring days of sugar overload. In recent years, I countered that by handing out “more healthy” treats of snack crackers and chips. No matter what the “treat” may be, the offering is given under the auspices of the powers of darkness.

5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

There are many “harmless” things we do without even considering there’s anything wrong. The only way to “know better” is to track our own thoughts and the Intentions to be popular in the world.

In the Year of Jubilee, a common hope of Christians is that this could be the Year of the “Day of the Lord.” One of the “blessings” of persecution is that you can “give up the ghost” of popularity.

Matthew 24 NIV – The Destruction of the Temple and Signs of the End Times
24 Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. 2 “Do you see all these things?” he asked. “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.”
3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.
9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Jesus instructed the disciples to keep their lamps shining brightly in anticipation of the Master’s return. On behalf of the whole, I pray the Day of the Lord doesn’t come on Halloween.

StarWalk.com features the “heavenly Signs above” that will appear this Halloween. The Moon will appear to be Full a few days ahead of the Full Beaver Moon Supermoon on November 5. Beavers building their homes are easy targets in the Light of the Full Moon. Their lives are sacrificed for their fur, at the expense of their families and homes — a blood sacrifice to support Human life through Winter. “On October 31, the Moon will be in its waxing gibbous phase, a little more than half-lit.” (Source: StarWalk.com, “Stargazing Under the Halloween Night Sky: Uncover Spooky Celestial Wonders”) I am offended by their featured image of the Sun. 

Other fascinating Signs are scheduled to appear, including:

• Halloween Comet Lemon – From October 31 to November 1, Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) reaches its peak brightness! The comet is visiting us from the distant edges of our Solar System – a truly otherworldly sight.
• Halloween Meteor Showers – Taurids & Orionids – At the end of October, two spectacular meteor showers occur. The Orionids have already peaked on October 21, but will remain active until November 7. They are known for their fast-moving meteors that often leave glowing trails across the sky. Look for the bright “hunter’s arrows” streaking across the sky. The Taurids are usually a less active meteor shower, but they’re famous for their sudden outbursts and for producing bright bolides known as “Halloween fireballs.” This meteor shower has two branches: the Northern and Southern Taurids. The Southern Taurids reach an increased activity on October 12-13, while the main peak is on November 4-5. The Northern Taurids peak on November 11-12.
• The Watching Giants of Halloween Night, Jupiter & Saturn
  
  Two bright giants, Jupiter and Saturn, are keeping an eye on you this Halloween night – but don’t worry, they’re far too distant to be dangerous. On Halloween night, Jupiter and Saturn will be visible on opposite sides of the sky. Jupiter will be in Aquarius on the west-southwestern horizon, and Saturn will be in Gemini on the east-northeastern horizon.
• Betelgeuse – Don’t say this star’s name three times… or dare you? Tim Burton’s horror-comedy character is directly inspired by this red supergiant star, Betelgeuse. Aside from its name, the star fascinates stargazers because it’s destined to go supernova – possibly in our lifetime.
• Algol, the Demon Star in the Constellation of Perseus
  
  The star’s name Algol comes from the Arabic “Al-Ghul,” which means ghoul. In Greek tradition, the constellation Perseus was once known as Perseus and Medusa’s Head, with Algol representing part of Medusa’s head, earning the title “the first star of the Gorgon”. In Hebrew folklore, Algol was called “Satan’s Head”, while in the 16th century, it was known as “the Spectre’s Head” in Latin.

StarWalk Halloween night sky: bottom line
The Halloween night sky holds countless cosmic treats, from twinkling stars to eerie nebulae. Whether you’re a seasoned astronomer or a curious beginner, there’s something up there to captivate you.

Halloween would be a perfect night at home with family. I have a notion that the Hour and the Day won’t come during Sunday church service, but when we least expect it. We will be judged fairly, as we really are.

We’ve been called to Vigilant Consciousness under an Intention to Live with all our Heart. I want to spend October 31, waiting in anticipation of All Saints Day, Saturday, November 1, 2025. The only Spirits I want to see are the Celestial Beings that guide us through the darkness to the Light beyond the stars.  They will be the watchers, like Jupiter and Saturn – the planet of Good Luck, and the Taskmaster Planet who lays down the Laws of Heaven.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for watching over us and for your Divine Provision for all our Human limitations. Thank you for All the Saints who ascended by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit of your Only Son. Thank you for the Offering of Salvation. Thank you for conquering Death so we can Live Forever and See Your Face. 

Have Mercy on us all. We don’t have any idea what we’re doing. Only You can make us worthy for the Day when Christ returns to gather Souls to Heaven.

I Love You. Thank you. As you have spoken, I belong to you and you belong to me.
