Megaconstellations: From 6,800 to 82,000 Satellites

Those who control Global Communication systems hold the power to interrupt service as well as surveil. Astronomers are concerned about space junk and light pollution. The “Thousand Sails” satellite reflects considerably more light than the Starlink satellites. Though, Starlink’s current satellite weighs 1,760 lbs (800 kilograms), 3 times more than the previous model. About 50 in orbit are no longer in service.
