SURPRISE GEOMAGNETIC STORM: An unexpected CME hit Earth’s magnetic field on Sept. 12th (1237 UT), sparking a G2-class geomagnetic storm and bright auroras around the Arctic Circle. Skies over Iceland erupted in swirls of red and green light.

“It was a wonderful night with more Northern Lights than I expected,” says photographer Jónína Óskarsdóttir, who needed only a 5-second exposure to fill her camera’s frame with uninterrupted color.

Hours later, the storm was subsiding when night fell over North America. Dan Bush in Albany, Missouri, photographed the faint red afterglow:

“The display was brief, but detectable by my camera,” says Bush. “Our latitude here is +40.2N.”

Where did the CME come from? It is probably one of many CMEs that left the sun on Sept. 8th.

COMET NISHIMURA IS NEARING THE SUN: Sundiving Comet Nishimura (C/2023 P1) is now deep inside the orbit of Mercury. This morning, when Mike Olason of Tucson, Arizona, tried to photograph the comet, he could barely see it through the glare:

“The comet appeared above the Catalina Mountains on Sept. 11th at 1220UT (520AM) in bright orange twilight skies,” says Olason. “The comet’s tail was not visible. The comet may not be visible at all tomorrow morning as it rises above the Catalina Mountains 15 minutes later at 535AM in very bright twilight.”

Comet Nishimura will make a 0.22 AU close approach to the sun on Sept. 17th. At that time it will experience maximum solar heat, both evaporating and brightening furiously as it executes a hairpin turn around the sun. What will emerge from the glare next week? Stay tuned!

A DAY OF UNEXPECTED NEWS FORECAST ON THE MAYAN CALENDAR

Astronomers have been awaiting the results of the event, since Comet Nishimura has never been seen before. “It came out of nowhere” on an unknown orbit from far away. They’ve reported that it could create a major event when it slingshots away from the Sun, or it could end in a fizzle. The Comet has all eyes trained to see what happens!

The Mayan calendars always amaze me, when a current event appears to line up with their forecast of Time, recorded a thousand years ago. Today is 9 Flint/ETZNAB, a day forecast for the Unexpected from something we already knew.

9 Flint/ETZNAB is the Time ordered to Know the Unseen and Unexpected Truth that’s been hidden beyond the veil. The Truth always calls for a Sacrifice of the Heart. Number 9 is a symbol of a “whole investment in the lower place” that manifests the Truth of the 10, the One in the “higher place.”

You’ve likely seen his famous work of art, the “Flammarion engraving”, 1888. I’ve been trying to figure out where this image came from. I was surprised to learn it was created by a famous astronomer! And surprised to find out his Mayan birthday during the 1 Dog/OC trecena.

Galactic Tone 9: Patience. The energy of Nine is one of getting a better perspective of the bigger picture. With the energy of Nine, plans or patterns begin to come to completion.
