9 Eagle/MEN – Spirit Walk

Greetings Kin,

9 Eagle/MEN

9 Eagle/MEN

It’s my Mayan Birthday, so I better be able to describe the energies of 9 Eagle/MEN! Each Tone offers an intention of “doing” and each Day Sign offers a perspective we can adopt for the day to draw inspiration from outside of ourselves.

Eagle/MEN brings the perspective of serving in the role of intermediary of messages from a higher source. The intention of Tone 9 is for us to seek the deeper meaning of what we know in light of the big picture.

I see how this role has played out in my life. The majority of my work life has been spent interpreting regulations and then writing them in plain English for others. It required that I look at a rule and imagine how it would impact operations in the day-to-day, integrating it into a bigger picture. That’s how these daily posts are written.

This is what is being asked of You today. You are challenged to look for a deeper meaning from insight you have been given. There is something more to know by looking deeper into how a new understanding might play out in your personal experience.

9 Eagle/MEN (Eagle/UWO’HATLI)

Galactic Tone 9: Patience. The energy of Nine is one of the getting a better perspective of the bigger picture. With the energy of Nine plans or patterns begin to come to completion. Nine requires patience and perseverance that is found in the bigger picture, otherwise there is great suffering from the lack of insight. The completion of cycles of action is all-important to Nine.

Eagle/MEN: Intermediary between Heaven and Earth. Due to the Eagles superior point of view and keen intelligence, they achieve material abundance and good fortune. A messenger gifted with patience and a deep sense of value, Eagle brings hope and trust on the wings of Spirit. Eagle persons are very detail oriented and technically inclined. Compassionate service to others sustains prosperity for Eagle personas as the flapping of wings would sustain their bird brothers. If Eagle becomes viciously competitive or possessive, greed and jealousy cause a fall from the heights. Eagles, being blessed with freedom of movement, should be aware of escapism. Eagles may be tempted to just fly away from troubles by using indulgences.

Cherokee, Eagle/UWO’HATLI: Eagle’s symbol is Mars the Spirit Warrior. He is a minion of Grandfather Moon. Eagles were the warrior society, the braves the protectors of the nation. Women were included. There was no discrimination which is reflected in the language: third person singular is divided into animate, human and animate, not human instead of he and she. The energy of high hopes and anticipations, dreams and visions, cosmic consciousness and commitment. On earth, a provider of excellence, leader, husbandry, care-taking of others, financial security and inheritance.

Spirit Walk: Day 9

Each of the 13-days of this trecena is overseen by the purpose of Deer/MANIK (the first Day Sign of this trecena). Deer/MANIK is the sign of the Maya Priest, so this cycle is all about seeing ourselves as agents of God and conforming our outer walk to reflect our Spirit’s intention.

Eagle/MEN asks us to look at our own Divine Inspiration in a deeper way and then reflect that to others. Tone 9 calls for our patience to look at the big picture.

I’m drawn to consider where I feel the most resistant to share God’s Love. Like Eagle, my downfall is a desire to fly away when I feel the challenge is too great. We only have to look deeper to find our staying-power.

Yesterday, thinking about Jaguar/IX being the keeper of all the prayers, it meant my prayers were being guarded and protected. Looking deeper, I thought “who’s prayers were worthy to be forgotten?” We all cry out with our own prayers and each prayer is a Holy correspondence that is never deleted or forgotten. The deeper Truth revealed was that we are all united through our prayers as the beloved of God.

To all my relations, may you be carried away with me on the wings of 9 Eagle/MEN. This is your day to see something you know in a deeper way that will “transform” (Blue Day Sign) the way it plays out in your day-to-day (Eagle’s direction is West – our daily walk).

in lak’ech, i am another you

Jaguar Woman, 9 Eagle/MEN

P.S. Thank you. Your showing up is an awesome Birthday Gift.

Do you see any synchronicity in your own Day Sign?

The Maya included the Day Sign in their process of naming children, so that the community could honor and acknowledge the unique gifts they would bring. (There are calculators linked on the Tzolk’in page to find your own Mayan Day Sign.)

  1. Happy Mayan Birthday Debra! 🙂 Thank you – I learned something today and this is very useful: “Each Tone (number) offers an intention of “doing” and each Day Sign (glyph/archetype) offers a perspective we can adopt for the day to draw inspiration from outside of ourselves.”

I think it is great that the tones and day signs have intentions (this also matches with Jungian psychology – Carl Jung believed that all archetypes in the psyche have intentions… but Jung drew a lot from ancient cosmology and belief systems – and most likely also cosmology), because it shows the purpose of the energies and allows us to understand how to work with them.

Thank you for helping us integrate this understanding into the bigger picture of following the calendar!

I find Eagle to be very clear thinking days for me – good days for writing! And Tone 9 is the perfect compliment (or vice versa!). I completed a piece of writing this morning in 1 hour, which I have not been able to put together properly for days! 🙂

    • Hi Jacques, Thanks for coming to my birthday party. 🙂 I’m glad 9 Eagle helped you with your writing. I’ll be looking forward to reading it! My hardest days for writing are ALWAYS on Tones 1 and 2. Also, is there a book on Jung you’d recommend? It’s been decades since I read anything of his and I would be interested in learning more about what he has to say about archetypes. I think there’s a lot there to explore.

I’m glad you found the thoughts on Tones/Day Signs as intentions and perspectives helpful. I don’t remember where I saw it explained that way, but it has helped shed light for me.

Thanks again for the birthday wishes. 🙂

      • Yes, I find tones 1 and 2 difficult too and I just give up and wait for 4 or 5 onwards, but the peaks are the best (7, 8, 9), especially if they fall on “perspective (inducing) archetypes / day signs.

I could recommend: “Jung – A very Short Introduction” by Anthony Stevens. His explanation of Jungian archetypes is very clear and well summarised. This is a great little book at 165 pages it’s an excellent (short and concise) overview of Jung’s work – great for revision! 🙂 .
