MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
The leader of this 13-day cycle, Wisdom/CIB, is a Day Sign of the South, the direction which represents our relationships with one another and with the Natural World. Our new opportunity for evolution brings energy to transform our relationships so we may walk a path of harmony and balance. At Tone 2 we are called to reflect on a new inspiration or idea that could be the focus and sacred intention for growth during this trecena.
As we prepare to receive a new understanding of forgiveness, we might consider the people and situations in our lives we find most difficult. Under more thorough inspection, we’ll find the root of our problem lies in something we’ve held against ourselves. They are reflections of our shadow.
GREEN DAY: 2 Earth/CABAN (Kin 197) is Portal Day when our Powers of Perception may be magnified. CABAN brings all the power of the dynamic forces of nature.
Tone 2 of duality is about our assessment of good/bad, dark/light, and right/wrong. We are asked to look at an idea from both perspectives. We are given Magnified Powers of Reflection.
We can learn something from the way we arrive at our own assessments. The voices that say, “I can’t” or “won’t” aren’t founded in reality. If we engage our Power of Reason, we can see them for the real illusions they are. Every life presents its own challenges. When we know where they come from we are released from our emotional responses.
I have a an issue of unforgiveness. I’ve been praying for this person for years and still haven’t gotten past my gut emotional response. The moment I was inspired to consider this as my intention, I felt a split second of freedom. We forget that forgiveness is a gift we give ourselves.
I know my feelings of self doubt are hidden behind old wounds that I might resist looking at myself. We may have long-held assumptions of how we are to blame, when the blame is only a fabrication of our own duality. Every experience can be transformed to bring us to the Light. All is Very Good.
Earth has the power to make all things new. It’s tradition to bury objects with the intention of them being transformed into something new. We might bury a rock that holds our sacred intention to lay down something we are carrying so it can be changed into something new.
To all my relations, we are brought near to the Ancient Wisdom Keepers who hold the Knowledge of All Time. They know the Forces of Nature and they know the True Power we Hold. They also know the Perfect Questions and Prayers. May we Acknowledge the Truth of the Power they bring as an Act of Respect and Humility. May we not rush forward with our own supplications, but surrender to the question, “What would You have me know?”

THE TRECENA OF WISDOM/CIB
2 Earth/CABAN (Cherokee, Heron/GUWI’SGUWI)
Galactic Tone 2: Mysterious as the question ‘to be or not to be?” Two is the recognition of the separation of self from all else and the desire to be rejoined. Walking a balance while making choices of all kinds, light/dark, male/female, good/bad, Yin/Yang, is the energy of this number. Experiencing the differences between one and another is the use and purpose of this number.
Earth/Caban: Earth/Caban: Keeper of the garden of Earth. Profound synchronistic connections to Earth’s natural cycles and energies provide power of creations and memories of ancient wisdom. Earth persons help dispel bad intentions, habits and ideas. This makes them very good counselors and masters of all arts. Studious and intelligent, Earth persons endeavor to bring a flow of natural order to all aspects of life. Being connected to the dynamic forces of nature, Earth persons need much liberty to facilitate their expression of migration or the sending of long distance communications such as the whales, elephants, birds and many other creatures. Sometimes Earth’s delicate sensitivities are upset resulting in quakes of emotion even the display of volcanic temper.
Cherokee, Heron/GUWI’SGUWI: Sign of movement, of perpetual motion, recycling, regeneration; environmentalists fighting for the underdog. Heron is mentally alert, rational, yet opinionated; has a great faith in people and in the divine plan, holding the magic of ministry, medicine, marketing and matchmaking; healing abilities, especially with crystals; negotiation and mediation energy. Heron is symbolized by Deneb, located in the Northern Cross beside the Milky Way. “The Northern Cross is the Tree of Life, Beside the Milky Way River & Perched atop is Guwi’ sguwi, the Cherokee Heron Spirit Bird, comparable to the Egyptian Phoenix. One Myth has it that a Beautiful Young Maiden (the Heron Spirit Bird) fell from the Tree of Life in the Sky Vault, & Found no Place to Land on the Primordial Sea. Turtle came to the Surface of the Water & gave her a Place to Land. She nested & Laid her Cosmic Egg, From which came all Life on Earth.” (Cherokee Astrology: Animal, Medicine in the Stars, Raven Hail)
