MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
Earth/CABAN brings us into Oneness with the Forces of Nature. We are able to see our connection in the continuing flow of life, through personal, planetary, and universal cycles of life, death and regeneration. Peak Tone 9 asks for our Patience and asks us to look at the bigger picture to establish meaning through our experience.
The Cherokee sign of the Heron symbolizes our perpetual movement in our process of change. We are in a constant state of change, transformed by every experience.
This is our natural State of Being. Earth/CABAN draws us to look at our own change over time. We haven’t stayed the same. If we look to our own history, we can see troubles that seemed too big to overcome are now resolved in the memories of our past. They may even appear as small accomplishments to us now. CABAN is a symbol of the Knowledge we gain through our movement and experience. This is a good day to seek wise counsel and to draw new wisdom from our intellect.
Whatever challenges we face, follow a cycle through a beginning, a middle, and an end. If we are past the beginning, we have made progress in moving toward a resolution. Tone 9 encourages us to keep going and to see our progress is supported beyond our own effort.
Our struggle is a result of pushing away the experiences right in front of us. We avoid, procrastinate, or attempt some other means of escape from the things appearing bigger than they are. Our way through will be found by staying with the experience and being present with ourselves as we walk through it. We only have to apply enough effort to engage the energy of momentum and the perpetual movement around us will naturally carry us on.
Tone 9 gives us the perseverance and patience to look again. We can find new value in our own process of change. As we release ourselves to Divine Will, new solutions can appear and outcomes we never considered can become new possibilities. There are many ways to accomplish the same thing.
We can also be changed in the midst of our situation. What seemed impossible for us to carry yesterday can seem lighter from our growth today. As we realize new strength, the thing we might have pushed away could even become the source of a crowning achievement… the very thing that could lead us to something we would Choose. Nothing stays the same.
To all my relations, may we remember the Truth that we are Loved and Cared For by a power greater than ourselves. May we let go of our expectations and the fear that we are alone in our power to affect change. May we look to the Natural world where we can see the Truth that everything follows a natural cycle of movement to a resolution. May we Willingly Offer Ourselves to be One with the Process guided by The Creator who will reveal a Higher Meaning and Purpose.

THE TRECENA OF OFFERING/MULUC
9 Earth/CABAN (Cherokee, Heron/GUWI’SGUWI)
Galactic Tone 9: Patience. The energy of Nine is one of the getting a better perspective of the bigger picture. With the energy of Nine, plans or patterns begin to come to completion. Nine requires patience and perseverance that is found in the bigger picture, otherwise there is great suffering from the lack of insight. The completion of cycles of action is all-important to Nine.
Earth/Caban: Earth/Caban: Keeper of the garden of Earth. Profound synchronistic connections to Earth’s natural cycles and energies provide power of creations and memories of ancient wisdom. Earth persons help dispel bad intentions, habits and ideas. This makes them very good counselors and masters of all arts. Studious and intelligent, Earth persons endeavor to bring a flow of natural order to all aspects of life. Being connected to the dynamic forces of nature, Earth persons need much liberty to facilitate their expression of migration or the sending of long distance communications such as the whales, elephants, birds and many other creatures. Sometimes Earth’s delicate sensitivities are upset resulting in quakes of emotion even the display of volcanic temper.
Cherokee, Heron/GUWI’SGUWI: Sign of movement, of perpetual motion, recycling, regeneration; environmentalists fighting for the underdog. Heron is mentally alert, rational, yet opinionated; has a great faith in people and in the divine plan, holding the magic of ministry, medicine, marketing and matchmaking; healing abilities, especially with crystals; negotiation and mediation energy. Heron is symbolized by Deneb, located in the Northern Cross beside the Milky Way. “The Northern Cross is the Tree of Life, Beside the Milky Way River & Perched atop is Guwi’ sguwi, the Cherokee Heron Spirit Bird, comparable to the Egyptian Phoenix. One Myth has it that a Beautiful Young Maiden (the Heron Spirit Bird) fell from the Tree of Life in the Sky Vault, & Found no Place to Land on the Primordial Sea. Turtle came to the Surface of the Water & gave her a Place to Land. She nested & Laid her Cosmic Egg, From which came all Life on Earth.” (Cherokee Astrology: Animal, Medicine in the Stars, Raven Hail)
