MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
13 Wind/IK completes our Mission with an Ascension of Spirit. 13 is the number that completes creation. It represents a connection made between the Above and the Below. As the number of theurgy, 13 symbolizes our ability through Ritual and Sacred Ceremony to call on a Divine Source to intervene in Human affairs.
Our ceremonies are Sacred as the expression of giving our full attention to Spirit. Holding the Truth of the Creator’s Sacred Exchange, we can Know we are Seen in Spirit.
Wind/IK is the Breath of Spirit and Breath of Life. The Creator’s voice is carried by the Wind. The T shaped portals the Maya carved in stone were made to magnify the sound of the Creator’s Voice.
On Tone 13 of Ascension we know we are changed. The Dog/OC trecena completes its mission by turning us back to our First Source of Love. Our first gift was our Divine Design. Wind/IK represents the Element of Air that is related to the mind and our intelligence. Whatever the change, we will “Know” without the need to defend. We’re Free Like the Wind.
Wind has the Power to change directions quickly. We are empowered to change our mind and head in a new direction. We can mark another milestone on our Road to Destiny, as a place where we made an important turn.
Wind/IK renews Life and Spirit through the Holy Breath that connects us all. The Cherokee Whirlwind is the helix of smoke that carries our prayers to the Great Spirit. The Whirlwind is the 13th Dancer, the leader of the 12 constellations. 13 is a symbol of the Ascended Masters and the Christ Spirit, the One that sacrifices itself to raise the Whole. As the direction North, IK connects us to the Ancient Ones and their Wisdom.
In the tradition of the Sacred Dance ceremonies, prayer ties are created weeks or months in advance. Everything that will be worn will be made by hand, and solely for the purpose. A fire and sweat lodge ceremony is held in preparation for entering the Dance Circle. Gifts of cornmeal are first offered to the altars at the 4 directions around the parameter, circling 4 times. The only sound that will be made for the next 4 days will be made through a turkey bone whistle. Dancers are smudged off again as they enter the Circle of the Dance Arbor. The drum that calls the Dance is the Heartbeat and through feet the Vibration of Love is sent through Mother Earth. The sound could start and end at anytime. In between we slept or rested in silence in the direction we chose or were placed around the circle. If we needed to leave the circle to warm at the fire or use facilities, we were covered to hold our Spiritual Energy, and smudged again when we returned.
The Elders say the Circle hovers in Spirit at the apex between the Above and the Below. This is the Sacred Ritual of our Dance of Life. Our footsteps of Consciousness are felt by the Mother. With each step on Mother Earth, we can be One in an Exchange of Unconditional Love.
The Whirlwind is the apex where Human is connected to Ascended Spirit. In our Tzolk’in Dance we spin around every four days in the rotation of the 4 directions. The trecena wave of energy carries us up and down. Our Human Spirit Dance is like a Spinning Helix between the Above and Below.
With the help of a Divine Agency, we’ve been raised up to see the potential for a Higher Climb. This is a day to celebrate the Truth of a new accomplishment that transformed our way of Being.
The Creator intended an Exchange of a Divine Love. We were Designed by Love that shared the Power to Create our own world. Dog/OC guided us to the Knowing that our Love is always returned, no matter where it is given. Through an Ascension we can Love the Creator on Earth through One Another. If we Love the Creator far and wide, we will manifest a World of Peace and Harmony.
I was once told, “we live, we die, and that’s all there is.” I wondered what that world would be like. I was Grateful to live in a bigger world, a place with Divine Mysteries and Unlimited Possibility. We are given the Free Will to choose. Today we can breath in the Love of the Creator. In the place between breaths, we can crystallize a World of Love. On the exhale, we can Breathe a new “I Am.” We can be one in Nature to Breathe our World and be touched by the Creator through the sound of the Wind.
To all my relations, may we celebrate a new way of Being. May we choose the world we Love and claim our new “I Am.” May our change be our own proof of even greater things to come. As we commit ourselves again to a new cycle of Spiritual Growth, may Unconditional Love be the Tool we carry on. May we offer Each Other the Love we Exchange with the Creator. May we Imagine our Lives as a Living Ceremony and Breathe and be Breathed by the Creator.
DREAM WATCH: The energies of AKBAL move in at sunset. AKBAL is the Day Sign that Speaks to us through our Dreams. May we go to sleep expecting a Divine Communication that invites us share a New Journey of Spirit.

A NEW COMMITMENT TO GRATITUDE:
I’m sharing a the “21-Days of Gratitude” as a perpetual Personal Ceremony through the next journey to 8 Monkey/CHUEN Maya New Year. Today is the 21st day started on 11 Jaguar/IX. Today on 5 Jaguar/IX gifts us with an Empowerment of Gratitude.
Since Jaguar/IX is the Day Sign of Gratitude, it seems right and good to begin and end every 21 days on Jaguar/IX. So, today will be both Day 21 of one ceremony, and also Day 1 of the next. (Our next 21-Days of Gratitude begins 5 Jaguar/IX (Kin 174) and ends on 12 Jaguar/IX (Kin 194), a day of Understanding the Magic of Gratitude.
21-Days of Gratitude: Day 9
I’m grateful for the Dreams that were given by IMIX – Dreams that inspire creation. I’m grateful for a world where Love is Growing in Abundance.

13 Wind/IK (Cherokee Whirlwind Agalu’ga)
Galactic Tone 13: Ascension; Thirteen assists us to go to the next higher step, propels us to try something new or to try again. Thirteen energy takes us over the next mountain just to see what is there. Thirteen carries the last success to the newest effort. Thirteen is a number associated with the Ascended Masters, creation, expansion, and manifestation.
Wind/IK: Breath of spirit, breath of life. Winds embody the power of dissemination and planting of good seeds or ideas. They are dreamers and planners with powerful imaginations. Wind persons make great orators and they spread the word of spiritual inspiration as if carried by the wind. Wind is the power behind the movement of natural cycles such as weather, erosion, and cultural change. As the wind, these persons are extremely changeable and adaptable. They may appear inconsistent and fickle to others. Wind can be destructive to self and others by put on airs. When wind strut and boast, expanding on facts and accomplishments, they are building the dark clouds of trouble that may become hurricanes.
Cherokee, Whirlwind Agalu’ga: The Cherokee symbol of the whirlwind is a double spiral helix in rising smoke and related to the direction of the North. In Cherokee, the constellations are represented by 12 birds (dancers) and the 13th bird is the Whirlwind, the lead dancer.
[Text in italics was the primary source of inspiration for my journal. These are the sources that started my journey and they are the reference for interpretation each day. By providing the original text, I hope to offer a way to see what inspired my thoughts and by including all the aspects – allow for something more to inspire you. Mayan descriptions are those written by Ian Lungold. Cherokee descriptions came from multiple sources. Links to sources and other resources of study are offered on the Daykeeper Resources Page. What do you Love today?
I love to hear from you. Share your thoughts on the day, your Day Sign, or just say Hi!
THE SACRED SMUDGE: In the chaos of change, I was called to use the Spiritual Tools of Sage, Sweetgrass, and Cedar last night. This was an ordinary part of my day that’s been lost in the shuffle of the past few weeks. It had been the first place I would go. In the presence of a helix that carries our prayers to the Creator, the time seems right to remember and employ our proven and worthy tools.
1) The first step is to honor the gifts of Mother Earth that will be offered to the fire, asking permission that they be used for a sacred purpose, offering thanks for their service with the Intention that they be used in a good and worthy way.
2) We light the sage and use it first to purify the feather, if one is used – again, asking for permission and giving thanks. In the traditional way, the rising smoke is drawn over the head 4 times. We draw smoke around our whole body, and lay a new path forward by allowing smoke to connect with the bottom of our feet. Sage is the clearing and purification of negative energies.
3) The next step is to “fill the empty places” left with Love and Sweetness symbolized by Sweetgrass. If you don’t have access to sweetgrass, you can use Cedar or another evergreen. You can also imagine the in-pouring of Light.
4) We offer our prayers and gratitude to the Creator.
The smoke offers a visual image of our connection to the Divine and leaves the fragrance of Spirit in the air. On the 13 Tone of theurgy, we can sense the Creator is Conscious of the Gift. We will have something to remember.
Sage and sweetgrass can also be used to clear the home, moving from the entry going left which will take us through the house in a clockwise direction. Another way to clear the house is through sweeping. Sweeping is a Sacred Ceremony in itself as a clearing of our new path. Any movement of Living is a Sacred Ceremony whenever we choose to call it so.
