Earth-facing Sunspot 3363
Greetings Kin,
NOAA reports an M6.8 class coronal event today. I don’t see the sunspot number in the report to see if it came from the huge Earth-facing AR3363. Yesterday’s CME came from a smaller spot on the lower right limb. CME’s are forecast with 40-45% chance of radio frequency disruptions in the higher atmosphere. Impacts are expected to reach Earth from the two from July 12-13, 2023.
I would have expected the size/shape of the sunspot to change after a projection, so we may yet to know what AR3363 might do.
Below, the update is included above the original Spaceweather post.

Sunspots: 07/11/2023 – Spaceweather.com
GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH: Minor G1-class geomagnetic storms are possible on July 13th when a CME is expected to pass close to Earth. NASA and NOAA models of the CME give different results. NASA predicts a glancing blow, NOAA a clean miss. Either way, a close encounter could disturb Earth’s magnetic field and produce high latitude auroras.
On July 10, 2023, Spaceweather.com reported that the flare erupted from Sunspot AR3358 shown on the lower right. A coronal mass ejection (CME) might be heading for Earth. It was launched into space this morning (July 10th @ 0355 UT) by an M2-class eruption in the magnetic canopy of sunspot AR3358.
According to a NASA model, the partial halo CME will sideswipe our planet on July 13th. The impact could spark G1 to G2-class geomagnetic storms. Stay tuned for updates.
Meanwhile, the huge sunspot AR 3363 is turning to it’s earth-facing position. The NOAA photo on the right shows a better image of the difference in scale from the most recent flare from AR3358.
Sunspot AR3363 is so big, the Perseverance rover saw it from Mars. Now it might be cracking up. Peter Aniol saw a fissure forming yesterday when he photographed the sunspot from Montlaux, France:
It’s unknown whether AR3363 will explode or fall apart.
VENUS AT MAXIMUM BRIGHTNESS:
When the sun goes down tonight, step outside and look west. Venus is shining like a beacon in the twilight sky–and this week it is at maximum brightness. Jeff Dai photographed the second planet from Nanjing tulou, Fujian, China:
“Venus is dazzling,” says Dai. “The planet’s week of maximum brightness coincides with another luminous event. The fireflies in southern China are very active right now. Many of them can be seen in the picture.”
According to JPL’s Horizons ephemeris, Venus peaks in brightness on July 12th and 13th at magnitude -4.71. That’s almost 200 times brighter than a 1st magnitude star. It might even be bright enough to cast shadows.
Bonus: Got a backyard telescope? Point it at Venus. Like the Moon, Venus has phases, and at the moment it is a beautifully slender crescent. Take a look!
NOAA Reports the actual trends as they compare to forecasted activity. Charts below show the trend in the number of sunspots, and the level of radio wave transmissions they produce.
Can you feel it? It’s hard to say how we’re impacted by the radio waves while the heat of the Sun is zapping our energy. The temperatures weren’t so high today in my neck of the woods, yet energies outdoors felt a little more exhausting than made sense on a short errand. (It was only a breeze day in the 90F’ range.)

Descriptions by Ian Xel Lungold (12 Sun/AHAU), wisdom preserved on MayanMajix.com
Galactic Tone 10: Manifestation. What were once intentions or ideas, hopes or fears become physically present with the energy of Ten. What is focused upon with attention and intention becomes real with Ten. Ten is a powerful energy that carries a great responsibility.
Jaguar/IX: Born with a deep love of the Mother Earth, Jaguar or shaman is directly tied to the source of all Earth magic. They possess great power of intellect and strength or character through integrity. Jaguar energy is feminine in nature and is the ruling spirit of jungles, plains, and mountains. The spirit of Jaguar inhabits the Mayan temples and is called on to assist in spiritual as well as in material ways. Jaguar is also the god/goddess of gratefulness.
A GOOD DAY TO: Commune and give thanks to Mother Nature.
Cherokee, Panther/SAHO’NI: Panther is symbolized by comets, meteors, shooting stars, fireballs, and magicians. Meteors appearing around the middle of November are Heralds of the Coming of the Light, the Cherokee New Year. Panther is the Shadow of the Sphinx, Herald of the Dawn, guardian of the night when the sun is traveling through the underworld. Panthers have unlimited imaginations, visualizations, and are spellbinding speakers. The Cherokee Totem Jaguar is the guardian of the portals to other dimensions; shamanic abilities will open; multi-dimensional magic; healer, leader, way shower energy when used for spiritual growth. Conducive to pray for grandmothers, mothers, daughters, sisters and wives day. For wisdom at 4 Balances, cunning and protection of Mother Nature. To thank the Earth for sustenance. Ix is the native cunning, enterprising, vigorous, bold and realistic.
