SPACEWEATHER: X-Class Flare and Incoming CMEs and Solar Winds

Incoming CME’s and Solar Winds

SPACEWEATHER.COM NEWS: 01/03/2025

X-CLASS SOLAR FLARE: New sunspot AR3947 erupted on Jan. 3rd (1139 UTC), producing an X1.2-class solar flare. NOAA’s GOES satellites recorded the extreme UV and X-ray flash:

Although this was a potent flare, it did not lift a significant CME out of the sun’s atmosphere. It did, however, cause a shortwave radio blackout over Africa and the South Atlantic Ocean. More X-flares may be in the offing as AR3947 turns toward Earth this weekend.

THE NEXT STORM IS COMING: NOAA forecasters have issued a G1-class geomagnetic storm watch for Jan. 4th and 5th when a CME and a stream of solar wind are expected to graze Earth’s magnetic field. This should be a relatively minor event, much less intense than the severe G4-class storm of Jan. 1st. Nevertheless, high-latitude sky watchers (especially near the Artic Circle) could get a good show if the storm materializes.

NOT ALL OF THOSE AURORAS WERE AURORAS: The realtime aurora gallery is full of photos from the Jan. 1st severe geomagnetic storm. Take a closer look. Not all of the auroras were actually auroras. Here’s an example from Tapanui, New Zealand:

“I turned around from shooting aurora to find this red arc on display,” says photographer Simon Evans. Researchers call this an “SAR arc.”

SAR arcs were discovered in 1956 at the beginning of the Space Age. Researchers didn’t know what they were and unwittingly gave them a misleading name: “Stable Auroral Red arcs” or SAR arcs.

In fact, SAR arcs are not auroras. Auroras appear when charged particles from space rain down on the atmosphere, causing it to glow. SAR arcs form differently. They are a sign of heat energy leaking into the upper atmosphere from Earth’s ring current system–a donut-shaped circuit carrying millions of amps around our planet.

On Jan. 1st, the ring current was pumped up by hours of intense geomagnetic storming, with energy dissipating downward into SAR arcs. Photographers caught their pure red glow from many locations in both Europe and North America.

Observing tip: The red color of SAR arcs is *so* pure, that many people cannot see it. The human eye is not very sensitive to its 630 nm wavelength. Cameras don’t have the same problem, though. During the next strong geomagnetic storm, point your camera (even your phone’s camera) at the sky and ‘click.’ You might catch an SAR arc.

Mayan Time

The 6th Tone represents the force of Momentum created from a rhythm and pattern of movement. Wisdom/CIB represents discernment drawn from the Highest Source of Truth. The Intention of the Time is to “go with the flow” of God’s Time for Truth to be brought to light. In the meantime, Forgiveness is the Key to the Kingdom of Divine Wisdom. “Let it be” and wait for the Truth to speak for itself.

TRECENA OF MONKEY/CHUEN: THE DAWN OF OUR CREATION

My gift for the Tzolk’in round is the “Tzolk’in Field Guide: A Daily Practice for Personal Discernment.” Volume 1 covers the first two seasons of the Tzolk’in round. The “Field Guide” is available to download from a link on the 13-day Trecena Guide Page.

Tracking your thoughts during one 13-day trecena, you will see the synchronicity of Time, and an ascension as the answer to a prayer you hold as an Intention of thought from the beginning.

The Monkey/CHUEN trecena is the beginning of Season 3, found in Volume 2.

CORE DAYS: The 7th Uinal of the Tzolk’in represent the center column of 20-days, which carry the Intention of Balancing. In the Center we are returned to Unity with the whole as our sense of duality comes into balance.  The Maya believed this to be the axis mundi – the center of the world that connects Heaven and Earth, where the four directions meet; where communication from lower realms may ascend to higher ones and blessings from higher realms may descend to lower ones and be disseminated to all. The Core Days may be experienced as a time of personal mystery as we recreate ourselves in the image of the Highest One.

6 Wisdom/CIB (Cherokee, Owl U’GUKU’) – Day 6 of 13 of the 1 Monkey/CHUEN trecena

Descriptions by Ian Xel Lungold (12 Sun/AHAU), wisdom preserved on MayanMajix.com

Galactic Tone 6: Six is responsiveness and the art of negotiation. It is the movement of volume through space that creates time. This energy in action is like the art of dance or a great athlete in motion. Six facilitates dynamic developments in all aspects of life.

Wisdom/CIB: The old ones. Wisdom of the ancients. Wisdom persons are aligned with the ancient memories that wait in the stone of temples and sacred sites all over the world. Wisdom people grow luck like a crop using a balance of prudence and tenacity. The tremendous inner strength of this sign enables silent introspection to discover areas of oneself that contain wisdom more valuable than any trove of archaeological treasure. Wisdom persons are valiant defenders of family and community. They may become hardened to life and sentiment turned cold. In these cases, they need much forgiveness for their uncaring errors. Periodically connecting with nature and or visiting sacred sites will bring great stability to wisdom persons.

A GOOD DAY TO: Sit on a rock.

Cherokee, Owl U’GUKU’: Symbol is the Owl is Arcturus, the brightest Star in the Constellation Bootes. The Cherokee Bear constellation (Ursa Major) includes the Big Dipper plus four stars in Bootes.  Owl is a hunter, who stands for the wisdom and ability of all great hunters, the cunning of a fox, the tenacity of a bulldog and strength of a bear. Energy for deep thinkers, strong-willed, rigid convictions, bold and authoritative. Owl is the Mystic Ferryman who guides Earthlings on the return path to the stars holding the torch aloft.
