Empowerment: Integrity in the Service of Love (3 Deer/MANIK)

The Wisdom of Vigilant Discernment

The Deer is a symbol of a Guardian and Protector for the Safety, Harmony, and Equity of the whole. In the Mayan tradition it represents the Mission of the Mayan priest who carries out a dedicated daily practice, counting the Days, and performing the Sacred Ceremonies that are ordered for the Time. The Mayan priest is not a teacher, per se, but a counselor who offers prayer on behalf of the whole.

To carry out the task requires Wisdom and the Vigilance of Divine Discernment to protect the flock from those who would take advantage of the Offering of Compassionate Love and Understanding. We are ordered to Forgive. Though, forgiveness doesn’t mean we open the door to those that pose a threat to our well-being. It takes Vigilance to Discern Intentions of good and evil.

3 Deer / MANIK

Greetings Beloved Kin,

We are called into Service by the Quickening of Spirit. Tone 3 is God’s Answer to our Divine Mission in life. As Christ was the Savior, so are we moved by Divine Trinity to follow his dedicated path to an altar every day.

The glyph illustrates a Hand (another name for MANIK) that grasps a thread of plasma. By our own Intention to serve the Highest Purpose our circuits are welded to the Source of Light.

There are Human limitations that prevent us from standing in the Integrity of the Truth. Every Human longs to be Seen, Acknowledged and Understood, especially when our Highest Intention is to Love one another.

To walk in integrity we must sacrifice the desires of our Ego. At an altar we remember the Only One who is always faithful and true. Dwelling in the presence of God’s Light, we can let go of the world’s judgement. Only in a state of Peace can we “see clearly” to be an example of the Strength and Authority of God’s Love.

Serpent/CHICCHAN is a Force that ignites our Senses. Sometimes we have to rely on a Feeling, beyond all worldly evidence  to make Wise Choices. The world is an illusion, a reality based on the Truth that others are willing to reveal.

People wonder how some keep going back to a relationship that has a history of abuse. It’s often the desire for Understanding, and one more opportunity for our Love to be seen as a blessing.

An article on “hoovering” explains how and why Humans return to the “scene of the crime.” We can get sucked in by declarations of love, promises to change, and pleas for forgiveness. We can also be sucked in by bullying tactics of shame and blame when we choose to walk away.

What Is Hoovering? 7 Signs and How To Handle It

Cleveland Clinic: Living Healthy Article

The Seven Signs of Hoovering Described in the Article

1. Apologizing for past wrongs and promising to change
2. Love bombing (i.e.. gifts, flattery, and words we once longed to hear)
3. Excuses to make contact (i.e.. using one reason as an opportunity to engage another)
4. Using your friends and family to get to you (i.e.. now nobody understands)
5. Gaslighting (i.e.. sarcasm, false narratives, denial, as an intention of misunderstanding)
6. Sudden ‘crises’ (i.e.. a desperate need for support)
7. Threatening or violent behavior (toward the victim, or themselves)

The Divine Resource of Compassionate Love is worth every evil strategy to someone with an Intention to take advantage. We don’t make wise choices, when we’re ruled by our emotions. When we take the Time to see it, the only thing that makes Sense is to walk away from the games of life. We can forgive and still make wise choices for our self.

It’s wiser still to look within. We relate to all these things we see in another, because we know them so well. Maybe we didn’t intend it. There’s a provision. God knows our Name when we sacrifice our Heart. It’s forgiven when we forgive, and no one else ever has to know, except for what God will command us to say. We were give the Gifts to See and Hear God’s Voice. There are never any lingering questions.

CHICCHAN is the Sense we were given to “see clearly” by Feeling the Truth. Whatever disturbs our equilibrium, cannot provide the nourishment we need to grow, whether it’s a relationship, a job, or a herd. The frustration increases with every return with an Intention to try harder. We’re more inclined to react out of our emotions. Reactions can become a “hoover” gaslight to justify negative intentions.

The Deer stands silently without defense of the Truth. Its landscape vision and the independent movement of its ears empowers it to hear trouble coming a mile away and to pinpoint the source. Discernment of the Truth lies within. Being misunderstood is a sacrifice we can make when we know God understands.

The Elders said that whenever we feel a disturbance within – that burning feeling that things aren’t right – we can draw the Sacred Breath to the place where it hurts, and ASK, “Who are you? What do you want?”

Time is a Spiritual Tool. Every Day the Truth is revealed through a different angle of Light. If something challenges you, give yourself the Time to clearly see why. There is no suffering when we turn the Reason to a Divine Cause.

Deer/MANIK offers Spiritual Tools. Whatever negative thoughts might challenge your peace of mind, write it down to see the Wisdom God shares with Time. Look at it today, see how your Feel about it tomorrow, and by the 3rd Day – see if your entire perspective on the matter has changed.

On Tone 3 we are moved by the Fire of the Holy Spirit to walk in Integrity for a Divine Cause. The difference in the trecena of Serpent/CHICCHAN is that our Senses are expanded by the Force of the Creator’s Light.

It’s an Important Day to set Intentions. Lightness and Darkness comes in waves. Blue represents the Light of Incoming Divine Inspiration. Tides are rising toward the New Moon, August 23, 2025, 6:06 UTC. This is a Black Moon (i.e. the third new moon in an astronomical season with four new moons) — and the beginning of the Full Corn Moon cycle.

September 7, 2025, will feature a Super Blood Moon, which is a total lunar eclipse that coincides with a supermoon. The Moon will appear larger and brighter than a typical full moon due to its closest approach to Earth, while the total lunar eclipse will give it a deep, crimson color as sunlight filters through Earth’s atmosphere. The technical name is a perigee syzygy (si zuh jee) or a full Moon around perigee. (Google)

Whatever Intentions we hold Before the Peak Tide will be caught in the momentum of increase. The Full Corn Moon holds an Intention for the whole field of corn that will draw Water to the fruit before an October Harvest Moon.

Don Alejandro, the high priest of the Maya and indigenous cultures, holds the Staff handed down 13 generations. We can choose One Truth we can stand on. God promised a Holy Provision for every Human limitation. Sacred objects aren’t supposed to be idols, but they can serve as Spiritual Tools to remember. A cross isn’t an idle unless the reason for wearing it is a Human adornment. As a Sacred Object we have the Sense that a cross speaks for us.

Jesus wasn’t a “bleeding heart.” He never complained about the weight of his cross. The wound to Christ’s shoulder is seldom remembered. Some believe it was the most enduring painful of all his wounds. The hunter’s myth of the Deer that disappears, is that there’s a place high on the Deer’s chest where an arrow can pass right through when it exhales. The Deer surrenders with a sigh. When we let go, God can step in. Our permission is required to sacrifice our Sacred Right of Choice.

The Elders say, “The matter is never about whether YOU can. But, Will you remember?” Vigilance and a Dedicated Daily Path is the only way to Remember.

We can set the Highest Intentions when we Feel the Truth that God will carry it to the end. God’s Will is guaranteed. Then, we can wait on God’s Light of Truth to Understand and the Truth will speak for itself.

We can set the Highest Intentions when we Feel the Truth that God will carry it to the end. God’s Will is guaranteed. Then, we can wait on God’s Light of Truth to Understand and the Truth will speak for itself. We have One sure Answer. Heave a Sigh. We don’t have to say anything. When we become really good at it, we might end up laughing. The realm of God’s Spirit is the only place where Love and Understanding are ALWAYS real. With Time the darkness becomes the reason we cling to the Light.

love, in lak’ech, i am another you

THE TRECENA OF SERPENT/CHICCHAN: AWAKENING THE GIFTS OF SPIRIT

The “Tzolk’in Field Guide” is my gift to download that includes the Count of Days with the aspects for each Destiny Kin and highlights for a personal practice with each trecena. It’s designed as a companion for daily practice.

It only takes 13 days to see how Faith is always raised to Knowing the Truth of Answered Prayers. You only have to track your thoughts. Record the matters on your mind in a journal to see how your perspective is changed by a Divine Order of Thoughts.

Visit the 13-Day Trecena Guide. to download a free copy. Volume 1 covers the first two seasons of the Tzolk’in, and Volume 2 covers the 3rd and 4th to the end of the Tzolk’in round.

Serpent/CHICCHAN is the 3nd trecena of the 2nd season of the Tzolk’in round, found in Volume 1. There’s something more to see when you discern the meaning of Time for yourself. The meaning of time is revealed by the thoughts on your mind.

NOTE: Tone 1 reflects the 1st Light of Divine Inspiration as the “legend” of this chapter of Time. If you forget where you are, return to Tone 1 to see the “First Light” of Divine Inspiration. You can use the Tzolk’in calculator to gain insight on any date in the future or the past.

3 Deer/MANIK (Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi) – Day 3 of 13 in the trecena of 1 Serpent CHICCHAN

Descriptions by Ian Xel Lungold (12 Sun/AHAU), who’s wisdom and Tzolk’in date calculator is preserved on MayanMajix.com

Galactic Tone 3: Action. Three is basic movement and communication, which begins as a vibration. Three energy is very eloquent in all types of self-expression. Communication is how Three establishes a point of agreement between any point “A” and any point “B”. Three persons are rhythmic to the core and are often restless, as motion is their nature. By working closely with the energy of Three, any person becomes more able to predict motions of all kinds.

Deer/MANIK (Hand): Deer are spirit tools. Silence itself is a spiritual experience for Deer. For Deer life is a pilgrimage. Deer are dominant persons who defend the people and will make sacrifices for others. The spirit of Deer upholds the pillars of the four directions. With the power inherent in the number four, Deer pushes away bad influences or negative energies. Skill and quality of work are very important to Deer. They are presented with tools for every task in life and it is with these that they are able to rise above limitations. Deer has a habit of keeping every tool it has ever used. This leads to clutter and indecision, loss and procrastination. When confronted with promises not kept, Deer becomes stubborn, manipulative and evasive.

A GOOD DAY TO: Be of Service to Others.

Cherokee, Deer/Ahwu’sdi: Symbolized by Constellation Galagina, the Stag, known as Taurus, the Bull. It does not include the Pleiades and Hyades clusters which in Cherokee are viewed as separate. To feed, gatherers of food and supplies, they enjoy rituals, ceremonials, feasts, the souls of hospitality, sociability. Freedom versus security issues often inspire leadership and unique solutions.  Combined with artistic and inspiring energies in harmony with lunar cycles, they nourish the clans. Totem-Deer:  A priest or shaman, a powerful person in general, to overwhelm an individual with one’s personal power, divination; inclined to become a teacher, healer, guru, civic leader, or politician.  Ability to create harmonic resonance.

[Text in italics was the primary source of inspiration for my journal. These are the sources that started my journey and they are the reference for interpretation each day. By providing the original text, I hope to offer a way to see what inspired my thoughts and by including all the aspects – allow for something more to inspire you. Mayan descriptions are those written by Ian Lungold. Cherokee descriptions came from multiple sources.
