CME IMPACT SPARKS SEVERE STORM: Arriving about 6 hours later than expected, a CME hit Earth’s magnetic field on Sept. 16th (2341 UT). The impact sparked a G4-class (Severe) geomagnetic storm with auroras sighted as far south as the Texas Panhandle. The storm has subsided, but it’s not over. Storm levels are now fluctuating between G1 (Minor) and G3 (Strong) as Earth moves through the CME’s wake.
