First Images of Auroras from X4.5 Class Solar Flare
SPACEWEATHER.COM NEWS: 09/17/2024 (Updated)
CME IMPACT SPARKS SEVERE STORM: Arriving about 6 hours later than expected, a CME hit Earth’s magnetic field on Sept. 16th (2341 UT). The impact sparked a G4-class (Severe) geomagnetic storm with auroras sighted as far south as the Texas Panhandle. The storm has subsided, but it’s not over. Storm levels are now fluctuating between G1 (Minor) and G3 (Strong) as Earth moves through the CME’s wake.
Full moonlight was supposed to spoil the show, but the auroras were bright enough to compete with the Harvest Moon. Paul Robinson sends this picture from Boulder, Colorado:
“Red rays were dimly visible to the unaided eye for about 5 minutes,” says Robinson. “I photographed them using my Samsung S24 phone in night mode.”
Photos are coming in from Europe and many US states. Browse the real time aurora gallery for the latest.

Sunspots AR3824 and AR3825 have ‘beta-gamma’ magnetic fields that harbor energy for M-class solar flares.

PARTIAL ECLIPSE OF THE HARVEST MOON: This week’s full Moon is special for several reasons. (1) It’s the Harvest Moon, the full Moon closest to the autumnal equinox. (2) It’s a perigee Moon, slightly closer to Earth than usual. And, (3), it’s going to be partially eclipsed. This animation created by reader Peter Zimnikoval shows the Moon grazing Earth’s shadow during the early UTC hours of Sept. 18th.
Mayan Time…
The Full Moon: Time to Let Go
The Harvest Moon is time for gratitude and release for the work that is “finished. Along with your prayers for the blessing you might offer to the Fire, claim a work of Spirit that is finished – work that belongs to the cycle ended by the Lunar Eclipse. Only the Wisdom of the experience is left behind at the beginning of a new cycle as the Light for the future. (Remember to “think lucky.” Boy, am I glad that’s over! Praise the Lord, Oh My Soul.)
Star/LAMAT is a “lucky day” when whatever we focus on as the object of our affection is multiplied to Abundance. LAMAT is the symbol of the Scion, represented as the 2nd brightest Star, second only to the Sun. Focusing on the Source of all things Good, our Faith can be multiplied to Abundance.

Galactic Tone 2: Mysterious as the question ‘to be or not to be?” Two is the recognition of the separation of self from all else and the desire to be rejoined. Walking a balance while making choices of all kinds, light/dark, male/female, good/bad, Yin/Yang, is the energy of this number. Experiencing the differences between one and another is the use and purpose of this number.
Star/LAMAT: Star energy is multiplication of all things to abundance. Star has been associated with the fertility of rabbits for its ability to multiply. As each sun in the sky, Star persons shine equally in all directions. This natural tendency of harmony and balance can become compulsion, motivating Star to be too agreeable and too generous, rejected gifts cause fear and resentment. When a Star believes it has been given too much, they are weakened or may even collapse. In this “Black Hole” state, Stars are prone to verbal jousting and arguing to force their point of view on everyone.
A GOOD DAY TO: Ask for Abundance in all relations.
Cherokee, Rabbit/NOQUI’SEGWA: Symbol-Venus, The Morning Star cycle of 260 days and Evening Star cycle of another 260 days, inspired the 13 numbers, 20 Day sign Sacred Calendar. Rabbit is the Trickster of Cherokee culture, matching the Coyote in other nations. The personification of Light and New Life, Sunrise, the scion of the Moon-Father of earth children, the Rabbit is fertility, be fruitful and multiply. Represents softness, gentleness and vulnerability. LAMAT– Totem Rabbit. Energies of re-birth, regeneration, ripening, harvest and abundance. This person is overflowing with love energy in all areas of life. Spiritual growth is natural and with ease due to the unconditional love energy that flows.
