3 Earth/CABAN – Power of Earth Magic

THE TRECENA OF EAGLE/MEN

3 Earth Caban (Cherokee, Heron/GUWI’SGUWI)

3 Earth/CABAN

3 Earth/CABAN

Galactic Tone 3: Action. Three is basic movement and communication, which begins as a vibration. Three energy is very eloquent in all types of self-expression. Communication is how Three establishes a point of agreement between any point “A” and any point “B”. Three persons are rhythmic to the core and are often restless, as motion is their nature. By working closely with the energy of Three, any person becomes more able to predict motions of all kinds.

Earth/Caban: Earth/Caban: Keeper of the garden of Earth. Profound synchronistic connections to Earth’s natural cycles and energies provide power of creations and memories of ancient wisdom. Earth persons help dispel bad intentions, habits and ideas. This makes them very good counselors and masters of all arts. Studious and intelligent, Earth persons endeavor to bring a flow of natural order to all aspects of life. Being connected to the dynamic forces of nature, Earth persons need much liberty to facilitate their expression of migration or the sending of long distance communications such as the whales, elephants, birds and many other creatures. Sometimes Earth’s delicate sensitivities are upset resulting in quakes of emotion even the display of volcanic temper.

Power of Earth Magic

Tone 3 is a day of action that brings eloquence to our communication. The Cherokee Day Sign for Earth/CABAN is the Heron (Guwi’sguwi), also a sign of movement and perpetual motion. As Tone 3 presents our first day of movement in the Eagle/MEN trecena, this is the day of quickening as our dream becomes a new vibration.

The higher we soar with the Eagle/MEN trecena, the more we can see the world is much bigger than we knew it before. Earth/CABAN engages us with the dynamic forces of nature.

I had the pleasure of visiting with a glass artist yesterday who told me a story about his relationship with glass. He shared a time when he was unable to bring forth his greatest inspiration. He was finding the glass unyielding to even the most simple of processes. In a moment of great frustration he called out, “WHY WON’T YOU DO WHAT I WANT YOU TO DO!?” And the glass spoke, “Because you don’t appreciate me.”

He was changed by it. He realized that in all his time working with glass, he had never really acknowledged the elements he was working with, much less considered the potential for discourse.

I thought of the powerful energies that emanate in the process of transforming earth into glass. Earth must go through the fire to become his creation. I suddenly had a new appreciation for my paints, realizing this too was earth in my hands.

We ARE alive in a living world – ALL is part and parcel of this energy in motion. And, through our vibration, we are connected to every single Thing. We are SO FAR from being alone! And, just as we yearn to be seen, so does every Thing want to be acknowledged and recognized.

To all my relations, as we reach for our highest aspiration, may we remember that no creation is possible without the Earth and all of the elements that are provided for us. May we acknowledge with our deepest gratitude every Thing that has come forward to us in this moment of time to become One with our new creation.

Galactic Tone 9: Patience. The energy of Nine is one of the getting a better perspective of the bigger picture. With the energy of Nine, plans or patterns begin to come to completion. Nine requires patience and perseverance that is found in the bigger picture, otherwise there is great suffering from the lack of insight. The completion of cycles of action is all-important to Nine.

Cherokee, Heron/GUWI’SGUWI: Sign of movement, of perpetual motion, recycling, regeneration; environmentalists fighting for the underdog. Heron is mentally alert, rational, yet opinionated; has a great faith in people and in the divine plan, holding the magic of ministry, medicine, marketing and matchmaking; healing abilities, especially with crystals; negotiation and mediation energy. Heron is symbolized by Deneb, located in the Northern Cross beside the Milky Way. “The Northern Cross is the Tree of Life, Beside the Milky Way River & Perched atop is Guwi’ sguwi, the Cherokee Heron Spirit Bird, comparable to the Egyptian Phoenix. One Myth has it that a Beautiful Young Maiden (the Heron Spirit Bird) fell from the Tree of Life in the Sky Vault, & Found no Place to Land on the Primordial Sea. Turtle came to the Surface of the Water & gave her a Place to Land. She nested & Laid her Cosmic Egg, From which came all Life on Earth.” (Cherokee Astrology: Animal, Medicine in the Stars, Raven Hail)

Daykeeper’s Journal:

Letting Go

Tone 9 is a day of peak energy in the 13-day trecena of Offering/MULUC. Muluc is a symbol for the emotions and all water – from the oceans and rivers to the water of our own tears. Muluc guides us to surrender ourselves as an offering – to let go of our control. Galactic Tone 9 presents us with the power to persevere. We are given the patience we need to see the bigger picture, and to know the Truth that we are loved and cared for by a power greater than ourselves.

Earth/CABAN connects us to the perpetual motion of every living thing. When we follow in the footsteps of Caban, we become one with the natural forces of nature. We are able to see our connection in the continuing flow of life, through personal, planetary, and universal cycles within cycles of life, death and regeneration. When we let go, we are empowered as we become one with the sacred flow of life’s perpetual movement.

To all my relations, help me to see where I am still holding on to my own way. Help me to release my attachment to how things should be, so that I may experience in full measure the peace and joy of your abiding Love.

A STORY ABOUT LETTING GO

Once there lived a village of creatures along the bottom of a great crystal river. The current of the river swept silently over them all — young and old, rich and poor, good and evil — the current going its own way, knowing only its own crystal self.

Each creature in its own manner clung tightly to the twigs and rocks of the river bottom, for clinging was their way of life, and resisting the current was what each had learned from birth.

But one creature said at last, “I am tired of clinging. Though I cannot see it with my eyes, I trust that the current knows where it is going. I shall let go, and let it take me where it will. Clinging, I shall die of boredom.”

The other creatures laughed and said, “Fool! Let go, and that current you worship will throw you tumbled and smashed against the rocks, and you will die quicker than boredom!”

But the one heeded them not, and taking a breath did let go, and at once was tumbled and smashed by the current across the rocks.

Yet in time, as the creature refused to cling again, the current lifted him free from the bottom, and he was bruised and hurt no more.

And the creatures downstream, to whom he was a stranger, cried, “See a miracle! A creature like ourselves, yet he flies! See the messiah, come to save us all!”

And the one carried in the current said, “I am no more messiah than you. The river delights to lift us free, if only we dare let go. Our true work is this voyage, this adventure.”

But they cried the more, “Savior!” all the while clinging to the rocks, and when they looked again he was gone, and they were left alone making legends of a savior.

Galactic Tone 2: Mysterious as the question ‘to be or not to be?” Two is the recognition of the separation of self from all else and the desire to be rejoined. Walking a balance while making choices of all kinds, light/dark, male/female, good/bad, Yin/Yang, is the energy of this number. Experiencing the differences between one and another is the use and purpose of this number.

Choosing our Dream

At Tone 2, we can consider the idea or intention we would give our attention to during this trecena. Wisdom/CIB guides us as the keepers of ancient wisdom. Given access to the knowledge of all time, where would you seek to find greater understanding? Would you even know what to ask? Our best question may be “what would YOU have me know?”

Earth/CABAN brings all the power of the dynamic forces of nature. Earth has the power to make all things new. CIB knows the changes that would best serve us, what we are capable of, and what we are ready to learn. As we are prepared to make choices, help us to be open to the new possibilities we may yet have the vision to see.

As student, our job is to be present and teachable.

To all my relations, from the womb of all creation may we be born as something new. May I be open to a new understanding so that I may seek my highest calling.
