POLAR STRATOSPHERIC CLOUD ALERT: The Arctic Circle could soon be filled with Type II (Nacreous clouds, sometimes called mother-of-pearl clouds) Polar Stratospheric Clouds (PSCs)–widely regarded as the most beautiful clouds on Earth. This forecast is based on NASA’s satellite-based MERRA2 climate model, which shows stratospheric temperatures dropping to record low values in the days ahead. Note the red arrow:
