UNEXPECTED SATELLITE EXPLOSION: A Cold War spy satellite just broke apart in Earth orbit, and no one knows why.

The US Space Force detected the breakup on Sept. 13th when USA 32 unexpectedly shed a cloud of debris 775 km above Earth. The number of fragments is still unknown; Space-Track, the Space Force’s public catalog, has not yet released a count.

Confession brings to mind the sins we’ve hidden or covered up. Skeletons in the closet are still in active operation in the discernment of who we are. Shame becomes an unseen stronghold buried in the shadows of our mind.

The Jewish tradition of Teshuvah is often mistranslated as “repentance.”  Teshuvah (תשובה) means turning yourself around. Recovering. Realigning. Getting back to who you truly are, to your inner soul, to the purpose for which you were sent to this world. And yet higher.

7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

A personal reckoning can make us vulnerable to spiritual warfare. We can get stuck on the sin of our greatest shame. It vexes our Spirit to remember. We must remember, but we never have to “follow that road” in the shame of re-experiencing our personal trauma.

Jesus died for us, so that a New Spirit of purity can be the “I Am” that carries on. The evil one can steal our joy, but not our Salvation. The question that matters is, “Who am I now?”
