MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
Our Quest of Love led by Dog/OC offered a brand new beginning. Our first step was to be inspired by a New Dream that would chart a course of creation for this trecena. On Tone 2 we are engaged by our Dream to consider all it could be. Presenting the Intention of Duality, we are drawn to a process of imagining how our “own version” of a Dream might take form. We look at it from alternative perspectives, the pros and cons, the dark and the light, and the potential for a Dream to be or not to be.
Each trecena offers us a time for every purpose. And, each trecena begins with a process of investing ourselves in a purpose and a direction. We began in Unity with the Creator, and under Tone 2, we are separated by the strengths, weakness, and potential we see in our Self. This is the day we are presented with the Sacred Choice of our own Free Will.
Monkey/CHUEN is the weaver of time and the Master of all Arts. CHUEN brings the talent for close-up inspection and objectivity. Monkey’s magic is its sense of Curiosity and the Joy of each new Experience. Monkey exists in a world of imagination, and like any artist, is capable to draw an Inspiration from the realm of Spirit to be Manifested into a Physical Expression that can be seen and shared by others. The Monkey has the power to carry us through time and can lead us on a journey of imagination to Experience our Dream as if it is already created.
The Day Signs of Dog/OC and Monkey/CHUEN are said to share an affinity. They are best friends positioned together in the Center of the Tzolk’in, and together they represent our Highest Purposes for Being. Dog brings the Intention to Love, and Monkey offers a way to Express our Love in the World.
Together they remind us that the fundamental Power for Creation is the Joy we would experience by its manifestation. Monkey reminds us that every work of art is first born in the imagination. Our ability to bring it into a physical form, rests in our Passion to Imagine it in living color.
As an artist, another talent of Monkey is to enhance Beauty as it goes along. Monkey revels in unexpected experiences. As it discovers an unexpected stroke of beauty, it would highlight its color without regard to how it could change the whole picture.
The magic of the Tzolk’in’s Sacred Cycle of Creation is that when we apply an Intention, we will Always Manifest a Higher Consciousness of our Dream. Dreams that can’t be completed in 13-days, are kept on course by the Wisdom we would gain from the Experience of Reaching for them. New direction and inspiration is acquired as we go along.
By its curious nature, Monkey can change direction when something new captures its attention. We can learn that we are not bound by any Dream, when we discover something more beautiful. Monkey would see no less Beauty in the Dream that led it there.
As the two Day Signs work together to set the course of a new journey, they present two fundamental questions that would determine a Dream’s possibility To Be: 1) Do we Love it?; and, 2) Do we Love it Enough to Dream about it? On a Quest of Love, we will learn how Love is our Power to manifest a Dream.
Tones 1 and 2 are days of Inner Work. They are days that can present a feeling of urgency to get started. Yet their Intention is to invest all our energy in Dreaming. We are guided to Honor a Time meant for our consideration through an accumulation of ideas. By doing so, we can acquire a Clearer Vision of the Dream we would bring to Life.
To all my relations, may we inspect the Powers of Creation we were given by the Creator, and the Divine Justice that we are most capable to create the things we Truly Love. Just as the Creator imagined a World of Love, we were given a Way to share in the Joy of its Creation. As we reflect on the changes we would manifest in our world, may we consider the differences between the energy of tearing something down, and building something new. One is born of Hate and the other is Born of Love. Expanding Love in the World is the natural by-product of Creating something we Love. May we find Joy in creations big or small. As long as our Path is a Quest of Love, it will either guide us in a same direction, or lead us to something even more beautiful.
in lak’ech, I am another you

2 Monkey Chuen (Cherokee, Raccoon/KVH’LI )
Galactic Tone 2: Duality; Mysterious as the question “to be or not to be?” Two is the recognition of the separation of self from all else and the desire to be rejoined. Walking a balance while making choices of all kinds, light/dark, male/female, good/bad, Yin/Yang, is the energy of this number. Experiencing the differences between one and another is the use and purpose of this number.
Monkey/CHUEN: Monkey is known to the May as the Weaver or Weaver of Time. Monkey takes ideas as threads of vines and weaves them into the fabric of our reality. New patterns or inventions are also woven into our lives by Monkey. Amiable, intelligent, generous and jack of all trades, Monkey’s innocent curiosity leads to artistic expression and constructive solutions. It is also considered to be one of the most fortunate and lucky day signs.
Cherokee, Raccoon/KVH’LI: The Racoon Symbol is Algol, a star in Perseus. Restless energy yearning for long-lost love. Algol was named DEMON STAR or MISCHIEVOUS ONE by the Ancients because it winks and fades at times. Raccoons are full of friendly mischief, eager to swap kisses for candy. Magnetic leaders, full of humor and gaiety. Favorite food is corn, the mainstay of the Cherokee. Very artistic while being the “masked bandit” who steals your heart.
