MAYAN CALENDAR DAYKEEPER’S JOURNAL
One Tone 7 we have completed a new climb of Spiritual Growth to arrive at a Balancing Point at the top of the pyramid. 7 is the Tone of Reflection, offering the insight to look back at our experiences and see something new from a Higher Perspective with a 360 view.
Flint/ETZNAB is a Day Sign of a personal revelation of Truth. Related to the reflection of an Obsidian Mirror, Flint makes clear all that is, and all that is not. Flint is said to deliver news like a Divine Spark of Intelligence. Flint is capable to make something crystal clear, so that what has been hidden or concealed can be brought to light. Tone 7 lends a keen sense of ethics to seat the integrity of purpose to current and future goals. What is determined to be in conflict with our Higher Purpose is raised to the surface by ETZNAB so it can be swept away.
Flint/ETZNAB is the Day Sign that can make an impression by Truth. ETZNAB is also the Flint Knife that is capable to cut to the heart. Flint’s news can come as “hard news” or as a shocking revelation. It can raise the Truth we didn’t expect to see.
From the top of the pyramid, we are called to survey the landscape of our experience in all directions. A journey we have made in darkness, led by Faith, can now be revealed in a new light.
ETZNAB nearly always presents significant or memorable news. The Energy and Intention of Tone 7 is to look beyond what was visible on the surface. ETZNAB is also said to present temptation. It’s purpose is to raise to our awareness the Truths we hide from our Self.
ETZNAB comes with a caution to expect the unexpected. Expect out-of-character behavior from those around you. You might think of it as a lack of “impulse control” that causes one to express what they “truly feel” versus what has been hidden by the fear of what others might think.
“Acting out” can go along with Flint/ETZNAB. My one encounter with road rage happened on ETZNAB. Someone nearly hit me as they veered into my lane, and then turned their anger at me. My response to the injustice was not my finest moment. Worse, it only fueled more rage on the other side. I felt lucky to be in a position to make a hasty exit. There was unexpected behavior on both sides. This is a day when it’s safer to be cautious and impervious to the unfairness of others.
OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING. We’ve had such dry weather, the sound of a steady rain just began outside my window. I would have never suspected that Rain would become an unexpected Blessing when I first moved to the Seattle climate. Flint/ETZNAB may start with bad news, but it will all be washed away.
We are offered the facts of a matter without prejudice or judgement. This can be a day of clearing our own Karma. Flint can also serve to guide us in a new direction based on fact versus an illusion.
In our Journey to a Dream, we are encouraged to see things for what they are, at the same time we hold the Dream in our Imagination. Our Journey requires us to keep our feet on the ground, and our head in the clouds. Tone 7 of Balance is a new starting place where we are prepared for the descending energy of Transformation. Tone 7 is a place of accounting of the Faith and Effort we’ve invested to balance the Above with the Below. What has been seated in Spirit prepares to take form in the material world with the Intervention of Divine Agency.
We might feel a shift in energy at this resting place. We can hold a sense of accomplishment as we look back on the challenges that have helped to build our own Inner Strength. Positioned with a Higher Perspective, we can see new Truth in every direction. This is a day to reflect on our Inspiration (East) and the Intention of our new beginning. There is new Truth to be seen in looking deeper into the experience of our relationships (South). The “hard road” we’ve traveled (West) can reveal something we overlooked, so we can draw new Wisdom from our experiences (North). Tone 7 can reveal the correspondence and connection between the Up Above and the Down Below. Tone 7 can help to reveal misunderstandings and misconceptions that allow for an accurate assessment of the way things really are. We might see where we’ve created our own negative experiences.
ETZNAB energies can intensify as the day goes on. This is a day to be kind to our Self and Others as a Way to hold our balance. The intensity of Flint can heighten our awareness to changing energy. By paying attention to your own energy, stress levels, or intensity, you will be able to recognize a shift to softer energy as we begin to approach sunset. From 7 Flint/ETZNAB we move directly into the Holy Day of Storm/CAUAC, the Day Sign that returns us to the comforting energy of Home.
This is the summit for a sacred surrender to God’s Divine Destiny. Through an act of humility, we establish the pattern of our response for dynamic developments ahead. This is the place to accept and surrender to the fact that, what we were so sure of, was really our blind spot. We will receive Divine Wisdom as the Student who appears with Humility and an Open Mind. Was our experience as challenging as it seemed? Or was that just the only direction of our focus?
The 5th Uinal of Empowerment: We are moving toward a completion of the 5th uinal that will seat the Power to manifest the future Spiritual Harvest of the 260-day Tzolk’in round. Truth will Balance our Power as we are given the tools to see that How we Use our Power Below, will directly influence the Power Above – our Power of Spirit. Where we are divided in our thoughts, Flint can help us to narrow our thoughts to the single-mindedness of our Divine Purpose.
To all my relations, may we use our Gift of Reflection to look back on the experiences of this trecena. May we be willing to see both our Strengths and Weaknesses, and the “Good” or “Bad” in their True Light. Flint/ETZNAB can break through the misconception that our effort was a useless struggle. So can the Truth of our Faith be elevated for us to see. May we surrender the ego that would deny what is true, and know that Humility is more important than how perfectly we applied the Wisdom we already knew. Instead of holding the discouragement of seeing where we are lacking, may we look deeper to see it as more evidence of the Creator’s Unconditional Love. The Source of Divine Discernment saw what we were unable to see, and yet still carried us in the Grace of Love and Forgiveness. ETZNAB can change static into dynamic energy that will empower our Highest Accomplishment. May we have the courage to see the Truth that was hidden, and give thanks for Flint’s Blessing to restore our Integrity, and Balance the Scales of Justice between the Above and the Below.
in lak’ech, I am another you

7 Flint/ETZNAB (Cherokee, Flint/DAWI’SGALA)
Galactic Tone 7: Reflective. Seven stands as a mirror to divide light and dark and to reflect all that is and is not. Seven is associated with the source of creation and the flow of Divine Will. With a keen sense of ethics, Seven establishes purpose to current and future goals.
Flint/ETZNAB: Mirror of reality. As a struck flint, these persons are the divine sparks of intelligence. Flint’s innate abilities are utilized to discriminate emotions from fact. Flint persons stand tireless to protect, defend, or cure others by personal sacrifice. By courageously wielding the sword of truth, falsehoods are cut away. Flints, it was said, can receive information on inter-personal troubles or evil plots of others by reflecting in an obsidian mirror. Their valiant service as warriors of the truth must be impeccable or they will experience sufferings of accidents, misunderstandings and gossip.
Cherokee, Flint/DAWI’SGALA: Opener of the Way, a creator, innovator, stretches the mind to outside limits of capabilities. Changes the static to the dynamic. Brings about change, often through separation and destruction. Beams the Stellar Ray of Truth to Earth as a crystal sword cast down along the path of a lightning flash. Flint is the transformer that brings things to a head and wipes the slate clean.
